Happens to me all the time.  Beware the V3S glitched into a building or another vehicle, kills me every time as soon as I try to drive away.  I will go into "x" mode for movement up stairs and on higher floors.  This has greatly reduced my getting killed by a glitch type of fall.

I used to take off my pants and boots, drop my ruck and rifle too before going up some stairs even.  This would save my pants and boots from getting ruined if I broke my legs.  A really bad place for this broken thing are the circular stone stairs at the prison.  Coming off that first catwalk back down those stairs have broken my legs twice.

I appreciate the tips, Barnabus! I have fell through a roof twice and it happened both times on top of the small office building.

So when can we expect the new loot system to be re-introduced? Tomorrow? Or next week?

So, every Tuesday's question:

will our tents be kept after tomorrow's maintenance? Persistence is still supposed to be on right and no item wipes? I always packed everything up the last two updates and it was completely unneccessary.

Like I wrote before: lots of people would appreciate some info about wipes and resets in advance. Any news on the update yet?

You mean the Central Loot Economy? It won't be back until 0.56.

There will not be any more unannounced persistence wipes on a schedule like we had previously. If it does go back to that, we will be given notice ahead of time.

I'm actually surprised that some of my camps have held on as long as they have. Eugen had originally said that persistent items would typically stick around for 9 to 12 days. There was a camp I'm sure went untouched for over two weeks, and yet all of my stuff was still there when I went back to it. Needless to say, I have a lot more faith in persistence than I used to. Not sure I would say "full confidence", but we're getting there.

Well I just started a new life waiting for .56 experimental , I've decided I can't wait any longer lol ... I jump into UK alliance first person server 15/40 people on , I spawn in NOvo for the first time in months , so naturally I was ready to check if the tower had lootsplosion ... Never got to the tower lol , first I found some food and Water , then decided to check the police station ... As I approach the second door on the second floor , I hear a creak , but to my dismay my reflexes are a second late as I continue to walk into the door frame , I see a man weilding a longhorn (presumably empty as he didn't fire on me) I quickly stated I was friendly and not looking for trouble ( my new favorite phrase) and he's startled as well , as he replies in a shaky voice: " it's ok man you're good" So I wish him luck and run away like a pesky rabbit , completely forgetting to tell him the number of mines I layed about Novo just for the Lulz , please nice friendy British man , don't go near any orange brick buildings !!

Can you shoot mines to blow them up from a safe distance?

I don't think so , but then again I haven't tried lol , I know the zombie didn't trigger it , oh and also I don't know if this was updated somehow but when you activate the mine it gives you three seconds to get away before it gets activated !

That is the biggest reason why I haven't experimented with mines yet. I was sure I was gonna blow myself up. Time to get naked for science.

It seems it is update week :)

Yesterday Take on Mars (anyone has the changelog?), today Arma3, so the only answer can be an experimental update for DayZ tomorrow ;-) *hope*

Will we get the Status Report today or tomorrow?

Well, I'm finished with this game until they fix some of the issues... especially the desync. I was on a server by myself and I fell through a roof and died. I had four awesome guns and everything else one could want. This is ridiculous.

Rest in peace, buddy.

So ridiculous. A game that's still in development that has bugs. How can they get away with this!?

I agree with the point behind your sarcasm.  @ShoobieStomper:  I find that the most fun I have in this game is when I stop caring about my gear.  I know its not how you want to play the game so I'm sure its little consolation.

Looking through May and beyond...

Those who don't have their hopes up will be rewarded

We find a lot of comments lately pertaining directly to immersion, while developers are focused on core design systems implementation.

Major exploits, including duplication of items and glitches in the environment have gained attention and will hopefully have seen patchwork leading up to .56, but police stations and dupers should be avoided thanks to unethical players. I see .56 as a real move towards a more persistent world, in which player lore and legend will drive pleasant experiences, deadly or otherwise, regardless of those who intend to game the system and achieve unfair advantage

Inventory re-factorization is either close to implementation or in place, which means we might see a revolution in item generation giving power to those willing to wait and search rather than those camping NW airfield hopping from server to server, I am looking forward to this more than anything. If the time of "loot splosions" is finally finished I will feel most comfortable returning to the game, as the experience will feel more fair in its unlikelihood than ever, given the items will be both sensibly delivered AND diverse in distribution.

Vehicle updates are likely including less tipping but more grit involved in heavy vehicle navigation. The v3s made little sense at first, but now I see the team is eager to deliver a http://www.spintires.com/ level experience before making simpler simulations for the light vehicles. Hatchback unlikely for may but looking forward to june.

Persistence is probably going to stabilize, but I have a feeling a wipe is coming, thanks to inventory changes. If persistence DOES work after .56, a sigh of relief should sweep the community. Persistence is paramount to keeping player populations content, and servers full. Farm plots may see persistence through wipes, and who knows, maybe plant matter can finally be turned into mulch and fertilizer over-time, through the long awaited item decay system.

I suspect animations and player interactions have delayed this release, as the rendered was already revealed to not be the next step, which means a brand new damage system is in the works. I don't know if they made it to the internal deadline; it's unprecedented, as even Arma3 doesn't take as many variables into account for player conditions as this team passionately strives for.

Weather or not we see it in .56, the work on animations is being done; over the summer we will see less ladder and rock deaths, more visceral combat, and perhaps less desync thanks to focus on a more fluid animation system.

If spawning is in place, persistence will likely work, and we will see the servers explode with interest. The limits of Chernarus will match the demands just enough, and behavior in-game will adapt in remarkable ways. If loot spawning is fixed, it would be all the community requires for the experience of Dayz to change drastically, the mod will finally be surpassed!

P.S. helicopter hunter, our icons are so strangely similar, amazing

I had been alive on my character for 8 weeks and as soon as we made "Welcome to the Jungle // 24/7 Daytime!!!!" go live on our new Multiplay Server, I died within 40 seconds of joining to the DayZ gods.....AKA I somehow broke my legs and then suddenly died in a Fire Station. A few on our TS were thinking I was going to flip my lid or go nuts since I had been alive for so long and had some really nice gear, but I simply responded with:

I never ever EVER! ........get.....attached.....to my gear :)

Day -Z take-eth period. If you have that optimistic outlook like your talking the builds are that much more enjoyable. I recently lost a character as well fully geared to the max protector cases and all.

Me too. I had a fully kitted MP5K and 7 protector cases with a Medkit on a character that had been alive for 3 weeks. My buddy and I run a supportive Medkit combo where we can revive each other and give blood to one another. Anyway, I hopped in a truck and died instantly.

Then, today I was using the new character that replaced that one and I drove the truck in a ditch. The ditch + the truck + the physics engine had a massive disagreement going and the truck started doing flips and shit and I died.

EDIT: I forgot to touch on the worst part of my second death. 4 weeks ago I found my first 75rnd drum mag. Yesterday, I finally found the last piece I needed for my first ever fully kitted AKM: the AK Rail Handguard. I joked as I finished that I was sure to lose it any time now.

Did you see my edit? I know I'm not supposed to get attached to my gear, but I really liked using that thing.

Yep, still in development... has been for more than two years... still has a lot of the initial bugs... crazy, huh? I do wonder how they will finish the game because it does seem like they'll run out of funding before they do. I say this because it seems like everyone who wanted the game has already purchased it.

How could you possibly know that?
