Technical question, how can you prevent ppl from changing gamma and brightness in the driver? If it gives better spotting abilities, ppl will continue doing that. What about changing it on the monitor? I don't see how this will change. At that point we could also start about ppl having better monitors than others and seeing more. Not trying to troll here, but what to do? Don't know how a rendered night setting would look like that ppl would not try to change for better visibility.

I don't know if the idea is forced by the community, have never heard anyone proclaiming we need it. I see two main aspects, 1st the new possibilities and 2nd the once again shrinking map. Short things first, with servers with 80+ ppl, just to say a number, and parts of the map getting taken out unless u have a gas mask, I am not sure, where exactly one should build his bases. But I have always worried about too many ppl on servers generally, in my mind 40 or 50 is plenty, but hey. The thing with new possibilities depends on exactly what is in those areas. Maybe some exclusive loot that is needed in bases somewhere, don't aks me what exactly :). Now if ppl need to get that "loot" in certain intervals, in order to get some gimmick in their bases, why not, something else to do. The only thing that comes to mind now is some kind of chemical lighting or power device. What's the idea for supporting camps (like from the "general idea" presentation of hicks) with electricity anyways? Using a truck as a generator and refueling till eternity? Not saying my ideas here are original at all, but everything that allows or forces you to do more in the game takes time away from putting bullets into ppls heads. And thinking of pvp ... sorry ... it would be interesting for lone wolf sniper dudes to use such an area as a relatively safe area to run from the ppl they missed, hoping they can't follow without circling around :). Environment can always be used. After all there was a thread some time ago where ppl were proclaiming what a great idea a huge mountain would be, one you need extremely warm clothing and maybe even oxigen tanks to climb iirc. All in all I think contaminated areas could enrich the game. Not that they will. Certainly not, if the devs don't have better ideas about them than I do.

I disagree, when you hold your gun and it sways around, you still have a feeling where and how it is swaying, not only with your eyes, but with your body. On the monitor you only see the gun move around...I would prefer to have a moving crosshair but highly increased dispersion when not looking down the sights to "simulate" the inaccuracy of not aiming. I am playing with an HD5770. That is definitely my bottleneck, got an i5 2400 and 8gb ram. You should name exactly what gpu you are planning to use, the 5770 is playable. I know ppl playing on low resolution with worse gpus. The cpu is harsh, a bit more than 1/4 of my cpu performance, and I think I would also benefit from a better cpu...

    Kill at all costs

Or you simply turn off postprocessing. I don't know about the current situation but a year ago a grey screen indicated blood loss (obviously still does) and a blurry screen indicated health loss. That can be turned off by disabling postprocessing. Now some purists say that you should not deactivate a feature, but I hate that feature: 1. It's bugged (or not working correctly), even when at full health the screen will be less blury without postprocessing (or was a year ago). 2. Those who leave it on are at a great disadvantage to those who deactivate it. But even if it were forced, I would hate it. You get shot, the assailant knows where you are, you don't know where he is and you can find him with a blurred vision ... in terms if gameplay I don't like giving the attacker even better ods as he already has at that point. Tbh kill at all costs is fine with me. I never kill anyone who has no gun, unless he attacks, but I don't mind it.

    Stable Branch - 0.57 Discussion

Makes sense that the inside is not larger any more than the outside ... from that perspective it should stay that way. Don't like it though, finding those and having the disadvantage of an additional level in the inventory management should have a gameplay perk imo, the two slots were that. Well, there is the protection part, but who really wants or needs them because of that? And how much does it really help? One could argue that using containers like cases, med kits, ... let's you store more by better organisation ... not in terms of real volume obviously.

    Stable Branch - 0.57 Discussion

In my experience, relogging is a way to fix "broken" inventory problems or all kind, often used when something is messed up. Celebrate kosers! Hard survival with scarce loot is easy to come by in Don't Starve, great game! And to actually write something constructive, even when being friendly, assume the worst and move accordingly. If you want to give rice to ppl, fine, do it in a location though where you can somewhat control the situation and keep moving. Not just left and right, that still makes you an easy kill from the side. And without the glorious kosers I would be bored to hell and back. And I do kos, too :). The thing about Don't Starve being a good game was serious, too, everyone not knowing it should check it out! Any idea why? Here is my C:\Users\THE_WORLDS_GREATES_USERNAME\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg : 3D_Performance=93750; is in line 3 ... check your DayZ.cfg at that location and just paste my value, IF and only IF it is not in the file. Should other values be missing, too, continue setting mine (or those of others) and adjust your values in the ingame settings after that ... if that helps you, if not, no idea. But the error message tells you, that that value is not set in the file... .

