This really inspires me.   Seeing this gives me a lot of hope!

Little offtopic, but what i just read on /r/DayZ is probably the funniest thing i've ever read from a DayZ dev:

Eugen's reply:

Devs that troll hackers. My day's been saved :D

I know, right! I've never been attacked by players on experimental, as far as I remember.

That will change someday, I'm sure. I know I've had to kill at least 3 people in 0.50 so far that attacked me. I generally do my best to avoid all contact with other people when I'm playing Experimental because I'm usually just trying to find particular items or explore new areas of the map.

Can someone help me confirm a bug ?

Find a chemlight ( should be easy ), break it.

Take chemlight into inventory, then drop again.

-> dropped chemlight has no texture and doesnt illuminate the surrounding structures anymore.

I believe that's been a bug in all builds of 0.50 so far. At least for me it has been.

This video from WOBO explains how you lose items in your bag.

So, we can search for chicken feathers in chicken coops. How? If I search the ground around a coop the only option is to find kindling. Searching inside the coop and on the stairs does nothing.

Searching the wrong structure. :P

None yet.

I don't think I've seen any damage to any of my gear since the update but I've only taken light damage from zeds so far.

Thankfully, the invincible zed bug I experienced earlier did not result in a bleeding damaged character on respawn either.

The game seems to be performing rather well for me in general.

I had a couple of crashes in as many hours but nothing that seemed chronic/recurring.

I won't say to 100% certainty but I believe I witnessed loot and zeds respawning when I did 2 large loops around the airstrip and surrounding towns.

Great job!

I know a lot of people including myself are excited to see this build "go primetime".

Yes. I ran a pair of black and red jogging shoes for 3+ hours - from Stary to Mogilevka to Msta to other nearby towns - and they went from Pristine to Worn. Trying a pair of yellow work boots now.

As an aside, the leather kit can repair a drybag.

If you cut meat with a damaged or very damaged blade, you only get 10% - 30% cuts.

Instead, start skinning the animal with a damaged blade but switch to a pristine hacksaw to get ~90% cuts.

As of now the hacksaw does not degrade.

AK-74 and AKS-74U parts are interchangeable onto the AKM and AK-101, can confirm.

AKS.png

Can't wait to make the top one... and dreading the day I see the bottom one.

Also, shouldn't the AK-74 have a brown pistol grip, not a black one? Not really a bug or anything, it just bothers me (and it'd be a way to actually distinguish the AK-101 from an AK-74 refitted with black furniture)

Awesome, as much as I loved carrying a bag full of back up shoes and multiple rolls of duct tape just to get around I think regular wear after a few hours works.  Will save me some much needed room in my backpack!

The fishing rod looks great, but the bow still has the solid white look and odd placement on the character:

Can't find a rope for the life of me.

Plenty of success with my rabbit snare though; it's kept me alive so far! Downside is when you break it down you seem lose the wire, sort of like how you lose the rope when you break down the Improvised Backpack (in my experience anyway).

np

My hacksaw just now degraded to worn after cutting idk how many cans for food and bushes for sticks. It remains pristine for quite some time.

Where have you placed the snare? I haven't tried it since today's update. Thanks.

I found two ropes recently - one in a shed at Pustoshka (SW of Vybor), the other in a shed in Pulkovo (SE of Green Mountain). Good luck!

Initially I had two and placed both in the far northwest corner near the dry lakebed in the woods(where you can gather sticks). I explored around for about 10min and returned to find one had a rabbit. After I lost a wire when breaking one down, I caught another in the woods as I traveled east in the Kamensk area. EDIT: CTD 20 mins into the session.

I did not take it into inventory, but I did pick up a chemlight. I snapped it and, as expected, it lit my surroundings. A few seconds later I dropped it and the light extinguished immediately.

Can confirm that chemlights (and I flares, I believe) "turn off" when dropped on the ground.

So far with about ~12 hours into the refresh of the exp servers no lack of food. Quite a few houses I hit had an excess of loot ... one 'food house' had so much food I left half of it.. leaving orange stuffed with a handful of peaches and rice in my bag.

Good update. Good games last night. No client crash. No server crash.

Agreed, both server and client were quite stable for me. Additionally, several aspects of the game have been tuned and/or fixed. It was actually quite pleasant to play. It's a big step in the right direction from the earlier v0.50!

New door and gate sounds are awesome. Just been to the Balota airfield for the first time in ages and really like the changes. Also the diversity and individual touches going on around the map. The world is becoming more and more interesting - nice work devs.
