  1. WELCOME TO THE =UN= COMMUNITY SERVER! * We are re-Launching as soon as .63 hits experimental! DayZ the way the game was meant to be played: First Person (Hardcore mode) Much better players than public servers. RP Encouraged. No PVP Rules. No Whitelist. The =UN= Community Server has the largest Trade Center in all of DayZ (Fort Eden Trade Center). All players (Hero, Bandit, RPer, etc are welcome to trade here!) On the =UN= Community server we don't just say "RP Encouraged" we actually operate and maintain a massive facility for RPers to safely (as safe as life can be in DayZ anyway) where RPers can meet, trade, and play the game the way they want to play. When .63 launches on experimental we will relaunch the server and Trade Center. We will no longer use tents for blocking entrances but instead will be patching up the Castle Walls at Lopatino Castle and building real locked gates using the games new base building features. Previously on the .62 patch Fort Eden Trade Center was never breached and killed over 400 outlaws trying to attack the base. The =UN= Clan's #1 priority is to provide security and leadership for this amazing project. Our philosophy on this can be found here: We have only one connection to the hive so there is no ghosting during pvp and no server hoppers that ruin the games loot economy by over-saturating the map with too many weapons, ammo, etc. Great group of people for both social play and PvP. Very solid community with Survivalists, Heroes, Bandits, Cannibals, Kosers, Merchants, Traders, Farmers, Hunters, Leather Makers, etc. We have Clans, groups, and solo players. We will host PVP events, as well as in game challenges that will offer scenarios for Clans or individuals to accomplish a task, such as escort the Prisoner across the map, hold down a tower building for a length of time, Hostage situations, Prison Island Jailbreaks, Treasure Hunts (PVP style), protect the Scientist escort missions, etc. Martial Law can be declared at anytime by any clan or group in any location on the map (see Events threads for more details). Something for everyone that loves PVP based DayZ. Our Discord can hold 1,000 players (it's free), and groups wanting to make the =UN= Community Server their home will be offered a Discord channel (with permissions control) and text forum on our server. We are not looking for donations, but Clans that are interested may eventually be invited to have an admin on our server and also share in the cost. Currently our server is packed every night and all weekend long. Lastly, the =UN= clan is recruiting, and will offer active leadership in game with opportunities to police the map, defend the Trade Center, loot and raid bases, escort bambies to the Trade Center, provide Recon, and offer sniper support). Our new =UN= clan is large and will have 8 companies of 3-5 players roaming the map and a large group working / defending Fort Eden. https://www.reddit.com/r/DayZUNServers/comments/6yayjo/the_apocalypse_of_the_un/ The Fort Eden Trade Center: Where RP meets PVP...
  2. I don't think so, you can obviously spawn in your base by reloging while in it. Spawning in the coast and going through it is a great part of DayZ IMO, DayZ without beginning at the coast is not a DayZ IMO You always have to start fresh and vulnerable at the very start, and try to improve your character while you are surviving. Also that would be abused to such insanely great degree, imagine dummy bases all around best loot locations... I also think that ghosting between very different population servers should not be allowed. Like in a car you shouldn't be able to shift down from top gear to lowest, you shouldn't have a possibility to ghost from your personal loot collection server which you keep empty from other players straight to pvp in some other server which is full, I'd suggest that you should be able to move same character between servers that are relatively similar in player population at the time..... Thats so incredibly wrong, having to consume a lot of time is not even a challenge it is grinding. Well but if you'd have to survive for three hours and feel like a champion because of that, then I'd say the game is difficult and enjoyable. Of course devs could make insane zombies or something, but everything has to work together: zombies, predators, other players, weather, physical and health status, loot and so on - to make one continuously flowing game experience which keeps you in action, and wandering around and looting should be less than third of it (of course for basic loot, higher end gear obviously should be progressively harder to get). You say that DayZ is difficult because it simply kills your time in order to achieve super simple goal, like meet your noob friend, and get him a bullet to chamber into sporter, thats exactly why relatively every single person who owns DayZ wasn't using it for past ~2 years. I believe it will change. And you and many others plays "too easy" argument card on defending things that aren't difficult nor fun at all, just simply time consuming. Thats true, it could possibly bring some abuse, of which we couldn't think of by now. I'd say just make bicycles rather common, that would decrease average traveling times and that would solve the OP problem, not completely, but to great degree.

