Exp Update: 0.58 + Hot Fix.

It's a good theory too, but NW Airfield was not empty at all, but all items teleported inside 1 tent north of the area.

You see similar pattern north of Stary city too at those military tents. All items end up inside 1 tent, except some hunter scopes inside top of the green military towers

nearby.

I also enjoy 1st person servers, but not on almost empty servers. And 50/50 population server is too small in my opinion.

They could easy play 120/120 population on this map without feeling too crowded.

I usually run 1st person on 3rd person server since it's easier to check bushes and trees.

Blue waffle or UK alliance servers (private) usually have full 1st person servers.

I love 1pp servers, it is completly different game.

For example, having those towers near "tent cities" finally makes sense, you can climb on them to check out if someone is in tent city, because you don't have invisible camera floating 3 meters above you etc.

The big BIG issue tho is the panting sound of your character it is so LOUD.

Also that claustrophobic feel, I know I am not the only one that gets it.

Also when helicopters make it to the game, they will be not so overpowered on 1pp server as they are or 3pp servers (you can't fly 300 km/h+ and spot hidden tents when in 1pp mode etc).

Then my theory can still work because maybe tents are also getting a separate loot table. It kinda does make sense and all is similar to each other. The opposite happened with crash sites. Vehicle spawned but no loot. Now the vehicle doesn't spawn but the loot literally poops out.

Yeah, it depends where u park your v35, but is't nearby a loot spawn - items will get teleported like my bag scenario. (I've not tested this with a V35.)

However, if I'm far away from any loot spawns and drop some items on the ground - it'll stay there persistence

until someone picks it up though.

Impossible! Such a group could never exist haha.

(I still haven't done worse in 0.58 than beaching one on a low rock wall, knock on wood.)

Are all those new players in Elektro for PvP or?

I'm far north west on the map, but I've spotted no one at full servers the last 2 hours (3rd person).

I'm scouting for random heli crash sites, but it's always fun to shadow some 'new' players, hehe.

Yesterday evening I was also looking for other players around stary/veresnik/green mountain/nwaf on a full server. In three hours of playing I did not see anybody. Lirik played on exp yesterday and he saw many bambies on the coast...

It's a nice theory but if it goes to the nearest spawn point, why the police car and boats. So the theory isn't waterproof.

Here is my theory:

Like crash sites they want to make police cars and boats more dynamic and perhaps work on a separate loot table like crash sites. Because of this they get buggy and hog up all the loot from other loot locations. Therefore loot doesn't spawn at other spawn points anymore, resulting in less loot in houses and these loot explosions.

How is that for a theory? :D

I think that the concept of "loot tables" is not used with CLE any more. From my understanding it works like this: Spawn points have categories and a yield factor assigned.

Each item belongs to multiple categories (e.g. industrial, military, ...) and also has a factor assigned how common the item is. So there is no table that defines what items a location can spawn any more.

The server monitors the number of items and if the number is too small it starts spawning in new items. To spawn e.g. a can of food the CLE selects a spawn point that has the according categories assigned. Some buildings should have a higher yield and are selected with a higher probability. Since buildings currently don't have a "max number of items" check (mentioned in one of the recent status reports) and the selection is not random some buildings are always selected and we have a loot pile in there.

The CLE seems to work after a persistence reset and populates the map not too bad. It's not random enough if you ask me because certain houses always spawn a winchester after a reset.

But the respawning with persistence is obviously broken. My theory for the "police car loot explosions" is: the dynamic events were disabled for some time and got enabled now. The yield factor of the dynamic event locations is high compared to other locations and since there is no max item number check they are selected over and over again. This is only true for the according categories: Military items still spawn in tents since the police cars probably have no military category assigned.

It's great that item persistence is working though - a good start nonetheless.

I just got the server is stopping notice shortly after the scheduled 4 hour restart ... so it wasn't the typical restart message.
Last time I saw this they made some changes
There are no experimental servers up right now either
so it looks like something is happening  :)

Who can check Steam DB???

I've been keeping an eye on it, nothing yet.

Last activity was 13 hours ago- edit: (and that one didn't seem to effect experimental)

I think a dev mentioned that persistence has been working for some time. The respawning algorithm is not working correctly and so persistence was disabled.

Actually there is.First of all, the developers confirmed that crash sites are in fact on a different spawn and loot table. Why? I'll explain.

Take in example a M4. There are 3 crash sites, am I right? Say that the minimal is 1 for a M4. The clean up system runs every five seconds to check what needs to be despawned and what needs to be spawned. This would mean when a M4 is looted, it almost spawns in a new one immediately. Because there are only 3 crash sites, the chance is 1 out of 3 that a new M4 spawns right in front of you.

However because a can of beans in example has so many spawn points, this will have a very small chance that a new can spawns in the same house.

So in fact crash sites, police cars, etc. are or will be in a different loot table.

yeah for sure - the rarity of the item is important too.
I just hope 'rarity' doesn't involve what people have in their inventory and log out for like 2 weeks due to vacation for instance, but the item won't respawn, because he/she have that particular item in her/his inventory, but he/she is not online.
So it's always a good balance item distribution over the map - I hope items spawns less on the coast so people need to travel the map for mere survival emergency for instance, low on food for example.

The M4 spawning can also be implemented with categories: Create a category "us-military-loot" and put the M4 in it and only assign this category to us crash sites and you are done.

And we saw often piles of similar items e.g. clothing in the gun houses.

But I think we talk about the same thing - I just think that there is no table that defines the items that can spawn on a certain location any more (=loot table). The goal of the CLE is to break up the tight and hard to change "loot for location" configuration. I guess that the categories configuration is not stored in the game files but is loaded during runtime from a server so they can change the loot distribution without updating the game (like it happened with the box of nails).

Inventory and player containers are left out of the counting process. And eventually there will be more loot north because it doesn't get looted there so often.

The devs confirmed that items that have been picked up are not considered anymore and don't prevent items from respawning.

Ya, experimental is still offline - maybe a new update to 0.58?

The stable branch is online though.
