.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

Recommended Posts

I'd say grabbing all that from a single police station in Berezino is considered close enough to the beach.

So where are all these "no lootz, FML" post coming from? If tents were working I'd be geared for weeks right now.

Ive actually noticed that it's getting better as the loot table slowly balances out.

Its taken a while but theres more loot now.

itll be more logical when the heat maps are done

It's the people that learned to play the game solely through online maps and because there was an abundance of everything they never learned to take care of themselves. That's all it is to it.

They can't gear up in 10 minutes to kill people, they come on here to scream.

Meanwhile us hardcore folk that have been playing the mod since 2012 are finally getting a bit worth out of the game...

I agree, here. The streamers I'm watching who compain about loot are STILL spot looting from their previous loot route. It's infuriating. They even say, "I am checking everywhere, bro, why u mad" , yet he'll run by 4 houses to get to the police station. Some people should have been swallowed.

I started in December or January and have no experience with the mod. I did read the roadmap before I bought in and it was a little disappointing at first. I love the way .55 is going and it's shaping up to be the game I've been wanting since the '80s. I really hope the devs stick to their vision and don't cater to the casual crybabies who already have enough ADHD no attention span games because I've been down that road before.

You appear to lack the ability to think logically.  First off, while an apocalypse is happening, the survivors would go for weapons right away, and they would start dying in firefights over food, zombies, etc...  That would bring some reality to the current loot spawns:  Anywhere and everywhere except the obvious places!

Also, it did not take any "skill" to go to a military base and get loot.  You always knew where the loot was, every server restart.  That's not "skill".  That's exploiting known drops.  Now that the loot is all over the map, the real skill lies in surviving and finding what you need through trial and error!

As for your numbers, my 99+% figure is the population a few years after a major event.  Perhaps only 60% of the population died at first, and the other 39+% died from starvation, or fighting each other, or zombie bites, whatever?  Alas, the 39% could easily loot every major building, especially considering grocery stores, for example, only have enough food to feed the surrounding community for a few days at any given time.

Going to military bases to get military loot isn't exploiting anything. It's using logic, albeit simple logic, and soon when there's dozens of zombies at every military location it will take an extreme amount of skill to stay alive and loot up. You seem like your one of those people that wants everything handed to them through luck. That's not how the game works, believe it or not. And loot isn't really even tied to server restarts anymore, since it updates every ~15 seconds and spawns/removes items. And if everyone really did go to military bases to loot up then there should be huge piles of loot on bodies nearby, since they would have killed each other and the winners would most likely be shot by others or eaten by zombies that heard the shots. Anyways, it's pointless to rationalize on what would happen in the Dayz apocalypse, since we don't know enough about it, and so thus both of our ideas about the apocalypse are pointless. Ultimately, it's up to the Dayz devs to decide on loot spawns, and something tells me they don't care about the opinions of two random people on the internet. Although If the apocalypse does happen in real life, I'm sure we can find each other before the internet goes down and argue over where the loot should be.

Actually, every body that I have talked too thinks the loot system is broken, because it is. Some servers have no loot while others have a ton, and the loot bomb is still happening. Also, loot is more random now, which isn't fun. While I definitely agree that loot should be more rare, 90% random loot ruins the immersion. When I go to a military base I shouldn't find a potato and a broom, but maybe and empty mag and an attachment.

The problem is that loot is scooped up within the first day, and no new loot spawns for several days. If I search an entire town, i shouldn't find just a damaged rain coat and shoes. Even with an apocalypse, loot wouldn't be that rare.

Actually, you would find a fuckload of brooms and potatoes at a military base. You can even say that you could feed an army with those potatoes, because that's exactly what they're for there.

If it helps, you can come up with stories behind the loot, as I believe that's what the randomness is trying to mimic. An AK mag in a shitter in Dubrovka - we've got a sloppy deserter. A broom at the NWAF - maybe it belonged to the 'cleaning lady' who just tried to claw your eyes off a moment ago?

I believe you can come up with plausible backgrounds for many different kind of loot distributions, representing various stages of panic and disorder following the military's falling back, which in itself could be more or less (dis)organized. So I guess what is really important about the loot is that it should work gameplay-wise, i.e. be not too easy, too hard, too monotonous, etc. In short, it should make for a good game. The story behind can be made up in 10 minutes.

