Speaking of tents,

 

Rocket said (I think at Rezzed) that they are exploring a different solution - making everything persistent, rather than designing a specific persistent "container".

 

Basically, one won't need a "tent". It will be enough to just put items on the ground and they will just stay there.

 

Wonder if this actually ever makes it into the game.

but what about performance?  how many objekts can stay on the ground before its to much. i think it would be more realistic and immersive when you need a container(tent,protectioncase,storage boxes) to safe your loot. loot on the ground get ruined after a while. thats what i have expected since i have found the first protectioncase.

 

i think it would be more performancefriendly when the devs put 90% of the loot into fridges,drawers,lockers. and other stuff. thats what we do in real to. we put thinks into thinks.humans love that :D

Also keep in mind that char wipes are also a problem in stable. I lost mine twice. So when you look how often you enter experimental and loose sessions, it stands to reason that you see more char wipes assuming that bug is still in experimental.

 

 

i never ever had a char wipe.   also met some dudes on a lan party (3 weeks agoe)  that where playing back in december and all of them had their green slug ammos!!!!   

 

perhaps the wipes only affect people which are impatient and log in directly after server updates or while maintenance.  just an assumption

This is another small annoyance that my wife and I found today. We could run just fine for about an hour or so, but then the session would disconnect. No big deal, just jump back into the server...right? No. On reentry we would be fresh spawns. This could be server related as we were only on UK servers, but it was a little annoying to have to find each other repeatedly through a 4 hour play session. Can anyone else confirm the character wipe on session loss?

Yes it happened to me twice on session lost , I just rejoined the server right after and my character was back :) .. I've experienced that on experimental a few patches back as well just not on session lost it would happen randomly once in a while .

Sadly, I have no idea. They only stated what options they are exploring.

They are actually planning on doing it this way.

Hey guys, is there a hunting knife already in the game? I've tried gutting a boar and a deer with my SKS bayonet today, even tried a sickle (I know I know!) in the process but no results.

There are a kitchen and a combat knife, not a hunting one, afaik...but it should work with bayonets...

it would be nice for start that we can have one backpack which will be permanent  - so that everything in the backpack to be permanent - so we can bury the backpack to some location only we know, and than later if we die or need something from that backpack we can dig up take and bury it again... 

 

Also m4 rifle and AKM and other small 3-4kg rifle should fit into that backpack but we need to take off all the parts from it (stock, grip, magazin etc.)

 

i think that would be realistic and great for start

I haven't found a 75 mag drum yet or the skeleton butt stock, but this is what I found out so far:

  • the akm can't use the pu scope, and the sks can't use the pso-1 scope, neither fit the long range scope
  • the wooden forend doesn't allow painting (paint cans have red background)
  • the wooden buttstock can only be painted black(the paint is non-uniform and looks terrible) although green paint has a orange background, and has combine with option, it states it can't be painted
  • the pso-1 has a magnification that seems greater then acog, possibly from seemingly larger visible area.
  • drink all is amazing
  • energy and hydration levels seems to deplete about 2-3x faster, well within an ability to keep up with, but does bring back the need to collect food/water which I very much like
  • fireaxe is back to one hit zombie killer
  • NWAP (in its entirety) doesn't have any m4 anything, except for loose rounds and packaged rounds (3-4 fresh server run throughs), there is sks & mosin supplies. on the last run I found the akm, so it may be rare, or just bad luck.

that's all I got for now :)

But there's one thing that makes me tick : having to double click endlessly trying to get into a server

Step 1: click on server name

Step 2: click connect

Step 3: press enter

Step 4: repeat step 3 until you get in the server

It's a bit easier and faster that way.

someone experiencing session lost and crash of dayz.exe about every 30 min of gameplay, too?

As one time there were 2 others playing with me and we all lost our chars at a server restart, I disagree here. Somehow there was no update of our chars to the hive, i guess. We were on that server for more than an hour... . If you want to write this in a netral way, you might want to say something like "take a 5 min break when switching servers" or the like instead of the using the word impatient ;). Either way, I don't think that was the problem.

A machete works, too. The option only came with the cow I killed after hitting it a few more times, maybe it was only unconscious, not dead, might be the same with the the deer... It was also a pain to find the right place on the cow to get the option. I think the sks bayonet is a little bugged, I was not able to open cans with it yesterday.

I know most ppl want it that way as you describe with the burried backpack, but there is nothing realistic about a single survivor hiding something, dying and a new survivor getting that information after 30 seconds respawn time telepathically. I only ever played SA, so I am a little worried about hoarders emptying servers and no new loot being generated, after all, there is enough on the server. Even if loot generation will not be a problem, I also like the fact of having to start over, I worry about ppl hoarding stuff to immediatelly gearing up and the life of your char becoming worthless that way. The game is then also reduced to all ppl running around geared up all the time. You should really want to survive. If you only loose the stuff you carry around and have several stashes of the same lying around everywhere on the server, I worry about how that will change ppl's gameplay, if they don't value their lives. But maybe I worry needlessly, as the current Berezino situation shows that those actually trying to stay alive for some time are a small minority. Maybe I wish for something that is already irrevocably gone...

kinda makes people to work in teams and divide rols in teams (cooking, medic, hunting, and when wehicles come: mechanic)

 

camps and bases will become more than just loot tents  :)

Remember him saying that too but I think persistent containers like tents, bagbacks or crates should be a in anyway and would be a good start or basic solution. I am btw not a fan of making everything persistent since people would just create huge loot piles instead of managing their container inventory....

Played some mroe EXP last night, managed to get a bunch of AKM parts & cook some deer steaks but couldn't find a single gun except an SKS. Also hit up NEAF, NWAF & there were only 2 guns total in all of the buildings, between the two AF. I even got into the NWAF after the server restarted & I was right there, so I was first to loot. Again, barely anything. Have they "nerfed" spawn loots in AF to force people to visit other cities?

as I said previously, all the m4 stuff has been removed, also, floored tents no longer seem to spawn anything, between those two things, there's a lot less there

You test with small groups. If they get what they need from 3-4 servers why open it up to more? The next step is moving to stable.

Yeah, I was expecting no M4 loot, but between 1 NEAF and 2x NWAF AF all I found were a buncha pistols and 2 sks. No AKM, no Mosin & only 1 UK Assault vest & 1 TTsKO pants. Seems quite low considering I made 3 visits & 2 of those were when no one else had been there.

 

I also noticed the tents spawn either none or 1-2 things now too, a lot less. Guess it's forcing peopel to go to more towns, which is what I ended up doing.

Military weapons will more and more become rare (endgame like) items...means you will have to use melee weapons or civillian guns for a longer time before getting the good stuff.This has always been the plan. If you want better stuff you have to survive for a longer time which means you have to avoid fights where ever you can...

Will stop a lot of this KoS shit....
