Hello Survivors,

we have a new, major update for you guys, reintroducing two weapons alongside many fixes.

Most important are improvements to our backup system, which should help a great deal with the existing persistence issues.

Today's update will also enable the Experimental branch for the Server Files. We will have additional communication on the changes this brings shortly.

Please verify your game files before playing the new update, and report all bugs you encounter to https://feedback.bistudio.com/, please.

TWEAKED

  • Tweaked: Inventory overhaul Improvements in the visuals and performance of inventory code, including the
    • addition of hierarchical attachment visualisation,
    • hiding unused attachment categories (greatly uncluttered the Watchtower for example),
    • inclusion of dedicated icons for these categories and overall bugfixes.)
  • Tweaked: Improvements to server performance (central economy, networking and AI) - Read here for more details
  • Tweaked: Weapon muzzle attachments now steam during rain while they are hot
  • Tweaked: Weapons animations polishing (animations speed, clipping)
  • Tweaked: Updated sounds for climbing ladders
  • Tweaked: Updated sounds for take item in hand action
  • Tweaked: Projectile speed and air friction
  • Tweaked: Projectile damage (rebalanced)
  • Tweaked: Character damage system (rebalanced)
  • Tweaked: Armor against projectiles (rebalanced)
  • Tweaked: Shock damage for projectiles (chance to fall into unconsciousness increased)
  • Removed: Chances for bleeding wounds from projectiles hit
  • Removed: Flickering effect (roadflare)
  • Tweaked: Antibiotics and vitamins only support single use consume action
  • Tweaked: Traps no longer function as melee weapons
  • Tweaked: Hen spawn zone reworked to better fit environment (should not spawn inside industrial and other unnatural areas)
  • Tweaked: Many improvements, tweaks and fixes for ChernarusPlus terrain
  • Tweaked: Buldozer no longer requires dta and dayz.gproj copied to the work-drive/work-folder (Modding relevant)

KNOWN ISSUES

  • There might be an issue with the use of storage files created before the update. You can use this Experimental phase to test your current storage file from the Stable branch (keep copies).
  • SK 59/66 and CR-527 have have similar animation issues as the Mosin, with the weapon becoming displaced briefly during a reload
  • Client FPS drops when dismantling or destroying a watchtower
  • A ruined improvised suppressor still silences shots
  • 2-handed rifles can only be dragged and dropped via a small piece of their "Equipment" tab icon
  • There is no icon displayed when dragging an item from hands slot
  • Full-auto gunfire in the distance might become distorted and sounds like a single shot
  • A jammed BK-18 cannot be fixed
  • Server browser issues - server time can be displayed incorrectly, missing throbbers on filtering, previously played, proper version filters not functioning, missing icons, servers cannot be filtered by character
  • The spotlight does not work after a server restart
  • Infected will be a bit more bullet resistant during this Experimental.

Notes

  • We've done some changes to the VoN Codec, so when moving your current Server Config to the new patch, be sure to change your vonCodecQuality = 20
  • Consider using the Steam client option to verify the integrity of the local game cache to avoid corrupted data after downloading this update.
  • In case of problems, please check the Bohemia Interactive support F.A.Q.DayZ F.A.Q., or BattlEye F.A.Q.

Is the SK 59/66 the SKS? If so, fixed persistence, SKS and a bunch of other good stuff, I like what I'm reading. This might get me back in the game for a longer period, thanks.

This is a massive massive update, thank you so much!! The logs and backups stuff is a godsend.

Can you talk further in detail about the ^ quote? I'm very curious to learn more.

That's a long list of moved map objects that are nowhere documented, bigger changes are noted.

seems like good patch.
just tested few things..
killed sheep with my fists and skinned it with stone knife.
i ate whole sheep...no health problems beside over eating.
also managed "loot farm" with two houses...plenty of clothes keep spawning in...but noticed that food in pockets was reduced..i guess.

is there any plan to check loot farming problem and eating raw meat problem?
and those sheeps just were stupid...why they not runned away?...and maybe adult rams should really attack player if player starts to hit them

They said that more dangerous diseases are coming. So I guess the impact of eating raw meat with that as well. I hope it will be soon! Want to cook my meat again before I can eat it

I appreciate the fact the Devs seem to be doing something. That's awesome.

 

But! (there's always a but) performance is still an issue mainly around vehicles and general performance.

Vehicles: From the perspective and friends and mine alone, the movement and controls for vehicles are sluggish and awkward. And there are times where you will lock up for 5+ seconds and end up crashed on the side of the road, and for a game like this, vehicles are a must.

Performance: FPS issues even with people with 1080ti's and 17-8700k's. Barely able to reach 60 even on the lowest settings coupled with constant crashed. And now that modding is at an all time high, people are sometimes not even able to launch the game with some mods active.

 

Are any of these 2 issues going to be touched at all in the future? Myself included, I think we'd all like to be able to reach 60 fps and control vehicles in a less awkward and sluggish manner.

Oh by the way, when is tanning and coloring clothes coming back? Now that the SKS is back, I can wear my favorite outfit again:

Bloody feet! (can we wash them too? lol)

Nice to have some fix for this finally. Maybe implementing faster stamina drain too with bleeding or add some shock damage, just painful, kind of like it used to be?

Played for some time on a 1pp server. The game was running good and I found a CR-527 (but no ammo/mag):

Played an hour or so at 1st person "high/full" server. No problems. Game was running good. Didn't see any other players but AKM took zeds down with one shot (as it should) and with M4A1 sometimes more then one shot.

What does this mean in English, do I have to roll back to stable to play LAN or is this going to come in a timely fashion?

Shortly seems to mean something way different to you guys.