Personally, I wouldn't call the current system 'broken', although sometimes it is a drudgery to go through 10 completely empty houses (I've always checked almost everywhere even before 0.55). And the full randomness of course is a bit too much, I do want at least certain tendencies and I do want learning them an important part of dayz know-how. This we can agree on.

I haven't run into a loot bomb yet, but of course this means that the system is not without its problems. The things I want to stay are: 1) keep most/all buildings interesting, 2) make gearing up very/extremely hard.

After a while on the server we have now some real trouble finding food. We just started planting fruits. But we cant generate new seeds from the harvest? We followed the crafting reciept from the wiki. But it didnt work. However, hunting and fishing is pritty useless, we were 3-9 players and couldnt find a pot or a pan or matches within 3 days. Can we pls get crafting back?

Btw knife sharping seems to ddint work too.

Yeah, I am throwing a tantrum, I pay $110 a month for a now useless server till they un break things. And have spent well over 2 grand on the game just buying it for other people. I understand the alpha thing, but it seems most others do not. We are helping test the game and find out what does and does not work. This does not work but yet everyone cries when that is said and throws the "it's an alpha" at everything. And as I said, I search everywhere. I allways have yet everyone says the same things again. It's not searching in the wrong locations, it's the loot simply not being there. The costal cities should never be empty or they should move spawns around the entire map. I understand that this "might" be fixed next patch but it should not have been forced till fixed. IMO never forced at all.

I agree with the whole statement, and those that think this is the final stages your mistaken. This isn't the dayz final, stop defending it with a handful of people. Your testing the bugs and new loot, plain and simple. Just your paying the devs to test it for them. I walked away till final release. Not spending another dollar so others can hop servers and pvp elsewhere.

I only ask that more matches or means to light a fire are added everything else i can live without or craftable

But there is only one method that i know of to light a fire

I otherwise like the system as it is now 2017 style gives me good feels when i find a bad in a field

Once i get back to my "camp" i have to follow up on a sporter i moved that has not despawned in 2 days

I also have 2 bags to get also

I am very much enjoying at hope desperate loot has now become to travel halfway across the map for a bag

Anyone else expirience chopper staying in the same place and not loot spawning over a couple days ?

I have no idea what people are in about. Since the update, I've found a mp5 and heads of ammo, enough food so I am energised and healthy. All my clothing is pristine, I have a press vest and am enjoying the challenge of being stealthy to avoid zombies.

And I have changed server only once.

Not sure if I am playing a different game or...?

That's the issue, police cars and I assume police stations are pilled with loot, you can get geared instantly in there. I doubt they wanted that with this patch.

After 90 minutes of work on a public server

Good for you, you found a broken police station.

I've played a couple of private hives and a couple of public and the difference is night and day. The private are barren, public have less loot than .54 but still plenty. Police stations and more so jeeps on public are better than heli crashes.

So basically your experience of .55 depends on the server you play on. I can totally understand both arguments on loot.

Military Items are spawning on the steps of these buildings:

land_mil_guardhouse.jpg

found a few AK mags and furniture for them, as well as a CR527 mag.

Don't tell them!

This is my first post, long time lurker, etc. All I'm going to say is that loot should spawn, where in real life you would think it would be, a logical place.

If, in real life I go to a fire station, I would indeed expect to find 10/10 times, fire station related stuff.Mmkay.

The same goes for a military base, a police station, hell even a supermarket, house, shed etc.

An example or two.

Random house in a town has a press jacket.

House next door has a plate carrier.

House next door to that has hardhats, lots of hard hats, every colour of the rainbow.

When I go looting a house I expect to see loot in obvious places, a broom in the corner, food on the table, a pair of shoes at the door, a bag of fertiliser in the shed, ....

What I have observed with dayz in the past number of updates, is without a shadow of a doubt, 'inconsistencies' in loot placement.

When I go looting a military or police location I do not expect see random bags of fertiser lying around, hoes, seeds, hardhats, and all the other civilian stuff. I do expect some civilian loot, but man not the amount of it placed as of right now.

All you guys\girls that are defending this need to take off the fanboy and fangirl hats.It is broken, your fanboyism is blinding you.

The devs, are in no doubt, trying to fix it.They know its FUBAR.

I'm all for a randomised loot system, but hell, the way it is now is just broken.

TL:DR

The loot placement system is not logical.

all i need to know is.... where do i find smersh backpacks now D:

Found a smersh backpack and vest in the same town, the vest inside a wooden shed and the backpack on top of a red car.

Looks like they can spawn in civ loot pools now.