    Status Report - 27 February 2018

Thanks devs and all involved! Sooner than you think, couldn't be sooner enough for my liking, but I'm keeping a torch lit for my favorite brutal time suck. The audio teaser was nice and I really liked those before and after pics of lighting update. Infected improvements will certainly bring a tear to my eye and hopefully a challenge to my mind. P.S.: try to avoid saying things l like, "whoa so many questions to answer", and then ghosting the thread. That's poor customer relations.... Cheers!!

    RETURNING AFTER 2 YEARS

Ghosting into a different server is pretty lame, I agree...And dying a few times of hypothermia before I got a fire going and a few nom noms into me is not the end of the world IMHO...as it gives me a bit more of an emotional investment with the character that makes it past the initial day or two. Looting is not the only thing to do by a long shot right now. The builds are at a transition point due to the fact that they are finally rid of the legacy game engine. The last thing they want to do is release a buggy and broken Beta because they rushed content into an engine they don't/can't understand fully yet. Not trying to make excuses for the state of the game, though...just my perspective, that's all. Guess I am a "finding ways" savant...because I still find it cathartic to wander the map and mess around. Trying my hand at being a city-dwelling hermit now...and its pretty spooky in a high POP server!

    Noobs Hate Rain

I ran into this today, I don't know if this guy is trolling, but I hope he does. First of all, I wonder if by any chance the rain is taken out of the game again ? IMO it is truly sad that in a survival game servers gets empty as it starts raining. On one hand it is logical - it is more difficult to survive, on the other hand it is the point of this game - a struggle to survive. When it is possible just to simply switch server whenever it gets difficult to survive - it is broken. It shouldn't be so, you should face whatever happens, would it be night, heavy rain, very cold weather, being surrounded by wolves or bandits, or all combined. Now the game is so many years in the development, and such an essential thing was never talked or looked at. Now you can ghost servers whenever it is comfortable. What do you think about that, realism warriors ? I understand that ghosting is useful when the server performance is turning into sh**, and you just can have continuous gameplay in different servers, or you just don't have to memorize specific server, because in DayZ it is quite difficult to keep track on exact server, there is a way though, but anyway.... But the fact that server is most likely will get empty as it gets dark or starts raining is sad, it tells a lot about the playerbase - noobs, non-creative, and looking for most comfort they can get in the SURVIVAL game. And I agree with this guy at this point - it is annoying that servers gets empty. It is annoying that all servers are using fine clear bright weather almost all of the time. It is annoying that bastards are exploiting ghosting possibilities, or logging off as it gets tough. What could be designed ? I don't know, I am not a game designer. But could a player stay live in a server for a minute for example, or for a half minute at least, so we would be forced to log-off only when we are in safety. Could it be unified weather in all public servers, or maybe even in all servers in total ? So players would have to deal with the severe weather conditions at some times, rather than just being able to simply switch to paradise weather. Also public servers should be working like servers in PUBG IMO, there should be a minimum for population, lets say - 30. Because it is easy to get looted in empty server and then ghost in somewhere. Players exploit the game like this and like that - everyone is loosing because of that.

