I'm not sure that the chopper spawn cycles are aligned with the server restart.  If I'm playing around 9:30 pacific time tonight, I will try to find a helicrash to see if it persists through the restart.  My gut feeling is that the helicrashes are staggered, and not necessarily at round numbers, server restarts, or any otherwise significant numbers.

Friend said the same thing happened to a police car, vanished no where near the 4hr interval.

I haven't been able to pin it down yet either but I certainly hope they made it work the way you describe. People shouldn't be able to meta-game that way like they used to with fresh loot on server restarts, imo.

Chopper crashes are so fudging random. I am pretty sure they are respawning pretty much quicker than 4 hours. It -might- be every hour or 2. 

 

I have been able to loot 2 helis in 15 minutes interval, I was going to somewhere and then I saw a heli, looted it and came back and it wasn't there, I saw another heli somewhere else.

 

Then a few hours later I saw another heli, the hour was 17:52 I ran to the heli to loot it, I looted it and started watching the heli. Time hit 18:00 and I was expecting the heli to disappear but it didn't, I thought it was happening at the top of the hour. I went to the town to loot it, when I came back the heli was gone (18:17) (However I had noticed a heli getting destroyed around 16:15 (again I was closely watching, peeking it time to time while looting the town, the day before) so I'm guessing it's every 1 hour, however not top of the hour (or atleast not the top of the hour for my timezone)

 

Now actually it makes sense because I am pretty sure helis are respawning much more quicker than 4 hours, I'm doing regular routes and I'll point one thing out.

 

I started my heli route and It was like I couldn't find a single thing, I checked every god damn heli spot on the map and couldn't find a single one. (In an hour of searching)

 

So I'm guessing this happened:

 

- The helis were far away from me (when I started my route)

- By the time I got to the locations, they respawned.

- The place they respawned was not at the same spot, therefore they respawned away from me (behind me)

 

A few hours later, everything made sense to me after I learned that:

 

* From another guy on the same server (same hours as the story above) that he had seen a heli at NWAF, however I was at NWAF 5 minutes ago and didn't see a heli, prior to his spotting of the heli, he stated that an interval of 30 minutes had passed.

 

So actually couldn't find a single heli at that hour despite I looked at each spot, which now explains how.

 

So, helis are respawning every hour. Oh and, helis are (maybe not respawning) but they are indeed getting "destroyed" at server restarts, as I saw a heli disappearing prior after a server restart.

The dynamic event timers aren't effected by the regular restarts - at least they weren't in the experimental build.

If you're looting a heli at the moment a server restarts it will still be there when you log back in, with no new loot either, everything remains the same. 

Someone had mentioned that all three helis aren't on the same 4 hour timer either, so how do you know which 4 hour interval to expect?

 

I don't know what hive-voodoo is used to determine exactly when a timer begins but I don't think it's when the server restarts.

That may be why you're not seeing the results that you're expecting.

These so called new sniper items, what a waste of time trying to locate one for testing purposes. Lots of ammo in the tents just no weapon to be found.

 

I am ok with that, just hard to believe the dev's didn't want us to test it.

In exp build I saw 2 SVD's and a VSS in a few hours of heli hunting.

In stable I haven't found one yet but I've been mostly fixing & crashing cars and not as much heli hunting.

I know ColdAtrophy had an SVD yesterday so they must be spawning but how often I couldn't say

Dang it Cold, lend me that svd. I want to test it out. I don't mind the .22, with the hunting scope.

 

I hope next time i find a heli crash i find one, or the vss.

I've met SGTHornet and Tatanko ingame today, Hornet had an SVD so they are indeed spawning.

Seriously- fuck these sliding cars! Not only don't they stay where they are suposed to, apparently the devs have planned the spaces between props exactly so that you cannot get a car out from in between them ;) I feel betrayed - I loved my car. There is absolutely nothing I can do now, even though there is a V3S in the village next to me there is nothing I could do with it, even if I spent the 8 hours to get it repaired...

I'm a fan of Dayz, but these sliding issues were known forever and have not been discussed or offered any solution or even just explanation for by the devs, as far as I know. They should deal with these issues, pronto!

 

It looks like you might actually get it out of there, but the sliding while driving prevents that, too. Well done all around!

Funny story about that SVD, and the VSS that was fond at the same chopper crash the other day.  Well not so much funny, but now two randos have them.

Last night I was at Cap Golova lighthouse on DayZUndergound testing my bow when I spotted a fresh spawn running with a truck battery. I figured there was a car around, found an offroad in the marsh to the west. I camped it for a while, no one showed up, so I shot an arrow into it. Car started glitching out. By aiming at specific points I was able to tip the vehicle onto its side.

At this point I started taking fire. Three military guys were running up, they chased me through the marsh but I lost them by sneaking through a defilade and under the bridge. I took a position on Pik Kozlova and observed them milling around the offroad.

Ran back down and moved up on them as they approached the highway. They didn't see me in the bushes and I was able to kill two of them.

