I found matches x2 and gas cooker. I expect to find the rest too. Didn't find a fishing hook, so couldn't try the fishing.

It is my experience that:

 

Cardio for 30 minutes = "damp".

 

Cardio for an hour+ = "wet".

 

You can keep warm in light layers and a wind breaker/raincoat when it's quite cold out (anything over freezing really) if you never stop moving but eventually you will be wet. You can also burn an extra 500 kcal an hour just regulating body temp.

 

Stopping in those temps, without shelter and heat, you will then become cold as the wet layers chill you.

 

Whenever I deal with this when I'm doing long bike rides in colder temps, the struggle is quite real.

 

This maybe something to consider for DayZ and in conjunction with stamina would also discourage running everywhere when it's cold for fear of possible hypothermia when you stop.

 

"Oh shit, I'm damp, better walk for awhile so I don't catch a chill." "10mins - You're starting to sweat. 20mins - You are sweating profusely. 30mins - You are damp with sweat."

 

I have made this suggestion maybe once before and honestly if it weren't adopted I wouldn't feel much was lacking....

 

Now where's all the underarmor and wool sweaters hiding? I'm freaking cold!

I didn't know that was a bug, just figured my knife was horrible. You can still eat the guts. :D

 

One thing that I'm really looking forward to getting fixed is it being so damn sunny all the time.

 Interesting that you should mention this, I thought about doing a thread about it. I haven't had any rain since the patch. Some clouds though but good weather mostly.

Whats the curent status of gas cooker? Is it cooking food? Is it insta burning food? or not doing anything at all?

Ok, found matches and three flares ... fires should not be a problem. In the towns we looted we got almost no food. My tent on Oldschool II survived maintainance :) Thought it would not even be set to persistance, but not compaining.

 

Mosin shots are borked: I crouched, shot, the gun immediatelly points directly into the sky, so I see nothing about my shot, then my char decided to go directly prone ... . The dude got away lol.

 

You guys know the food house in the farm area east of the police station in Zelenogorsk? It has a well like 5 meters next to it...

PRO TIP: If you find a tent and want to keep it, do not pitch it between the food house and the well. The dudes that did that even grew a lot of pumpkins there and left them lieing there. We took the tent, ate as much pumpkin as we could. Found a dude in the police station, heard him, waited, he sprinted down the stairs from the roof, I shot and missed (mosin, 2 meters, 12fps, what a supprise), he went into a room and went all friendly, so I did not shoot more at him and we talked. I WILL KILL THE NEXT ONE THOUGH, pinky swear! Turned out it was his group's tent, he was not really happy when I told him we took it.

 

Concerning pumpkins, IF dayzdb.com is right and a pumpkin has a volume of 2000, and iirc puking starts 500ml above the indicator change between stuffed and really stuffed, then eating a pumpkin should be reduce from 33% to 25%. 33% can result in going from somewhat stuffed directly to puking. 25% would not.

Agreed. Yet, doing it properly would require separating baseline body temperature from current body temperature, and making sweating (and increased water loss + damp clothes) occur when current temperature is above baseline and the body is trying to cool itself down, just like shivering (and increased energy loss + goosebumps, etc) would occur when current temperature is below baseline temperature and the body is trying to warm itself up.

 

This way, some things like sicknesses and circadian rhythms would affect baseline temp, and external factors, like clothing, weather, physical activity and consuming hot / cold foods, would affect current temp.

 

In the name of realism and science.

Problem is I didn't yet find a cooking pot, so I couldn't try it out. But in 0.54 the gas cooker worked well already. Just put water in the pot before you put in your meat and it will cook just fine. Mmmhmm.

 

I'm getting cold quite fast now. I think that is why the rain is currently disabled.

Just saw that plastic bottle suppressors now silence even one mosin shot...maybe more, depending on the state I guess...

Btw, did anyone notice you can patch damaged stuff to pristine now!? Makes sense, since the zombies are constantly bashing my clothes into worn or damaged state. Thx!

 

+ I have a question: How can you tell when a bloodbag has gone bad? It says 24 hours without cooling, but I don't know how it counts the hours. Will it say "damaged" or something like that?

Honestly, that doesn't feel like too big of a change. Instead of a fixed baseline temp of 36.6°C we have now, we'd have a varying one that changes only under very limited (and extreme) circumstances. The rest is the same.

Actually, what you suggested doesn't require this — just that, at certain temperatures (Hot, Overheating, Hyperthermia), the character starts to perspire at a certain rate (already happening, hence the increased water loss at these statuses) and clothes you wear start wicking that moisture (depending on layering and clothing material: cotton, synthetic, leather, tarp, etc — which is NOT happening yet).

 

However, I feel that putting in a variable baseline temp would allow for a better foundation to build more elaborate and complex body conditions upon.

Certainly did, although, as a non-native speaker, I don't really see the big difference. :D

 

P.S. I'm sure that, if I saw some UMLs (structure / behaviour / class / object) of the current implementation, I would have more specific thoughts on how some new mechanics I had in mind can be bolted on. One can only dream.  :blush:

It used to be working. I say used to because I haven't seen one in 0.55, I haven't even seen gas canisters. Or portable lamps...

I found a pristine gas cooker in a toolshed today, so they are back. Didn't yet find the gas or a cooking pot.

 

- The bow isn't working! 

- Fish still give you only guts after filletting

- still no fresh fruit or vegetables in any houses I checked.

 

I don't really see what happened in the update. The stuff that was broken before still is. The loot distribution may be better and matches are back, but some things I expected to get fixed aren't.

I tried to prepare sardines, doesn't seem to be working and got immediate food poisoning when I ate them raw. Yay charcoal tabs.

 

I actually since posting my last post found a gas stove, haven't found any gas yet though or any cooking implements.

 

Also someone asked or suggested somewhere that you could cook on a fireplace oven built of rocks without cooking implements. This is not true, I just confirmed.

It's just an observation at the current time. I wonder why they aren't there and if this is supposed to be. 

 

I find it incredibly hard to find pistols and pistol silencers at the moment. I do find lots of magazines for the 1911 and a few for CR75. But the only pistols I found were two FNX at a chopper crash. 

 

@ Harry Potter: all the mags I find are full. It might be, people already had enough magazines and just took the ammo with them.

Finally! I managed to complete the set. I'm sure I will die any time now as a result, but I will die happy. I've been lusting after this Plate Carrier set for the last two months.

Just wondering if its an issue specific to my rig or if anyone else is getting this visual bug with chain mesh compounds?? to me from a certain distance they look like a silver/blue wall until i get about 20 feet away then there mesh (this is just for the little compounds mesh not the standard mesh fencing you get around some yards and such...
