Safety.

Recommended Posts

I have accidentally shot a vehicle, nearly shot a friendly player and fired my weapon by accident tons of times.. So I suggest safety for weapons. You can bandage your friend and get in/fix/refuel cars with no problems.

I have probably been tired and exhausted when I have done all these, but still.

You don't need safety for your weapons in-game.

You sir, need a safety for your MOUSE if you randomly click every once in a while.

Don't point the muzzle at anything you don't intend to destroy and keep your finger off the trigger?

It would be helpful for our OCD community of DayZ like me :D I tend to click around alot when im in the wild and cities and accidently shoot.

I was thinking about making a latch over my mouse button (Like you know in airplanes where they have latches over emergency buttons, and you have to life it to press the button..) so I have to be absolutely positive when I was to fire my weapon xD

Nah not needed though because im pretty sure im the only one in the world with this problem.

Protip, Tap Ctrl twice to lower your gun, wont solve every time but will certainly reduce it. I have had minor problems like this, except it was with my mouse where it would randomly doubleclick whenever I click (came in handy on a couple of occasions like doubletapping a zombie, but was more of a PITA) Id start bandaging someone or blood transfusion and shot once, usually followed by an OH SHIT Sorry man sorry! Or a couple of times I've shot my car instead of opening the trunk to put gear inside, then my mousewheel started acting up, problems went away when I took it apart to clean.

But yes, a simple safety on/off would be handy for thous who want to have their weapon 'ready' but are prone to clicking on accident.

You guys apparently have never had the misfortune of ALT+Tabbing back into the game only to have your gun fire automatically. I had this happen once while holding a M249 with a new belt. Hit my friend once and managed in the mayhem to just look at the sky while i tried to stop shooting. It has been quite a long time since I've seen this "glitch" but man oh man times were dangerous in camp then !!!

I like in game safeties rather than real world ones. It's more to think about but gives that little bit more immersion IMHO.

Agh, I get that sometimes and it's extremely annoying. Can ruin everything.

I get it alot, maybe a safety would be good for people who have tabbed out...

Do what Russian says or un-bind your Fire key.

Read what Charb says. ;)

And because of that you lower your weapon before you alt-tab...simple solution. Why do you alt-tab anyway...?

You apparently have never had the great idea to PRESS ESC before alt-tabbing.

It's your own fault, really.

I know the 2x CTRL thing and this suggestion can be probably 'yarded, printed, soaked in gasoline and burned, because if this keeps on going on, it's gonna be 3 pages of "KEEP YOUR FINGER OF THE MOUSE"

And to everyone saying "Don't point your gun at anythi- Well, guess what? I need to point at the player to bandage him.. And I also need to point at the vehicle to get in. I also have to point at the one fucking pixel to open every door and pick up items.

E: OH and I forgot, using the safety would be completely optional. You might just aim a weapon with no safety on at your friends if you like, not for me to decide.

No real need for a saftey feature but we're overdue for the ability to holster your active weapon, it could have saved the lives of countless players by now.

I think having a safety would be cool just for the sake of having a little extra realistic gun mechanics.

I don't think it's anything that's really important, but it'd be cool.

(Ctrl x2 never holstered my weapon for some reason. I never had to, but whatever.)

If you need to alt-tab press G first.

If you need to heal a friend, always lower your rifle.

If you're not about to fire, rest your index finger on the mouse wheel.

If safeties could be implemented easily without fuss , for those that want to use them , why not ?

I can already see people being blown to bits , or having their face eaten off as their gun "misfires" .

"SHOOT YOU BASTARD ........ AAAAAAARRRRGH !!!!!!"

Oh , the safety was on , derp , may bad !

With all honestly that's a waste of control space/time. You probably need a less sensitive mouse I have had no issues like that with my weapon at all. Have you tried keeping your gun down for the majority of time? Press Right CTRL + R. That's what I do when I'm not around zombies/being shot at by bandits :P

what the creator of this thread really needs is this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iOUnO-EssI

yes it is merely a" nice to notice" ingame kind of suggestion which would add some more to immersion, but as said before i doubt it would be taken into account, simply because of the sheer huge amount of other, maybe more interesting suggestions
