I found a particularly relevant loot spawn this evening

Lol, I almost took the same picture. Same building even (or are those the only ones that have soda machines?).

I have a feeling that this game will die out before it's even finished...

Don't be so mad man , KOS is a thing , just get used to it ! I have a feeling you're new to the game , as KOS is a HUGE problem for people who just started playing . Basically just avoid everyone , if you wanna talk to someone never talk to groups more than 2 and always keep moving while you're talking to them... If you're not new, then what the fuck lol you should know about KOS bandits ... Good luck and be careful .

Are you sure it's pain-related shaking, not temperature-related shivering?

Sometimes there's a well-known bug that causes you to get stuck at 35°C body temp without the Cold status or any messages, especially if you've been Soaked & Cold for a while before. Check your temperature if you have a thermometer — if it is indeed 35°C, make sure you're dry, do some tribal dancing around a campfire or use a heat pack.

EDIT: Can't wait 'til they put that Bardak Vodka in the game (after all, there is a factory), it really does help survive those cold harsh winters in the absence of heat, at least in my RL experience.

alcohol heats up the bodies core temp. its one reason alot of the titanic survivors survived so long in those frigid waters.

- not sure why it quoted this post... ment to quote the alcohol post.

Yeah, I guess I set myself up for that one given my avatar. I actually don't play Minecraft that much at all. I can't even remember the last time that I played it. Anyway, your comment made me laugh. I think I overreacted a bit. It was just very frustrating and I do wish that there were some repercussions to being a bandit.

^ Yeah, I am pretty new... I'll give you that. I've been playing for less than a month. Honestly, I probably need to be more cautious. I'm an outgoing person and I typically open up to anyone so I guess that makes for a bad DayZ player. Haha :-)

This, being inebriated can put off the effects of shock kind of explaining the anecdotal Titanic "fact".

Nah , that makes for someone who can rebuild society Mang lol ... Fact is we need friendlies to win this z- war , we just need to know tactics to be Extra careful , especially when trusting others and moving in high traffic areas unnoticed .

True that, bro! Oh, and I should also be extra careful when it comes to my surroundings. I had a nicely geared player with a Mosin, shotgun, and a Magnum... and then I fell off that darn ship. :-/ It's a great spot for loot, though!

yeah.. it dilates the blood vessels near the surface of your skin increasing blood flow.. it warms the skin slightly while drawing a lot of heat from the core of your body

Are you planning on fighting a one-man war against the government or are you a survivor? That's a crazy amount of weight to be lugging around with very redundant survival value. :p

The other day I left some gear for a buddy along with a map in a water proof bag.  On the map I had marked some locations I had checked that either had a truck or a truck was present but I took it.  I also had marked all the heli crashes I had found.  When he found the map the notes were gone most of the markings showed as partials rather than complete circle with cross.  Too bad, this could have been a great way to communicate.

I do hope they flesh that out more, I agree that it would be awesome to leave full notes like that.

When you told me you had left a map, I was thinking, "Ooh, it's like a treasure hunt!" I was disappointed :( Still neat, though!

Alright, y'all got me there. ;) I know how to admit a mistake when I'm proven wrong.

What I might have wanted to say is, in my personal experience, moderate to serious inebriation can help you not care about the cold and feel energized and euphoric just long enough to get to a heat source, if you are wearing enough clothes to maintain a safe core temp (aka, not naked and delirious in the snow in –25°C weather).

I have never experienced Stage 3 or 4 hypothermia, although I know what Stage 1 and 2 feel like, and my toes are now insensitive to heat and cold from having suffered 2nd and 3rd degree frostbite as a child (playing snowballs for 2 hours in soaked, freezing valenki).  :(

EDIT: …and that's why implementing baseline temp as a variable separate from current temp (I touched on that a dozen pages ago in this same thread) may be so important to more accurately model certain extreme and unusual conditions — one can feel warm while actually freezing to death. Imagine all the novice outcries, "My character says 'I feel warm' while I'm losing blood and health, this is a BUG!!!"   ;)

I'm looking forward to 30rnd Sporter + Derringer load outs for a spry and nimble character. Stuff like that.

I'm very interested to test weight values. I am.

Edit to add:

So I've seen infected trapped outside bash each other randomly but I've never seen an infected kill another infected.

Trapped in a house with my new friend, we watched as 2 infected stood toe to toe and as I walked back and forth towards them they appeared to "box" each other.

I bet on the underdog, the infected with the light colored hair and my friend bet on the dark haired infected.

After a couple good rounds of fierce clawing and bashing the light haired infected succumbed to the beating and fell dead.

I still owe my friend a can of beans.

It seems like the loot tables were changed this past wednesday to be more like they were before 0.55. I liked it more how it was before, even though there were some silly things like pile-ups in the outhouses (and I don't mean that kind of pileup).

I actually want the game to be harder, the zeds harder and survival harder. I also want it to be harder for people to kill you. This week I've been one-shot killed four times, three of those times I didn't even hear a gun shot, just black screen and I'm dead. All of those times I was wearing a helmet, I guess that didn't help at all. Its incredibly frustrating to finally get some gear only to suddenly just die, without any clue why. I know, I know, this is dayz and I should be more careful, and I am not complaining just making some constructive feedback.

The not hearing the shot is a limitation of the games sound systems but not entirely inaccurate the way it appears in your case. Most rifle bullets are supersonic and arrive before you hear the report from the gun, if the bullet strikes your head you're dead before the sound of the gun gets there. If they miss you hear a snap from the sonic boom as the bullet passes then the gunshot itself. Combat helmets only stop ricochets and shrapnel but are easily pierced by a direct hit from a rifle bullet.

Excuse my rage the other week. I am usually not like this, and I mean this game to be a success. I see the devs making a push, always taking note of what is wrong and adressing it on the proper channels. I'm simply pissed when my game doesn't work. The thing is you open up one box and another comes out. I saw so much good in 0.55 and the last fix broke a lot of it again. I didn't expect this much to change. And I often don't know: is it just the server, or is it intended for persistence not to work? It's often not clear to me what isn't working exactly. Things like that, which cost time to figure out and then you are still not sure, at which end lies the problem.

I also have no right to comment on how long it will take to make this game. I just know sandbox games are inherently difficult projects to make. And it seems odd to me that every new update has some unforseen side effects, like bows not working or disappearing loot. I'd think these would be adressed, if the issues were known beforehand. It's a lot of guesswork on the client side to figure out the full scope of what each update does. If possible, I'd like to know more about what to expect, before booting up the game.

It's really simple, in a way, to have more faith in the game. For me, it'd require core systems - like persistence - to be more stable across multiple iterations of the game. If the spawns are fixed and persistence is brought back, this would be a version I would like to play for a while.

I agree, but if Dayz were to be trying to be realistic, then there are a number of things that would need to change. For example, I shouldn't be able to hear people talking after I'm dead, mocking me. I shouldn't be able to fix a fractured leg by applying a splint, etc. DayZ isn't trying to be exactly the same as reality, and where it doesn't do so it is because reality would ruin the game.

Hahaha you are so cute. Guess what: There are different jobs in a game studio. And none of the persons who do them are wizards. Please quit the game and go back to school. We all would profit from it.
