So, I am well over a kilometer away from my camp and still have 1 fps. Must be something with the client as well, as I'm taking the lag with me? Gonna have to play on a different server for a while.

Little update for the loot on private server:

I found a Mosin in a holiday-camp - strange spawn point for a rifle but maybe, if we gather all those points, we can improve looting-routes. Nevertheless I assume that 10 - 20 hrs to find a proper gun is far to much time.

Ammo isn't a problem any more. Found mor stacks of ammo than ammo in boxes - just check a row of houses with opened inventory to learn the places where those stacks can spawn. Gathered arround 200 rounds of winchester ammo since yesterday.

Tents and barrels are still not findable so a improvised backpack is maybe the most common way to set up a storage-camp atm. It also looks like some items (in my case a ammoclip) aren't cleaned up properly.

Another funny thing: Pick-Up trucks seem to spawn canned tuna only :D

And last but not least a question about loot respawn:

Often when I loot some houses at the back country I loot one room, then the 2nd and when I return to the first some food respawned. Never saw that happen when I looted cities which where closer to any spawn areas. Did you experience sth. similar? Is the amount of spawning loot getting higher as you get more distance between you and the spawn areas?

Don't, its still bugged! I tried eating meat with charcoal tabs handy in both exp and stable and I still couldn't cure the illness.

i could heal myself yesterday. two times the vomit, charcoal & antibiotics in -> back to healthy.

I've got food poisoning at least 3 times now the last couple were basically on purpose. If you're full energized-hydrated-healthy it's doable without anything other than food and water. I had some misunderstandings of a WOBO video that I just "got" after the last time about the charcoal but haven't found any to try but antibiotics shouldn't do anything for food poisoning just an infection from stitching wounds. If you take the charcoal early on you can bypass some of the damage over time effects it works on, if you don't your recovery will be longer and you may die if you weren't in peak condition when you got it. I'm not sure force vomiting by over eating/drinking doesn't hurt more than it helps, didn't try it.

Did you actually somewhat manage to stack your backpack full of layers of clothes? heard it still somehow works.

IIR, one of the devs said that the server starts spamming the client with so many status messages, that the client becomes unresponsive. Sounds somewhat similar to a DDoS attack.

Ever since the military vehicles stopped spawning weapons, they and the p/u truck have a very slight chance of spawning tuna.

IRL, vomiting should help if you contract food poisoning. But in game, I think that you simply loose more blood and become more dehydrated, every time that you vomit. I expect that this mechanism will be fleshed out, as more diseases and remedies are added to the mix.

So, will any meat make me sick now? I just got some deer steak but unsure whether I should munch it or not.

edit: I am pretty sure all the meat (or the cooking mechanic) is borked atm. The actual item seem to get cooked but the description never changes into 'cooked meat steak' or similar. Therefor we basically always eat raw meat which make us sick.

No stacked clothes, or clothes with items inside. Going to log back on to that toon and see if I have any containers in my backpack and if so, if getting rid of them helps.

i had problems healing myself without vomiting, its been a while but since then i stick with it. i took the charcoals more than 30 minutes after getting sick and had been healed instantly. dont know if the antibiotics were needed, took them as i was desperate.

vomiting doesnt hurt you in that sense, it just lowers energy and hydration.

some news to the loot front:

- magazines, e.g. mosin clips remain longer than other stuff

- many lootlocations had been changed (e.g. tents, car batteries), which leads to the impression that they would be rare. especially tents are an easy find, they spawn like crazy, but only in one kind of building. look where you didnt look in the past.

- the "new" buildings are spawning now.

regarding camps:

- lag has defnitely something to do with the amount of containers. Get rid of protector cases, ammo boxes, medikits & disassemble plate carriers (and if you find a bunch of theese somewhere in the woods, just turn around and dont come back - plz ;P). dont stack items, dont use the trucks inventory if parked in camp. wont solve the problem totally, but makes a big difference.

today a fireplace with stacked wood killed the area of our camp - took it away, lag was gone.

- sometimes it helps to log out, you get enough time to get rid of all the garbage.

I'm guessing the antibiotics were the trick, I tried the old method of charcoal, puking, hydrating/energizing and puking again but to no avail.

first the puking, as soon as you get funny messages, then retrieve what you need (food, water, charcoal), puke, energize/ hydrate ->  then the charcoal

puking meds just if overdoesed ;P

I think containers in containers might be an issue, and possibly items in containers. Had deer steaks in a frying pan in a frying pan, and Cmags in a pot. Took everything out of containers and got control of my toon back. Went from 1 fps to average of 15fps. No problem moving or interacting. Got back to my camp, froze and lost session again. Gonna see what other containers I have with items in them, or at least containers in containers. Maybe try and move that tire out of camp as well.

All cooked meat and fish has a chance to get you sick.

As far as I know there's a blood loss component to puking which doesn't help with the blood loss from being sick to start with. If you ride it out you puke when it changes from first to second stage anyways, not sure if charcoal makes you puke without the blood loss and or bump you through a stage of sick. Had no luck finding charcoal tabs now that I'm looking for them.

