Fing 111 Posted August 1, 2016 Well car persistence is still not working. Parked a sedan in my car tent yesterday left it at about 14:00 gmt. At 08:00 gmt this morning its gone. No one stole it as I had removed the wheels and they were still in the tent. I consider persistence to mean that if I leave it in one place it will still be there when I return after quite a few server restarts. Not go after 2. Because that is how many restarts that car went through as it is a 12hr cycle. I just hope they fix this and not ignore it on the next update. There are curtain things us testers like to have, workable vehicles and persistent storage. By the way have they fixed lorry and busses lack of power which stops them from going up a slight incline? My friend said they where still under-powered which has been a problem for some time.

But 'location' is not (and actually Hicks was quite specific about that). You might very well ask what the point of something 'persisting' is when it's on the other side of the map after a restart, but there you go...

It also explains why I am finding vehicles with repair kits or lug wrenches. But it fails to explain why I have yet to find a fully loaded, fully functioning vehicle in the middle of wherever on the map. IF, and that's a big if, it were really working people would be stumbling on vehicles that are ready to go since I have left quite a few in my wake over the past few weeks.

Like you, I am finding lots of vehicles with stuff in them, but (say) a wheel or two missing. My assumption is that people are removing and then stashing them - but, hey, it's DayZ, so who knows. In any case, I haven't got into a car since 0.58. Complete bullet magnets.

Mookie (original) 799 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Either the same German guy in a ski mask has somehow followed me over ten (ten...) separate servers, or the 'view players' in the Steam overlay has given up the ghost. I suddenly have massive hax paranoia. Edit: restarted game, still happened. Restarted puter, stopped happening. barnabus 1708 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) So, I thought I would try a little experiment today with a Grenade, Hand, Fragmentation Type M67. The idea was to see if I could use it to catch some fish. Happily, I had spooked some cows and they glitch stuck in the pond I was going to grenade fish in. Well, killed three cows, but caught no fish. Bummer.. The cows made an awful noise when they got killed. For some reason I giggled maniacally over this for about half an hour. You're still supposed to THROW it, not just drop it overboard. Edited August 2, 2016 by barnabus

WTF fixit:) or swap it? This issue has been reported in the bug tracker. I honestly think it has something to do with how things render while on the railway and on the road. What I think happens is while you are on the railroad it doesn't render distant objects. For example a lot of railways have walls or train carts blocking far distance vision. And thus less items get rendered. As opposed to roads where there is nothing blocking it renders everything. Just a hypothesis on my part.

I began collecting barrels on the 20th of June and placing them in various locations to observe persistence timers. It was my understanding that there was an 8 day countdown unless interacted with however my experience has been slightly different. On the 20th I placed three barrels on different servers and put in 1 apple each. I’ve checked on them every day but did no other interaction. After three days one barrel was stolen but the other two have remained. On the 25th I gathered three more barrels and also hid them on separate servers loaded with one rock each. Checked every day with no interaction and all three still remain. Collected three more on the 29th, hid on different servers and loaded with 1 stick each. I will report on the 8th the status of the last three. As of this morning my 20th and 25th barrels are still there and all I have done is view them. As far as I can tell persistence is either longer than what has been reported, a simple view in the vicinity window can be considered an interaction, or the laws of time are warped under the Chernarus pine trees. Any thoughts? On 7/17/2016 at 10:58 AM, Judged_Guitly said: Barrel persistence update. A couple weeks ago I posted a comment on my experiences with a few barrels I’ve stashed and I just wanted to give an update on their status. Each of these barrels had one common item placed inside them, were positioned on separate public servers and had no interaction except to view them in the vicinity window. 2 Barrels stashed on the 20th June 3 Barrels stashed on the 25th 3 Barrels stashed on the 29th 3 Barrels stashed on the 1st July All barrels still there with no inventory change. I will continue to update until they are stolen or despawn. I know this is kind of a dead topic but I’m simply documenting my experiment for those who may find it interesting. Barrel Persistence Update. For those who might be interested, here’s an updated on my barrel experiment. These are barrels I’ve stashed on separate servers and frequently check without any physical interaction. 2 Barrels stashed on the 20th June (43 days) 3 Barrels stashed on the 25th Jun (38 days) 3 Barrels stashed on the 29th Jun (34 days) 3 Barrels stashed on the 1st July (32 days) -ADDED- 2 Yellow protective cases 12 July (20 days) 2 Ammo boxes on 22 July (11 days) 2 Ammo boxes on 17 July (16 days) All have been persistent and I'm guessing on the 4th the first two barrels should despawn. I'll let you know.
Mookie (original) 799 Posted August 3, 2016 Wanted to log in to one of my favorite (UK, official) servers last night. Server said 0800, so I gave it ten minutes to settle down. I'd logged out in bushes near Tisy. Log in, char fine, screen loading up. Slowly sink into the ground and die. Perhaps it was so hot that I just melted... Red_Ensign 990 Posted August 5, 2016 died of hypothermia (freezing to death) twice this week. no mention of being cold or shaking, or freezing to death (the stage after hypothermic). just suddenly 'you're hypothermic' and dead 5 or 10 minutes later. first time I tried sprinting and died. second time I immediately started to make a fire and died. just... go **** yourself, game.