    Noobs Hate Rain

True, but it is a game to blame too. If game allows to easily go around challenge by ghosting or logging-off, then people will simply do it. It is human nature, humans will go through all the possible gaps to get in front. Even if it is dishonest and disrespectful towards everyone else. Those gaps has to be patched. Oh is it night ? Deal with it. Oh is it rain ? Deal with it. Oh you heard wolves ? Run, bish. Got outnumbered in a fight, or getting pwned ? Deal with it. Server has terrible lag, hackers or something like that ? Oh, perhaps you are right this moment. ******* I have a question. It would be nice to know if I can check ambient temperatures, and wind speeds somehow. Can I do it in DayZ ? I wouldn't be surprised if most servers are only using optimal temps for sprinting, and to dry-off after getting wet (for example swimming, because - rain is, obiously, not used). ****** Imagine servers in 0.63 could be set not to use stamina system. I guess it is pretty obvious what servers would be chosed by the mass. The bad thing is that when the mass makes the choice, then the rest has to deal with lonelyness, or has to get over the principles and move together with the mass, in other words - join the mass. Really dieing for 0.63, it is not even funny. PUBG is very fun, but it is not DayZ, you know.

    Noobs Hate Rain

@emuthreat Well you took it out of the context, because it was mostly about metagaming: not playing in the rain at all, not playing in the night at all, ghosting, gearing up in empty servers, logging off when trapped in the battle.... And does the trees really help to avoid getting wet and cold ? I thought it doesn't. Though it would be realsitic to have less rain, less wind and higher temps in the woods. The fact that you can simply do all this just takes so much out from the game. I'm surprised about arguments that it is ok not to play in the rain, or night. It is sad because it would be entertaining, also devs has been working hard to bring those features, it is sad to see them not being appreciated. What I meant was that some things like rain or night shouldn't be easily avoidable. I checked servers yesterday, all were sunny. In public server where I played it actually rained lightly, for two minutes lol (I guess to prevent players from overheating lol), full server, no loot at all at any place. But thats offtopic. I would expect the last, most loyal, DayZ players to use the game to the fullest, sadly it appears not be so. Thats why I say that the best, most creative players of DayZ are just not active. You just like filling your tents with the precious loot in comfy conditions, most of it you don't actually need. The game is not about survival now, it is all about collecting loot now.

    How To Win Playerbase Back

Some are playing in servers with less than 10 people. Some are ghosting, and thats shit. And some are just happy to be alone all the time, and thats shit too, but gotta respect that for them it is awesome. And thats probably more than half of AC players. I remember when I have been invited to join few fellows to play together. They had a low population server, basically collected all the loot to their base, and from there ghosting to all the hot servers - such smart wow. Sadly this is one of the reason why there are so many very low populated servers, and that is one of the big issues with DayZ. Only private servers where you can not ghost makes sense really. And there used to be nice loot in hostpitals, office buildings, police stations, fire stations were hot spots.... Everything is empty now lol

Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release

Ghosting into a base is a solvable problem. 1) Find a way to alter login co-ordinates, it should be limited to within a certain distance (albeit a fairly large distance) from the player's logout co-ordinates. 2) Randomize it at all times. You don't want players to learn a meta where if they've been teleported as they log in, it means there's a base/camp/stash nearby. 3) Design regions on the server where logins are restricted. If the randomization system generates co-ordinates within a region, it tries again until it succeeds. 4) Assign those regions to a tent/bed/camp/whatever. 5) Also assign those regions to players themselves. If the player logs out inside their own defined region, the login co-ordinates are not randomized. - You don't want to be teleported out of your own base every time you login. 6) Make the restricted regions pretty large. For example: 50m radius.

Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release

Much wisdom too much Of course there will be ways how to get into your precious base, of course there will be ways to open a crate with your precious loot. I'm just saying that it should be possible to make difficult to acomplish. You know ? Dude ? ...eh... ? I just suggested how to reduce chances of being raided, while at the same time making raiding more interesting, and you are talking to me about climbing walls by using chopped down trees and tents not being lockable. Do you realise how far you are from my idea ? I was talking about apples, and you have started talking about oranges. Good luck protecting your super important base for half of your productive day time for weeks, in a nearly empty server. By the way I think that as Bases will be getting introduced, it will be sensible to play only in private servers. As ghosting will just simply kill public servers. If basebuilding will be important to players in the first place. One of the worse things which could happen would be tons of low populated servers, which is kinda an issue already IMO.

Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release

I remember some super-old dev interviews where they kind of address this, I'm pretty sure they'll make ghosting impossible somehow, I don't expect bases to be hard to breach though
  12. This is called "ghosting", some people abuse this mechanic on public servers by going to an empty server and logging out in a high traffic area and then logging into a more full server. This is an issue that I don't see a clear way around, unless the game had an algorithm that placed players just spawning in 50 meters or so away from any nearby players. This might be challenging to implement though, as it might accidentally put them somewhere dangerous. Actually, I just had an idea. Give every building a "safe spawn zone". When a player logs in, they will spawn in the nearest "safe spawn zone" that is not within a specified proximity of another player. But even this could be an issue, if you log in and realize you should be in another house, you'll know that another player is within that house. Or, perhaps randomize the algorithm so that when you log into a town you will be randomly placed within a "safe spawn zone" within 200m so you never know which house you'll log into. The main issue I have with your idea is that it really puts the player logging in at a disadvantage, as people will see a flare pop up and then they can just camp that area. They could follow the person until their sickness resided and kill them quite easily, especially if they're playing in 3rd person where they could hide behind a building/wall and watch them in complete safety.

    Experience: The CCP Way

Several topics have cropped up about attributes, experience, skills and talents in game, and I'd like to start by being clear on this: I am 100% against the addition of trainable skills, talent trees and "XP" in this game. However, I'm not Dean Hall and nor am I Bohemia, and I suspect these are things that as tried and tested mechanisms in other games are possibly going to make an appearance no matter what we anti gamers think. If we then proceed on the premise that these things are inevitable, in what way could we introduce them and not break the "feel" of the game as it currently plays? For that we need only look over at the only real present example of an anti game on the market, and one I know was an influence for the development of DayZ: Eve Online. In Eve, it doesn't matter how many times you repeat an action. There's no way to "respec" to suit a specific encounter. In eve you implant a skill into your brain and learn it as time goes on. That's real-world clock time; A skill can take anything from a few minutes to a few months to learn, depending on what you're training towards. Being able to do one thing in eve can often take several months of this passive training to achieve, and you need to sit on your ass and be patient. The time it takes to learn these skills is dependant on your attributes - and that's ALL your attributes influence. Given the fragility of our avatars, I can see a modification of this mechanic actually working. Let me tell you a little story... You and your friends keep yourself alive for many months, sneaking into Chernogorsk Central Library every day to read about hydraulics systems so that you might figure out how to fix a broken helicopter that you've discovered in the wilderness. Little do you know that a group of bandits has been watching you and your allies do this from the shadows, and have been ghosting you as you make your way between the locations - they too, patiently waiting for you to finish learning how to do this over the weeks and months. Finally the day comes - months of learning has paid off and you know enough about Hydraulics to be able to fix up the knackered systems on that old Hind you found. It's your ticket out of the hell that is Chernarus. Just as you finish your first test of the old girl's main engine, one of your buddies outside refueling you drops to the floor with blood gushing from his chest and a dozen hostiles come running out of the treeline. They've caught you by surprise and take you hostage! Shit, I should have been paying more attention! After cuffing all of you, they turn to you and your buddy who has been patiently learning to fly the helicopter and demand that you work for them or else they will kill every single one of you. You refuse, and a single bullet ends your first friend's life. They ask again, and again you refuse. Bang, another friend down. The bandit leader looks at you, and you look away in defiance. Bang. Just you and the pilot left. Your buddy caves - Fine, he'll fly them, just spare your lives - and as you begin to protest... Bang. You wake up on the beach. You know nothing about helicopters. All you have is the clothes on your back and a flashlight... Thanks for reading, and I hope you appreciate why I felt I needed to start a new thread for this. I look forward to your comments and criticisms and again I'd like to say; I'm 100% against all of this, but if it's going to happen I'd like to see it happen something like this!

    Status Report 11 July 2017

I find this only an irritation, as I'm not interested in playing on the official servers. Ghosting, server hopping, no maintained ban lists, no active admins and no regular server community. Woo. I'd rather have the option to list either official, community, or all server types, all on the same tab.

