    Public servers killing dayZ!

    Nope, the current narrow focus on gun related stuff is a mistake in my book. The game itself would have great potential, if survival elements were developed with the same itensity as weapon sounds, weapon sway, gun attachment, gun damage system, shooting from vehicles ... and so on. For the time being, yes, the game is broken for me ... so I look what I can get from the game in the meantime. I am by no means a fan of PvP, but I cannot play survival at the moment, since the game lacks these elements. And yes, of course I paid for it ... actually bought my brother a copy too, so in fact I paid twice even - but that's not the actual point. And yes, it's fine if you think the direction the game is heading is good. I do respect different opinions, but and I don't expect you to think the way I do. I just do expect you to take it as my opinion and that's about it.

    Different argument. Not everyone has days of spare time at hand to search for equipment just to be killed by someone he doesn't even see. So some people might just look for the quick gear and action stuff. Since there is no survival element in the game, I have actually come to do so myself lately. I want to have some fun, but can't sink hour after hour into the game. I cannot play survival, so what option do you have? That said, on private hive, as soon as an update comes out, clans hunt for the vehicles. If you only find time on the fourth day after a new update, forget about vehicles and some other quality stuff. So yeah, I do understand your point, if time is not an issue. If time is precious, private servers can be bothersome.

Since our community has put so much time into gathering gear on our private hive we didnt want it to go to waste. We decided to load up all the trucks and head to Novo where we will be hosting a Hunger Games style event. Best of all, everybody is invited! So if you are interested in taking part in this massive event, please read below! DayZ Hunger Games! Day: Saturday March 12, 2016 Time: 3:00pm EST, 8:00pm GMT Server: TAW.net Private Server Password: will be announced on day of event Basics: Food and water will be provided. We will be operating inside the city of Novodmitrovsk (See below) PHASE 1: https://goo.gl/Yk8YTg PHASE 2: https://goo.gl/n2GcNd PHASE 3: https://goo.gl/PVWdcJ / https://goo.gl/Qj7vyr PHASE 4: https://goo.gl/HTUqpK / https://goo.gl/8XH1mI PHASE 5: https://goo.gl/HKVUCA / https://goo.gl/QnV6mW PHASE 6: Inside the fence surrounding the courtyard of Novo Tower. The server will be locked from now until the event ends. Event will be held on the TAW Private Server and will require a password to join. Once the event begins, all players are only to use in-game communications. You may team up with another player, but must ONLY use in game chat throughout the event. NO Respawns. Once you die you will be asked to leave the server. If you refuse you will be banned. Last player standing is the winner. Event Specifics: You must show up as a fresh spawn and be wearing nothing but your shoes when the event begins. We will open the server to all participants approximately 2 hours before the event begins to allow you to transit. Vehicles will be traveling from Solnichny to Novo. Gear will be dumped in a central area and everybody will spread out evenly in a circle around it. When the event begins, you can choose to rush the middle to get a head start or you can run away from the chaos that will happen immediately. All participants must remain within the pre-determined boundaries or face disqualification. Novo Tower, all tents, and all vehicles in the area are OFF LIMITS at all times and should not be entered. Hidden stashes and their locations will be announced periodically throughout the event. When the number of participants start to decrease, the Area of Operation will shrink. There will be multiple phases, and upon announcement you will have 10-15 minutes to move into the condensed area. If you do not make it you will be disqualified. The area will continue to decrease in size as time progresses to keep the competition interesting and to discourage camping. ANY RULE BREAKERS WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SERVER SIGN UP HERE: Event Over Since we have limited space, and we expect there to be more interest than the server can hold we are asking everybody to REGISTER for the event. At the time of this posting, we have around 15 slots available. We may not be able to take everybody who signs up, but we will go through the list and reach out to as many people as we can possibly fit in.     What I said was simply wrong as I misread your comment, which is my bad. But good to see that you are "smart" enough to be above such things *sarcasmover9000*. Plain wrong. There is a difference between voicing displeasure and making suggestions of things that were already announced for implementation. Examples: "I hate the buggy vehicles atm" and "Can we have little bird pl0x". So much for tall orders and internet smart guys, guy.

    I don't get what you are talking about. For a while the devs stated they would bring some more survivalish stuff, then many complaint that they want new weapons, and now are the devs mostly highlighting weapon related stuff & everything everyone want to hear about. What currently is vehicles, economy, weapons and mostly the new renderer. The game won't make it in Q2 into beta. It's not a problem at all. I dont want a rushed game or some stupid dlcs. The only thing I am hoping for is a pretty soon release for the server files, and every week a small tweet or post with something similar like this: " 0.60 is almost finished. Currently working on: Bringing back the beans. " It feels like there is little to no communication although there is communication. I used to play Battlefield Play4Free a while ago, that game was in open beta for 4 years till it was closed. There was no communication at all. And if the game is in a state where the mod support was officially implemented everything the community wants will be modded. Gib them devs the beans they deserve for all the time spent on making this game and will be spent on finishing it.