This has happened to me a couple times in the last couple weeks. No warning, just "you are Hypothermic", then dead within 5 minutes. The second time it happened as soon as I saw Hypothermic I cracked a heat pack and build a fire. Didn't help. Fell over dead into the fire. This game be exhibiting symptoms of illin'. Excanto 336 Posted August 6, 2016 Been quite awhile since I logged in and I forgot I was a short jog from my tent..and low and behold, it was still there and still stocked. Woot! Tents seem to be working very well. My m4 with duel 60 rd mags work well too..still no scope hehe.
cage53 56 Posted August 6, 2016 I will have to check which server I am on but it has rained steady for two real life hours this evening and pretty well the whole last few days. My barrel has persisted for a least a week so that's one good thing. But I haven't seen anyone else on this server in that whole time and I guess if it rains that much why should I? I hate changing servers just because the one I am on isn't giving me 'fun' conditions. I want to play the hand I am dealt so to speak. So like my barrel I persist and will log on again tomorrow. Mookie (original) 799 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) Paint M4 green, mag disappears, as does bipod. Relogging brings back mag, but not bipod. But game seems increasingly buggy over past week or so. philbur 476 Posted August 6, 2016 You all happen to notice a consistent variation between areas of the map that tend to leave you overheating versus other areas that leave you shaking and on the edge of freezing to death? So far I notice (on Public, at least) there is a predictable change as you go northwards to a much colder climate as opposed to coming down towards the coast leaving you almost constantly overheating. Seems to me they have the basic ideas in place and they just need to apply proper modifiers to the player controller (or whatever mechanic is responsible for reconciling your health). As of yet I have not died of either extreme because if I am "overheating" I head north...and the reverse leads me south. Try it out!

I don’t know if they were found or despawned but they lasted 47 days. The next three barrels are up to despawn somewhere around the 9th. I will interact with one of them before then to see how it affects the despawn timer. Ammo boxes and Yellow cases seem to have a good long persistence life. I have two ammo boxes with 21 days and two yellow cases with 26 days. Info u, the six slot “water proof bags” do not seem to last thru server restarts. I placed two yesterday and they were gone today.
Judged_Guitly 80 Posted August 7, 2016 Happened to me again last night. "Hypothermic" appeared in my message center and in response I immediately cracked open two heat packs and began sprinting back towards my camp. I was about 15 minutes away and fell over dead in ten. Whats interesting is that while I was running I started getting the "you are warming up" messages. Apparently getting hypothermia is like getting bit by a Tiipan. Has anyone got a screen shot of the elusive Chernarus Hypothermian Taipan snake? This dangerous fuckin' creature is responsible for the deaths of three of my minions.
Mookie (original) 799 Posted August 8, 2016 I have yet to be struck by the Hypothermia Taipan. Could it be an issue with specific servers? I actually had a bad dream last night about being in game and the ground slowly swallowing me up... In other news, that M4 I painted green has developed a consistent habit of losing bipods.
