I whole heartily support the ideas on Food and Drink names to show support to the forum mods, keep in mind people these are the few the proud and the crazy that devote so much time to keeping things running smoothly on the forums! Edit: Its not like the current names will be used in the standalone anyways so i don't understand the big fuss!

Launch DayZ Commander after Re-installing ARMA 2, ARMA 2 Operation Arrow Head, Then make sure all the Clients are up to date by clicking the install/update button in the top right of DayZ Commander, if it still doesn't work well idk maybe verify cache integrity. The whole idea behind where and how you spawn at the moment is that you washed up on shore and found the world like it is, not "oh the zombie Apocalypse is happening let me just grab my stuff, ok i'm ready let it start now.".

I agree its a bit annoying when i join a server and there is nothing to work for, at that point there is no reason to even play this is why i stick to the official DayZ Vanilla servers!

If you read your OP (before you edit it) you said you hoped they tweaked the hell out of zombies, the statement about them being slower was before the word hope was even thrown into the sentence, grammar for the win! rocket already said he is not going to be slowing down the zombies period they are supposed to be scary, as for them "Ice Skating" you have one hell of a imagination, He said that they are redoing the animations for the zombies as well as their path finding A.I. :)