Unless my brain is playing me a VERY extreme joke, I saw plenty of Gorka jackets and pants on prison island in 0.57. Also in 0.56. Just like in 0.56 the prison seems to be a mall in terms of clothing. It's just overflowing.

Yes, but I doubt it. Also iirc they wanted to not put more work in the old sound system and fix it in the new one. Read nothing about them putting the new system in, I'm pretty sure they would have communicated that.

I heard stacking sounds when I was alone in the middle of nowhere, but not many ... server was close and full. Not many, but a few, don't remember hearing can opening sounds.

There was a long discussin in an extra thread when they removed the reload sound when logging in. I love it. I got shot several times with ppl logging in behind me in cleared buildings. Mostly military buildings and probably therefore hoppers. I never got shot when logging out myself iirc. Of course there are disconnects and other problems, but not getting shot in the back by a hopper is nice. Shot a guy with a sawed off shotty in Kamenka. Heard some shots, waited, went to a somewhat hidden bush and there comes the dude. I followed him to the house he went into and then dayz happened. First I fired 2 shots from point blank into him when he ran outsidethen my shotty started automatically reloadingAll the while he crawled outside and pushed my character into the house. At that point I saw that he had no gun, but any bad feelings had already vanished when he called me a son of a bitch. (this is not relevant concerning the glitchiness, just emphasised on his survival strategy at that point. The other part of that strategy was outcrawling me with his broken legs.)Pulling the trigger showed that the reload animation was just a fakeI then reloaded by hand, it showed the gun as loaded with 0 bullets, like the shells were still attached, but with the count of 0.I executed him, still had one shell in the gun and the reloading sound came again, but not the animation. He had nothing, I ran away. But the shotgun quirks kept coming: I ejected the single shell and reloaded again which gave me 2 reload animations (as it should) but 4 reload sounds. Then I had two additional stacks of shotty shells in my inventory, with the count of 0 and 1 respectively from the reloads. I could not drop them, move them, combine them or do anything else. After relogging the stack with 0 shells was gone and the one with 1 shell could be combined. Like some other things I mentioned in my earlier post, the inventory has real trouble managing both manual changes done with the inventory and game changes like in this case the ejected shell or the hotbar earlier. Moral of the story, if you get gunned down but survive, have no weapon and try to outcrawl the assailant who is 2 meters behind you reloading his weapon, it will not prolong your life to insult the other player's mother ... or the player ... or his pet, really. Btw it was -MOFOS-TilYDeaN, the name excuses any kos anyway :).

Oooookay, just finished my char pretty much up, improv backpack, winchester, sawed off shotty, swam to the prison and .... well clothes without end again ... the only thing I might want would be "better" weapons, hunting scope ... the elusive stuff that should be rare. Then MEMORY ACCESS ERROR, something about something being unreadable .... aaaaaand I got a wiped char.

    Exp Update: 0.57128035*

Merino did great videos, but that was a year ago. The most current video i know of the topic is from WOBO, think it is called secondary stats something ... that says 0.5 water / second needed for jogging. 8m54s = 534 sec ... seems more like 1 water / second now with those figures while jogging ... unless I misunderstood your test, or they played around with light green hydration start, or you were not actually at 4000 water, or they started implementing some sweating / exhaustion thingy, or ... omg, the possibilites. Either way, assuming you were not overheating (or something else), used up 500ml of water, and were continuously jogging, it's obvious that WOBO's numbers are not correct any more. So, after you all cleared out the servers for hours, I was able to play some now. Some things I found and some tips so you don't feel the pain I did: Food definitelly respawns, at least soda cans. Absolutely impossible that there would have been those left where I found them.Apple spamming is still a thing, although it did not work great. Still, I think they will / should do it like with berries, where continuously spamming the action button will cancel the action.DO NOT MIX hotbar actions with regular inventory actions ... for example, do not fill up a canteen, leave it in your hands and then use a hotbar key to take out your weapon ... the canteen will be gone. Same goes with other things. Seems to me like using the hotbar will not put anything back into the inventory. Now if you have for example a sawed off shotty in the backpack and a winchester on your back, both on hotkeys, you can switch them around as you like, BUT the first time the shotty is equipped with the hotkey, it vanishes from the inventory. Then when switching back to the winchester, it does not appear in the inventory again. You can still equip it again with the hotkey, but it's messed up with the inventory. So whenever you do something else than switching out weapons, make sure to unequip your hands in the inventory. No idea what will happen, if the game tries to put back for example a sawed off shotty because you want to drink and there is no room in the inventory. When double yielding, drop one gun to the ground, before you do something. If you do not, one of your guns vanishes ... for me the one already on the back. Good news: it was simply lieing on the ground after I relogged after that, so that still works.I was not able to craft a single splint, it always vanished, had plenty of room in the inventory. Also crafting splints using up a complete stack of rags is still a thing.I was not able to take some clothing, also some other gear, a gas canister comes to mind ... was hoping that that is not a thing any more. Found 2 dresses in a "food house" as well as a raincoat, happily ripped up my shirt and then continued on without top wear. Some of the clothes I could not take I ripped into rags, that worked every time I tried.Jumping did NOT always work, but almost. There is still delay sometimes, once I went full sprint towards a fence, jumped, and after I was already running against the fence, my char finally decided to climb over that thing ... not new, but I listed it because iirc someone wrote it works every time... my memory might be wrong thereI am not really all that energized, but also not hungry, picked one apple and maybe 5 berries I think. Found no canned food but one tacbac and one can of tuna, no dry food, but several cans of soda. "Food houses" seem to again spew out lots of clothing again. Ups, forgot, there are no "food houses" according to ... was it Hicks? ... but you know what I mean.

