  1. There has been no change, apples have always been barely a net gain on energy and high water, tomatoes for example are actually worse...you'll likely die of hunger just trying to survive on Tomatoes. If you want tot survive on foraging mix it up with red berries, you can easily get bright green energized and hydrated from just berries and apples. Berries are only slightly more energy, but much less stomach meaning you can eat a ton before you have to stop because your too stuffed. The wiki provides all the numbers for most food items in the game. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Food_and_Drink

    Exp Update: 0.55.127059

I've been forced to horticulture / berry spam to get healthy - especially with the 100% damage chance when encountering a zombie without a ranged weapon. On that note Pumpkins are now 3x3 vice 2x2 and one of the few vegetables that will actually keep u alive via farming (haven't seen a potato in a week) Tomatoes are basically water, peppers will prob keep u alive, potatoes are great if u can find one...
  3. I think the cannibalism implementation will be fine as long as it has substantial negative consequences once it goes to stable... if its realistic getting Kuru should be fatal eventually and a low chance per consumption maybe 5-10% in cooked food and up to 25% in raw. Shakes would be good...make it nearly impossible to shoot a weapon straight....bandits aren't going to want to eat stuff that makes it hard to hunt for more. I'd be more concerned about people skinning and force feeding others... but like previous posts vicious stuff is already going on to people that get captured...so nothing new really happening... once your captured by another player you are already dead, if you make it out alive..even if mangled / sick / naked / ect, its a win... some would argue that at that point you would rather be dead so you could respawn... but the game is survival, when you die you lose.
  4. Ok so I'm disappointed, someone made a comment earlier about skinning humans, and I haven't heard a single thing about cannibalism in game. I've yet to find a knife so I haven't been able to optest

    I feel dirty

Well I suspect we'll be hearing some great stories about what people are eating on experimental....much worse then a bacteria laden pepper...probably a boost after all that anti-bacterial purell
  6. I haven't tested this, but I'd be interested in seeing if someone is able to survive on *only* Tomatoes. Based on the numbers in the wiki (18 kca energy, 105 ml water, 111 ml stomach), Tomatoes provide such little energy that you would quickly get stuffed, but still be hungry - similar to apples, when it was a rough world in exp .50 early on, I found apples are just barely a net gain energy food and they have 4x as much calories. Based on the numbers, the only vegetable worth eating if your hungry is a potato, all veggies and fruits are good sources of water. Food Data Source: http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Food_and_Drink
  7. So far with about ~12 hours into the refresh of the exp servers no lack of food. Quite a few houses I hit had an excess of loot ... one 'food house' had so much food I left half of it.. leaving orange stuffed with a handful of peaches and rice in my bag.
  8. Awesome, as much as I loved carrying a bag full of back up shoes and multiple rolls of duct tape just to get around I think regular wear after a few hours works. Will save me some much needed room in my backpack!
  9. This video from WOBO explains how you lose items in your bag.
  10. Has anyone actually noticed shoe decay? My boots are still pristine
  11. Seen the Drybag in red, orange and light blue, due to its structure you can't put wide items in it, but it takes up 5x5 in another bag - in case you want to nest bags. I tested the brass knuckles on a few zombies, I found it similar to most melee hand weapons - multi hits to body, maybe 10-15 for a kill, 1 shot for the head, only takes up one slot though. Tested the Leather Repair Kit, brought a Damaged Press Vest to Worn (Duct Tape will get most things to Damaged) the Leather Repair kit also takes two slots. A note about persistence, with the current system in place the best way to get loot to spawn is to remove bad loot and trash it away from spawns and/or store it in things (read this from another post somewhere)... I try to grab all loot I see and I'll leave it in pants/coats/backpacks I see that I dont need. Some locations you'll see items immediately spawn after you grab something.
  12. Has anyone done any substantial testing with the rabbit snare? I've seen only one rabbit, and shot it - I read they aren't yet persistent, I'm just curious if best tactic would be to place a bunch around where you think they may spawn, or drop one when you see one. Also anyone got ideas of what you can make with the rabbit pelt?
  13. Wish there was a warning when your shoes were close to going ruined, would be nice to save duct tape by repairing just in time, vice repairing early
  14. Gas Stations will blow up when a player first renders the gas stations, multiple explosions likely means a group just came into sight of the gas station.
  15. Wild Animals are pretty plentiful, OP must not have looked very hard. Living off the land should be viewed as a challenge... but even that is a mild challenge at best. I'd say hardest thing is the bow as the chickens are difficult to come by due to the limited spawn and the fact zombies tend to kill them quickly. Most the items mesh pretty well, like you need the machete to make arrows and to skin animals. I'd love if they made arrows stack better, and allow you to move and fire the weapon I found making a fire much easier then gas. All you really need is matches, considering any survivor worth his salt will have an axe and rags...stones aren't required. With gas you need the stove, an LP tank and a pot/skillet - and you get no warmth