    Obvious solutions is to cut down on content. I don't think this game will be a real survival game ever. Someone is cultivating his weapon fetish and thus the topics are gun sounds, weapon sway, ammo spawns, more guns, more efficient reloading, shooting from vehicles, helicopters and so on .... The major problem that I see is that the game still lacks a real survival content. The only aspect I still expect is an increase in the number of zombies. I have given up on real different char skills, on medical stuff and more, which could give a new impulse to the game. But I have come to take it for what it is. A shooter on a map, which has grown too big.
  8. Though there are only very few moments where I can imagine people being chased over roofs in Dayz, I think that is more the fault of the level design than of the game. It's no Dying Light, but in Dayz we should have cities with better ways to traverse them. There should be more options for vertical gameplay, so we can run around the city on different levels. Usually we can only go on the ground. So if Dayz added more interesting city maps, this rappeling feature could be good. It might give you an interesting option to escape from either players or zombies. I also thought of it in terms of rock-climbing and hanging camps (at cliff-faces), which would be interesting additions, but probably only a feature that will be modded in. All in all, I'm not too sure this feature would be good. It seems to specialized to fit in Dayz, but it was nice to think about having. I do think we could work with a modular towing system though. It would be good to have more than one option to move/flip a car. The one problem I see with towing cars is that quite possibly someone will just tow all the vehicles from the map to his own base. So these tow ropes must bring serious disadvantage, like driving only at slowest speeds. Otherwise people will just keep slinging cars around ^^

    Beta in Q2?

    That is not the point at all. The point here is that the devs made an announcement, which I expect them to keep this one time. Because they were pretty clear about being able to make it. We had to listen to so much shit last year about how they are on time with the main features and everything is more or less on schedule. Nobody ever apologized for cocking up one update after the next. And the game runs on minimal features at the moment. No true infected numbers of AI, no final AI, old character controller, not nearly enough (buggy) vehicles, no weather, no base-building, etc. It's maybe 50% feature complete when all is added, but what we see (ingame) is about 15%. Add to that all the ingame stuff that is missing. They have to release the mod tools soon (they were supposed to be out around now), then they have to deal with a singleplayer version and the console version at some later point. When is this going to happen? What's the final release date for the full product? I can't see it anywhere before the end of 2017; and that's optimistic. So how about Beta in Q2? Since Hicks was so clear about making it this time, I am almost looking forward to the foolhardy reasoning they will come up with for yet another delay. There are small teams that work hard and deserve praise. I just have the feeling these devs aren't like that. I really want to give them that praise for a partially great game, but they are simply too slow. Eight hours of work a day is not enough when you have a Beta release coming up. Start working on your promises, devs. And get it done.

    I see this game's beta beginning when the new engine segments are all implemented (not fully iterated but all initially implemented). After that I think it'll be big additions like base building and flying vehicles which will be the features added.

    Trolls aside, No tangible progress is working persistence, a working CLE system, many more vehicles since the last couple updates and renderer wip has been shown. Oh, let me guess, vids are totally faked right? Game is ded guize, refundz please, rabble rabble. Also, CristiX. I'm pretty sure you've been banned from the Steam forums for spouting off the same nonsense. inb4 denial.

    'when beta hits' looking at the dayz dev stats... that'll be a while... another what... 8-9 FULL patches (NOT HOTFIXES) like I've stated in another topic.. at current dev. speed (CURRENT) their providing 1 full patch every three months (0.57-0.58-0.59-0.60) in 12 months time... people are saying they'll speed up after 0.60.. but the devs also said we'll have 0.60 around march.. (guess what month it is) still no 0.60 in exp. branch (that could take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to hit exp.) then testing for several days... so maybe end or march 0.60 stable? so lets say they speed up after 0.60... 7 full patches until 'beta' that would still be at LEAST 7 months... so end of 2016 we 'might' have modding tools.. so I say again: 'around the corner' not in a million years mate.. https://dayz.com/ has an estimate (count the dots per version) on beta... https://dayz.com/blog/dayz-moving-into-2015 just saying...     he is dead serious. Play other games, this will drive you nuts. Keep your mind active until we all hear more, right now i believe .60 is on hush mode and nothing as for information is being released. So like you, we are as much in the dark about when it will hit stable with more items. Now we all could eat our words and everything like base building could be added to the new render engine, and vehicles. Who knows until we get there.

    l definitely agree that it makes sense enough, in regards to the nature of storage, that it's pretty easy to accept as "good enough". I'd love to be able to able to fill it while it's in a vehicle, but understand the protector case cheese gave that idea a bad name. I feel like it's doable, without allowing that exploit, simply by not allowing larger storage to open inside smaller storage. In which case the Barrel would act no different then a Med-Kit or Protector Case does now when placed inside vehicles. They don't generate extra squares of storage, but allow you access to ones otherwise "filled".