    Exp Update: 0.56.127TheBeast.

I think you interpret too much into your numbers. I played SA since january last year, 1y+ in groups. In that time I played with maybe 30 different ppl over time. Ppl come and go, from our group there are exactly 4 who are still playing SA. And these 4 are in the group for 1y+ now. And out of those 4 not one can stomach the current stable. And that has nothing to do with sicknesses starvation or zombies, more with technical aspects and balancing. And of those 3 others ONE still sometimes reads something on this forum. And definitely all three of them think I'm an absolute idiot for wasting energy writing in this forum. And while we are all interested in what the devs will give us concerning survival, bases, ... I would not consider us uninterested in PvP, quite the opposite. Concerning KoS, I do not remember the last time in exp or stable, when someone got the drop on me and did not shoot on site UNLESS he did not have anything to begin with. All friendly encounters I can remember in recent history were with me deciding to engage in a friendly manner. I don't see a change there, really. With the game as it currently going for pvp is also not that great of an idea. Ppl run, stop and while the are actually standing, they slide back, because the servers pulls them back, or at least that's what I think the reason is. Read Eugen's twitter from yesterday and you will find a lot of stuff concerning sway, holding breath including bugs that are in there currently. Then the Mosin with lrs is bugged in stable, you shoot and the gun points straight into the sky. Oh, almost forgot, when you shoot, you aim further up, but your aim does not come down again. Actually is that still a thing? And the all time favourite, no sound for shots. There you are, getting shot, and you have no idea where from, because you just don't hear shots. That one in particular has driven away lots of PvP guys for months. Oh, forgot to name desync, nothing to explain there. That does not mean, those ppl won't come back though, when things get ironed out. Unless that stuff is not ironed out in the end, but that's a different thing. PvP in total is currently just not much fun.

    Exp Update: 0.56.127TheBeast.

That's exactly what I disliked. It turned into a "doesn't matter where we go" thing. No motivation to risk going to "dangerous" mil areas. Also resulted in not finding ppl, because they were everywhere. Especially for "more worthy" combat gear I like having choke points where you have a high risk of dying. After reading all this about the running speeds, I think I should elaborate on how I reached the sprinting is 50% faster than jogging thing from above. Ppl tested quite a bit, respect. Iirc some time ago at least running speed was dependant on your exhaustion. Think I saw a video about that. again, if memory serves right, you were able to sprint faster with a rifle in your hands then without one ... provided you were not exhausted at all. Then you started to become slower and when exhausted, running with a rifle was finally slower than with empty hands. Or was it the same speed at the beginning? Well, the important thing was that I remembered that you are/were supposedly slower when exhausted. I tested jogging vs sprinting on the main road in zelenogorsk, just in front of the mil compound. I started with sprinting full speed for a few minutes and then did the same distance again and again always starting exhausted. I tried point to point, but you get quite far in a minute sprinting, so I switched to running from point to point while trying to always run exactly in the middle of the road. I got some values like 37 seconds vs 54 seconds, did not do longer runs, but quite a few of these. I am actually quite sure about my results, don't think I would be off 6.6% with my sprinting speed being too slow (someone said it's 60% instead of 50). Gotta do that again, it seems :) Just don't know yet, when I find the time... . BTW the the slight going down when running south there did not impact the results, it did not matter if I went north or south, the times were the same. So there is no slightly different speed when running as long as you don't see your character go to jogging speed.
