Only if you used piddly thin twigs, and let your fire get really big and fierce. To cook on a fire, it's best to let it burn for a while so that the flames die down and you've got hot embers. Then you'd use some fairly sturdy branches to suspend your cooking pot (they'd need to be to hold the weight, anyway), which wouldn't get burned through before your food is cooked.

 

It's pretty naff to have to carry around a pre-fab tripod, taking up inventory space, when you ought to be able to rig one up yourself. Hopefully they become craftable later in development.

Really? I'm often thinking it would be cool to read these books in the game, you know, go to a remote farm in the evening, cook some deer steaks on a fireplace and open a good book.

I'm not gonna lie, when i bought dayz, i thought books indeed are readable. Probably because of so many RP posts :P

 

I stocked on food an water and went deep inside the forest to make myself a fire and to read a book i took with me.

You can imagine how fking dissapointed i was when i realised... :lol:

Not if you set them up away from the heat, which is what a tripod does. The pot blocks the heat from the fire.

 

I've made cooking tripods from sticks many a time. However, the in-game sticks look to be too short/slender to support a pot of stuff.