    Little True Story

To be honnest its not my first expirience but one that let me change the way i see DayZ. It happend 3 Days ago. I got shot on the Airfield with my 3 Squadmates from Players that logged in on top of the Controltower and on top of the Firestation. They saw us before we saw them and they killed us instant. But hey thats not the bad thing :D we had a lot of fun in the Control tower and made a party with "Eye of the Tiger" and "Last Man standing" wonderful evryone should try it out to play music in the middle of the Airfield! Muahahaha After that i respawned in Electro and here comes this little true expirence that let me change my sight on DayZ in a bad way. I startet on the Electro Docks and found quickly rope and burlab to build my first backpack "COOL" got shoes and stone knife and wanted to return to the Airfield. After 2 Minutes of running throw Electro i found 2 other players, one equiped with a Axe and the other one with a Scorpion. I put up my hand to greet them and say "Hello Guys, I am friendly, how are you" I thought we could have fun but in fact the same thing happend that bothers me since 2014 now... The Axe Man came towards me and called "Friendly Friendly Friendly" And hittet me with the Axe straight on my head faster then i could drop down my hand and run away. 4-5 Minutes of gameplay with a new life and then it ends. To be honnest i am sick of Kill On Sight players, in fact i am sick of the most other players in this game... I got very very angry, respawned in Kamishovo, took a few apples and ran back to electro, on the way i found a Trumped with 22 rounds and scope, 1 Makarov and 2 magazines with ammo. i hunted this 2 rats until Cherno, and could snipe the scorpion player from the sniperhill between cherno and electro with the trumped (i am impressed realy, cause i never realy used a trumped) and followed the Axe man into Cherno City. Before i could get him out of his stinky little double red hole he logged out with the words "HA HA Fuc. you Bitc." ....................... I hope Bohemia will tell me someday after Post over Post in Steam i did that they will build good PvE Content i can play so i dont have to PvP evry time. PvE Content that makes this game interesting again, Content easy and hard that is worth playing with my clan. And when i want to do PvP then i go on a PvP server. Yeah that would be awesome, cause you know i bought the game in 2014 and i was told from the information that its a survival game, but in fact as it is today the only thing DayZ is a PvP Blood festival full of betraying people, some combatlogging people, some ghosting people if you play on public as i do, and Bamibs that see you with gear no matter how much they start punching you. If so you have to kill them, if not you get unconsicous and loose your little bit of gear... And i cannot even get mad about them cause a Bambi knows its him or you, a geared enemy knows its you or him, evryone knows its you or him if it is not a clan member. And this sucks, i dont want this anymore i want something else to do in this game... and i simply cannot cause their is no content, and the players that are there dont allow to play other ways. When i die in DayZ its this: 1/100 dieing from zombies :D 1/100 dieing from thirsty and not getting water fast enough :D but we have apples wohoo! 1/100 selfkilling/get killed from buggy cars 10/100 from betraying players that say they are friendly and kill you as soon as they see a chance to do it and loot you (yeah here and there i realy try to speak with them before i shoot) 86/100 KOS Kill on sight Thank you... If i would not love DayZ so much for what it can be/could be/the potential it has i would throw it back into your studio! :D Mfg Icy

I would like to see a PvE Content pack done from Bohemia nicely and interesting this would be worth to pay more. Then we could change our 2nd clan server to private and whitelist it and only allow PvE interested people to play the content with us. It could be interesting too if Bohemia gives us tools to implement Content ourselves to a private Server. Mfg Icy

    Realistic Log-Off System.

