God, if the servers weren't so packed I'd be dying to find a sedan and a mine to try hitting it full speed on the northern highway. I believe you supplied the v3s last time I tried and it was interesting, sliding down a hill bouncing off trees like a pinball.

I had a hatchback one tire form ready this morning, when some guy ran through the trees and killed me without saying a word.  And it wasn't for the car, because I was a bit away looking for that last tire.  And it wasn't a surprise shot, because when he surprised me, I said "What's up, dawg?" and kept running.  As I ALT'd around to look at him, I saw him raise his gun.  :(

Ah well, at least I spawned near Cherno and got to check it out.  Pretty cool.  I wish all the shipwrecks were enterable.

Fair point, but I don't think a 7 minute swim should result in a shark attack. Realistically (authentically?) the incidence of shark attacks is so low that I don't think sharks should be a concern for any player wanting to swim in the ocean. I might be biased.

It's a horror(able) survival game. We're going to have predators ... eventually ... I hope, so I think that there should be a chance of something ugly happening at sea. Even if it's only a small chance (5-10%), hungry fish with big teeth should be a thing! Maybe you see a great bloody dorsal fin circling first, to warn you to turn around?

IDK, it's just a thought. There have already been plenty of deviations from "realism" in order to make the game playable, so if you'd prefer a giant squid, I'd be down with that, too!  ;  )

Even if the chance of being attacked was 1,000 times higher than is realistic it would still be very low. "Authentic" means that most people won't be concerned about shark attacks unless they've recently watched Jaws. Worth dev time? Speaking of the bears and wolves, the previews have showed a survivor being chased and presumably eaten by a pack of ravening wolves... but these animals will generally try to avoid people. Like the other animals, in most situations bears and wolves should move away when they catch wind of you. However, given the fact there are mindless "infected" all over the map that might present an easy food source, I'm willing to give more leeway to predatory mammals than to sharks...

You also have to realize that when the threat of human beings are low enough predators and the like will move into urban areas in search of food as well. That might make them less likely to run if their habits have change than if the streets of chernarus was full of people driving/walking/etc.

Monday I logged on without too much effort. Played 45 mins or so before the server reset. Logged back on, found an axe and proceeded to build a fire and cook my chicken breasts. I built the fire during the day so it wouldn't be as noticeable but nightfall comes fast on this server and soon I was sitting in the bush with a great big beacon of a fire burning. I quietly left the vicinity. Sometime shortly after that the server crashed. I logged back in very easily and spent a half hour wandering in the dark. Still can't navigate by these stars. Actually logged off after a time. I enjoyed the play, very smooth.

Tuesday I logged back in and kept exploring. Eventually  I spotted a Lada on the highway and went to investigate. It may have been a trap because as soon as I got there I could hear bullets snapping by. I bugged out to the opposite tree line with bullets whipping all around. I was wounded but made it to the trees. I ducked behind cover and bandaged myself, waiting for my attacker to come after me but no dice. I would've liked to explore the Lada. It looked like the first driveable vehicle I've come across and I was carting around a pristine sparkplug but alas. I waited ten minutes. Night fell again and I logged off.

Wednesday I logged on with some effort and kept moving. Game was fine but frames were lower. I had updated my Nvidia driver Tuesday and I've noticed some graphics issues. I no longer have a face, just a black empty circle. Sometimes my fists are black as well. Also I've noticed horizontal violet lines in the trees, especially visable in the evergreens. Once I figure out posting screenies I will do so.

1st view or 3rd view servers? :)

I personally favour 1st person so u cant exploit walls, tress, and see through solid objects with your vision.

Well, nice cammo there - I`ve hard time to see my own character with like 1 meter away. :)

No ghillie except a weapon wrap, but have not painted it yet.

First-Person, all the way. Only true gaming mode there. Heightens tension and also limits your ability to exploit.

Plus. . It's just rad to see everything from the EYES of a survivor in this world. - Once the audio is upgraded, I think it'll be even better.

You should be able to fold and unfold it. Until then, I would be annoyed if the stock was there but unable to be used. The gun would be less effective. The Mini Uzi previews so far have shown the stock folded—I hope they unfold that one as well.

I don't see why they wouldn't bring that functionality. They've already done something similar with the trumpet, so I'm guessing it's just a matter of time.

For those who don't want go full realistic, might raise the gamma level to full. So you see just like daytime. I prefer it that way due to the fact that there is a lot of darwinism going on and i like to stand a chance to live a while longer.

This is actually why I hope that they eventually host 'Hardcore' servers where lighting settings are fixed for everyone and is First-Person. That way everyone is in the same boat and the game is being played in the true atmosphere it should.

I like the way the cars spawn now. It's more likely to find one somewhere in the middle of the map. I just found a sedan yesterday at a remote fuelstation. Unfortunately it's no tyres at all. Although i will try to complete it. I wonder if hatchbacks are more rare now? Since i play 0.60 i saw about 3 sedans and one V3S in a military base but no lada. But i guess as all things spawn more unpredicable. It's just more fluctuating. But that system also means that one find four jackets from the same type but in different colours and shapes.

Yeah why not. But if they don't improve the way the cars behave one won't have fun with them driving in just 1sth person.

Yeah, definitely. I thought I read that they were actually working on new animations or such-so with cars somewhere?

I think it'd definitely be more interesting to have more control of your sight and actions while in a car. If you're a passenger, you ought to be able to fire out the windows or duck down to avoid fire. - Also, zombies and players should get a ragdoll splat effect if slammed into by a car, at the cost of car integrity perhaps.

agree, but the car physics need also an overhaul. It's very tricky to drive even in 3th person (i know from plenty of experience)

I  had a kicker in the road but actually managed it hold the car like this. Then i tried about 2 or 3 minutes to get the car back on the road :-)

Hi all,

I know this is a boring question for you as you might be hearing it everyday, however, it's really bothering me so I decided to ask. I tried 0.60 experimental for the first time yesterday. I spawned in Cherno and wanted to see how the performance was. First of all, here is my system specs:

CPU: FX 6350 @ 4.4Ghz

GPU: ASUS R9 270 2GB

RAM: GSkill Ripjaws 2x4gb 1600mhz DDR3

Motherboard: Gigabyte 990xa UD3

Now, I had seen several reports of people playing with FX 6300 and R9 270X having an average of 40 fps in Cherno/Elektro so I was really hopeful. However, in my case fps wouldn't go over 22-30 zone. At first, it was the rendering resolution being too high but I set it to 1920*1080 and set the file to read only and results are still the same. Even in open fields, most I get is 40 fps. The game runs in highest settings but still, I thought I would have at least slightly more (30 stable in cities perhaps). One thing I've noticed is that even in the main menu I get sub-30 fps.

I tried verifying game files but it didn't help. I have no launch parameters. I honestly think there is something wrong but don't know exactly what. Do you have any idea as to what might be going on? If so, fire away, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, what browser are you using Gary? I'm on Chrome personally and don't have any issues except when I'm trying to removed quoted posts from the text box. I did an updated version of my instructions below:

Funny enough, I made the old one as a response to one of your posts as well :p