...but while running away more of them popped up from various positions in front and behind me... after exchanging fire with at least three others I died.

Spawned in Three Valleys and began a 2-hour journey through various small towns, Tulga, Msta, Shakhovka, Guglovo, Vyshnoye, checking every house, and then back down to a vantage point on Pik Kozlova. Had a Magnum but no rifle. I couldn't see any players below. Moving down, the car was still in the marsh, still on its side, now with 4 wheels, a battery, some loot and my arrows placed into the inventory. I was the "oldest" player on the server and it seemed no one was around so I went back to test my bow against the lighthouse.

Then this guy ran past me and into that shed, obviously looking for car parts, likely from the same group I encountered earlier... I went prone but my bow was now stuck in my hands. I had to break it into materials to equip the .357 as he ran behind me and into the lighthouse. I could hear his character breathing. Shot and killed him when he stepped out.

Ran away down the coast, then back up the mountain, where I saw a small dot moving through the marsh. Binoculars confirmed, he had respawned nearby and was heading to his body. I went back down.

He saw me running up to the lighthouse. I noticed movement behind a fence, his geared friend came out and rushed me. Killed him, then BOOM, the fresh spawn had found a Magnum. He missed and clicked empty. I shot him as well and hid both bodies.

As I was fleeing the scene I saw more movement behind a small rise. Yet another guy pushing up. Skull balaclava. Shot him, he started evasive maneuvers, I ran in the opposite direction and heard footsteps, a guy with a shotgun running past me. I came up behind him and we fired at each other with terrible accuracy. After the second barrage, he died.

At this point his skull balaclava friend was within breathing distance and I had to reload. He sprayed 30 rounds from his MP5K and didn't connect, I emptied my revolver. We repeated, he missed again, I didn't, he went down. I moved out and ended up safe and sound near Topolka dam. I was surprised no rounds hit me out of nearly 100 hostile projectiles.

The performance seemed relatively good, there was no really obvious desync. I saw one of these guys animation glitching early in the evening and in the last fight my weapon stopped playing its reload animation. The arrow vs car bug might be useful for getting vehicles unstuck. It seems to help if you remove the wheels.

 

While in Msta this happened. Went on for a couple minutes. He didn't seem to realize he was speaking globally.

Duplicity of items... zombies frozen in stride in binoc view... the vehicles are borderline useless what with this ridiculous pull to the left on the offroad and the "ice" surface the world is created from. For stable, this is fucking stupid. 

 

The kashtan scope is just a digital cobweb of static and visual noise, I've been knocked unconscious half a dozen times from people punching me in the face trying to ruin my incandescent skull balaclava and apparently my cooking pot is 90% full basically all the time. A stupid problem but I used to get punched in the face twice and ruin it... now it's all blingy bright in its ridiculous glory even if someone goes all Rhonda Rousey on me? Retarded ++

 

Zombies essentially force me into running in place as they wail on me, and flip buses upside down when hit. 

 

The car mechanic is oblivious to anything... Can't get in... can't get out... can't get in the front... "Home Geeves." The bus is embarrassing- what a fucking ridiculous waste of time to put together. How do you report a bug when the whole thing is just a piece of garbage. Where do you start? I wanted so badly to be into it but driving it around is like wallowing around in self pity... destructive to you, your environment and your future. 

 

On the plus side, we had over 10 people on the server for the first time in about 3 months so that's worth something. If these bugs continue, I can see that dwindling really fast. 

 

I'm all for development but holy shit already.

Some parking skills I'll give you that.

I did get it out eventually and picked up a friend. Then a zombie decided to get on the roof and when I shot it off, the car flipped on its side. I then repaired a V3S to push, which got damaged while driving over a tiny bridge. Since you can't repair V3S double wheels and can't craft double wheels for it, it is now stuck 15 meters from the toppled over hatchback. I then tried luring zombies to it so they could get on top of the car and flip it again, but nooo - they only flip it when it is actually drivable...wasted hours tonight on fighting bugs that needn't be in the release at all. Oh, I also tried shooting arrows into it after readin about it here; it won't budge a bit.

ONE word:

CARJACK -> flip car over. Problem solved! I wish we didn't have to tell the developers to employ logic before they make a release of anything. It's always this half-assed thinking that makes me understand why people hate on the game. It could be so easily avoided! Make releases with the player in mind, for once please! Even the mods had carjacks and it worked like a charm and was a good solution.

 

Also - is there a way to check when a server will restart? With these glitches it would be nice to know when, so we can return and get our stuff, instead of waiting at random.

@SEVEN I think you should have tried with bow, not crossbow. I think you can craft double wheel, maybe one on ground and one in hands.

Hey guys. I've got a high end pc (i5 4460,8gb ram, gtx 970,dayz on ssd) and stil got 10-15 fps in cities and 40 outside. I saw other people with aprox same specs and got 50+fps in cities. How can i play this game without lag..?