    IMO, if they did expand Inventory space, it needs to come with a price. Yes the Weapon sizes are pretty aggressive right now, but think of the other things you can put in the hatchback (trunk?) that just, really seems unrealistic for such a tiny vehicle. -You can fit a full sized Oil Barrel plus some in Trunk of that Vehicle, AND then fill it with four passengers. Can't fill the barrel, which seems a little silly since it's a container that retains it's shape more like a protector case instead of a tent. -You can put a double Truck or Bus Wheel in the Trunk of that Vehicle, plus some AND still fit four passengers. So maybe some sort of re-scaling of weapon systems (which I feel was intentionally made large), or some manner to penalize "overloading" vehicles. Like losing gas mileage, increasing tire damage, or taking up passenger seats.

    Okay, okay, you caught me being flippant. Maybe it was his suggestion of 20-30 rifles to fit in a trunk that set off my safety-conscious reply. I do like Buakaw's suggestion of having different shapes of inventory availability, perhaps one rifle slot per person would be a good fit. Filled backpacks absolutely need to be able to be put into storage, both vehicles and tents/barrels. It is also a good suggestion that the vehicle inventory be broken up into different shapes; makes me think in terms of individual containers such as door pockets, and back of seat pouches for smaller items, and larger ones can go into the trunk. Four rifles and four backpacks would be my minimal suggestion for the trunk capacity. Never, would I ever consider putting more than half a dozen rifles loose in a trunk; even then, softcases or blankets would be mandatory to prevent damage or accidental discharges. Now a truck with a purpose built rack.... Here's to hoping that burlap bags will eventually have more than two uses.

    That's for changing rate of fire settings on weapons that have that function enabled. It has nothing to do with vehicles. And regarding "neutral" sounds- I don't think the offroad has that feature... not sure about the bus... but the truck and the sedan do have a distinctive idle sound that can help you figure out where you are in the tree.

    "What can I expect?": Prepare to get absolutely butf**ked every ten seconds. (not trying to be mean, this is the truth) "are there zombies?": yes, stay away from them unless you have a weapon. "are there drive able vehicles": yes "can you store stuff in vehicles" yes "do we have a release date yet?" yes its supposed to come out late 2016 (supposedly)

    No, Ive found quite a few vehicles but cant be bothered to get all those damn tyres that are needed. Also, it seems you need to use the newui to remove/stuff from cars and i dont want to use that crap. I usually find at least one heli crash every day, sometimes two but theres never SVD's or Fal's on them.

    If you log in and PLAY the game, or watch youtube, or read the developer updates, or read this Forum AND Play (even ONCE in 2 years) - then you will have interesting real questions and you will find FRIENDS who will spend TIME helping you and discussing the game. LOG IN, watch, read, play.. join the community - spend just ONE or TWO hours of your OWN time and you will get all the HELP all the comment and all the discussion you want. Kichilron told you this 2 years ago.. right ? But these questions you put here are NOT real questions - you know it, I know it. Saying "I haven't logged in for 2 years are there vehicles? The game has problems is it ever going to be finished?" - is obvious simple fake crap. stop it. xx pilgrim

Wow I take it a hell of a lots changed in that time! basically I got the game when it was first released as alpha as Id loved the arma mod, and I played for a good 6 months to a year but then stopped for a long time, ive only recently decided to venture into chenerus again but what can I expect? ive read some stuff about zombies being removed then put back or are they removed now? do we have driveable vehicles and backpacks we can drop and store stuff in yet? I dont expect people to give me a full rundown but as a long time away player what might be the most standout details I would notice if logging in now compared to the year or so after the alpha became available? And lastly....do we have a release date yet? Ive read about the issues with the design studio and I take it thats why but is this game ever going to be finished and released? seems like its not even in beta stage yet, are we talking a 2017 general release? or even longer?

    Persistence wipe?

    Have you asked your GSP if they can investigate what happened with the persistence files? It is possible that something could have gone wrong here since items and vehicles are stored in seperate files.

    Where is 0.60?

    I don't share you guys' excitement for modders. They've fucked up dayzmod with "one bazillion vehicles" and "as.50 starting gear"-modes and servers and they're probably going to fuck up this as well as soon as it's opened. I hate to say this but: if this game should ever be considered "good", it got to stay in the hands of the devs. Sure, their pace is ridiculously slow and the information politics sucks, but at least they want this to stay as "hardcore" as it is and they are obviously thinking that joy from playing this game doesn't come from the things modders think are joyful.