I want to try a side by side test with forced vomiting vs charcoal when I find some, I don't see why you'd take charcoal after you already puked?

So far out of three or so tries I've lived all getting it from fish then just eating more fish through it because you can't get sick again while you're already sick.

also this whole mechanic is bullshit in the first place. If it is cooked it should be safe!

I think the CLE is not spawning all items fast enough, or in big enough numbers. After the server starts fresh with the 0.58 patch we are in an ideal situation, but then it just seems to stagger on respawn. I'm mostly missing backpacks, which don't seem to re-spawn in big enough numbers. At least I find enough burlap and rope.

The thing is - if you played right after the patch, you most likely have a camp or two by now and don't notice these things that much. However, for the fresh spawn the situation is quite different.

False, I could survive easily with spawned food (dry food, cans, etc.). It was a bit harder finding weapons and ammo but it shouldn't be a WalMart simulator like someone said before.

I'm guessing the antibiotics were the trick, I tried the old method of charcoal, puking, hydrating/energizing and puking again but to no avail.

I always cured it by eating one or more charcoal tabs.

It is just bugged at the moment. Cooking meat will never get you sick but it will if cooking is bugged.

They reported it in the status report and maybe it will be fixed in the next hotfix.

Oh really, my results say otherwise, it is broken but I lived off fish the first week of stable. First try was the eighteenth piece but the second or third was after the third or fourth piece. I will try make my way back to my fishing camp and video some results with 2 characters after family dinner tonite and prove there are no 100% in DayZ early access.

So do you understand the underling mechanic with charcoal?

It stops one or more of the stages of "sick" status, correct?

I so hate that this issue is not tackled... yes, report the server. The server owners will be very interested in loosing a paying customer.... this is like asking an alcoholic to guard a beer depot. I wonder why they even bothered with the new rules for server owners. And why forum mods keep referring to "reporting the server" ;=)    I do wonder, if ANY server ever has been taken down for this reason. ;)

Let's get it over with: Nothing will be done, we just have to pick different servers and accept it as part of the game.

At least they are active against cheaters, kudos to the devs here.

But this leads off topic, so I don't want to continue this here.

Reports on servers that come through us do get logged. If it's a repeat offender, the server gets shut down until the GSP can get in contact with the admins and let them know that they have to abide by the server hosting rules. If the admins still refuse to do so, the server gets shut down permantently.

This clip was staying there for more than 12 hrs - that's to long. I also see a lot of loot, which seems to stay untouched by anyone and does not despawn after a while.

Think of a normal player - how much time can he/she spend on the game? I agree with u that food isn't the problem but weapons (the "normal" one that you can find at civillian areas) for example, should be accessible for all players in a appropriate amount of time. If a normal player can spend 1-2hrs on the game per session, he/she should have any usefull gun after the 2nd or at least after the 3rd session. I don't want to say that everyone should get his favourite gun and equipment "for free" but pvp is and also will be a big part of the game. I agree, that there should be more player interaction and less KOS in the future but I also think that alternation between base building, hunting etc. and fighting keeps the game alive.  And forward-looking to the next patches: Why would you build a base, if there never would be other players which try to crack it? ;)

Pristine Jerry can despawned in front of me while I was fiddling with some other stuff. Pristine car battery despawned within like 15 minutes while I was fiddling with stuff around camp. Gonna have to stop fiddling so much!

Going forward, I believe that fresh food will have a shelf life. Eating this food after the shelf life has expired, cooked or no, will (and should) have a good chance of making you sick.

So, it is not borked, neither is it bulllshit. It is merely incomplete.

I think weapons are among the easiest to find, actually. Mags are a bit harder, but still easy with some patience. I was merely talking about some everyday items, mostly the backpacks that seem a bit hard to find, especially coastside. Might be that has to do with the player items not getting cleaned up, might be intentional. I do come across a green/orange/blue mountain backpack occasionally, but usually it takes quite a hike to find one. Most of the time I'll craft a pack, since burlap and rope seem more frequent than actual backpacks. But okay, you will find a Talon backpack in almost any town, if you look hard enough.

It would make sense though. If all the big packs spawned at the coast, people would just carry everything they find away, instead of heading north and inland. I don't think I've ever played longer than an hour without finding any backpack, it's still acceptable. I played private and public hive and the private seemed to be a little less looted - but it was also less populated.

The private hive I spend the most time on seems to have a decent amount of loot. Probably only about 2-4 people on at one time max, out of about 10 people I've seen on the player list. When my camp was frozen up I went to another private with 20+ other players on at the time and holy crap, I was finding way more loot. Must have to do with more people picking up stuff all over the map, thus spawning more stuff all over the map. Went back to my normal server, got my camp working again and the difference in loot is very noticeable. Although, I'm geared up enough and with enough seeds, gardening stuff, rabbit snares, fish hooks, etc. that I don't really ever need to go into a town again. Until the next wipe that is.

Kind of at loose ends as to want to do now. Think maybe I will start hunting for the elusive boar, so I can make a leather improvised backpack.
