Here is my theory : they do not communicate because they want to exhaust the fan base, and shrink it to the critical point, so there wont be too much people rushing the servers on alpha release...

something completely different....

what when infected would become zombies after being killed...means infected would be like in 28 day later.( could run, climb ladders open doors etc but also could be killed like any other human being) but after being killed they would return as zombies ( slow, but nearly unstoppable ...you would have to destroy their brain etc etc)

thoughts ?

idea taken from the book "Years of the Dead" written by Z.A. Recht

Rocket isnt very proffesional at all.

The communication has been ridiculously stupid.

The guy needs to make his mind up if you ask me.

I think you haven't played games before, have you? Also nobody hasn't ever said the game doesn't use Real Virtuality. Engines got numbers like games for example Unreal Engine, CryEngine and Frostbite also use numbers like Real Virtuality.

Yeah thats exactly it. I have not played a game in my life! You got me!

So its not the same engine. Not a new engine its a branch of the same engine.

Do you realize how dumb that sounds?

This is an apple. This other apple grows on the same tree but its not the same type its growing on a separate place in the same tree.

omg.....

It's funny that you mention sounding dumb..................

I would tend to agree except for the fact that the complete lack of communication has caused the forums to become more lively over the past week. I hope people aren't misinterpreting the silence as a guarantee that release is going to be really soon. I don't know if it will release soon or not but it would be nice to hear something from those in charge of the development. I think it would help the customer base set their expectations.

Scientists can dabble with the seed of an apple tree and genetically engineer it into a different species of apple tree. Programmers can take an engine, dabble with it and turn it into another engine. What's so hard to get? They're working with something that already exists, but changing it adequately enough that the end product is far different from what they started with.

You don't need to be a scientist to do that.  I have some friends that grafted an apple tree to grow 5 different types of apples.  They even mature and ripen at different times of the year.  Pretty neat, if I do say so myself.

well I dont believe so ...I guess final lap means next milestone so it comes out in november or something

I am pretty sure the final lap is in reference to cars/car racing/racing and not to do with the standalone.

inb4 I am wasting my time on this forum again when it won't be released for months

inb4 mods

Maybe you should just subscribe to this topic and read whatever information comes through; that's usually what I do.

I mean, nobody is forcing you to come onto this forum, it's all personal decision. Granted, it's not a huge decision, but a decision nonetheless. If you are confident enough that standalone won't be released for months, then by all means, go forth with your decision. I'm upset that more and more forum members are not participating in discussion due to the lack of standalone, but it's all your choice, man.

I for one, will be that idiot who checks in everyday expecting a sudden release on Steam/new release date/devblog/tweet/whatever else rocket wants to do, and making foolish comments when people are debating.

With that said, I like poptarts.

Before you make an ass out of yourself you need to get your facts straight.

Quote from an interview: He also confirmed that Standalone’s focus will be firmly on the Arma 2 engine.

You can read it yourself here. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/01/18/dayzs-dean-hall-answers-questions-on-standalone-release-engine-plans-and-the-war-z/

Ohh good one, I think that back fired on you