Love the premise and i think we really need to think something like and continue polishing that idea. Here are some thoughts to give you my feedback: 1) The character obviously should not appear asleep on the server or anything like it (like Rust). This will insta kill all players. There ir no safe place in Chernarus. I know you never considered it as a possibility, but someone mentioned it in the comments. 2) It is a great difficulty to "move" what happens to the server weather to a player who is disconnected. That is why the server saves a copy of the player when he log out. This would need a change of technology (which would be interesting) so we need to think how should this work as a whole. 3) I love the idea that the conditions in which you log out have to be considered by the players to give more realism. I think that taking it to the extreme would be very frustrating but there are certain things that could be applied to make things even more difficult and to avoid, with a new reformulation of the system of log out and log in, things like ghosting, server hopping or the "scape log". For example: The effects already existing in your character (hunger, thirst, food, cold, heat, illness) would increase progressively if you log off on the outside. (Or simply when log in again are half of what you had before). To avoid suffering this with the accidental disconnections, this would only apply with each server restart or every x amount of hours (long). This reasoning can be used to avoid server hopping by increasing your character's "weaknesses" (cold, heat, hunger, thirst, etc.) when you jump from server to server. Even more so if one does it on the outside (in a tree, as is usually done near military bases). Now, nothing would be avoided if you disconnected inside, for example, the NWAF prison. But there you run the risk that someone is waiting for you inside. However, there may be exceptional situations where, if you disconnect in a certain place or under certain conditions, when you log in again you appear dead. For example: log out with hypotermia or hyperthermia, log out into the water, log out sick, log out with wolves around your house and agro to you, log out bleeding, among other situations that can be thought of. In other words: I think the idea is very good and needs to be reformulated. Generate new states/status (hunger, thirst, hypotermia, etc) in relation to the place where you disconnect I do not see it very viable, but increasing the existing states (using some very long timer or just the servers restarts) if one does it in the outside world or if you jump from server to server in a shorter period of time (10-15-20 minutes), that could be a good idea. Really enjoy reading and thinking about your ideas dude. Keep them coming.

    Future of public hive servers

I dont like or need 3rd-peron- and public-servers. In a survival-simulator you should not have the possibility to have the view of a drone hovering over u. Also teleporting to another dimension of Chernarus with the same toon is not written in the script of how DayZ is ment to be played, i think. So why give us the possibility to do so? It's a freakin jungle of public-servers out there. Way too much in my opinion. Many of them are only for selfish purpose (mostly not enterable or offline). For me it will have no negative consiquences if BI quit private-conrolled-public server, but for many others like clans and such. But i believe these problems can be solved otherwise. Some more easyly conected private-servers or such, or linking 2 private server for a weekend should solve the most problems i think. Dont know if thats possible. I also dont think that that BI can administrate a nessecary amount of servers. I'm also sure there will be less public-servers on the list (what is great in my opinion). I think the public server will turn into a mess of KOS-Deathmatch with all kind of dupers and such which normaly hidden on their servers while doing their dirty business. In this way BI will be much more faced with all that dirt thats happening on public. I also see BI forced eating all the hate that is curently thrown at the "Badmins". Nevertheless the public will always be well needed for the Game itself. Most new players drop into the game on public servers. Many of them come from CoD, Arma and such and turn to realy friendly and inspired players if they understand the deep of the game. Others will not and keep on KOSing, ghosting and duping and such. But thats OK. DayZ is kind of game that can be played in so many ways. This fact was the reason for me to buy this game, and everyone has the same right to play his way. Thats what private-servers are for and if modding-features are added, public will also change dramaticly. Resüme: Its good i dont have to decide this. The game is in Alpha and the public server need adjustment. @BI dont be shy. Start fixing this. You will do some players a favor as u offend others no matter how u do. How is it ment to be played?

I call the public hive the public sewers. Shared shards needs to go, people renting public servers needs to go. The devs have to see all the abuse these owners commit and the players exploit by ghosting or loot farming which is the complete opposite of what the game is supposed to be about. you say we should value our toons well how the hell can we do that when people just go to servers that are empty and loot then go to full pops for shoots and giggles that's not valuing your toon or survival that's deathmatch. if you want dayz to be a game where the life of your toon means something where your time survived means something the public hive definetly needs changes. If not the real dayz game experience will always be on the private servers where it's fairplay due to no shard sharing and community driven thanks to great players and staff of the server. no dumbass loot farming asshat who jumps server to server looking for a short adrenaline rush because he's to lazy to do the work on the server where the damn people are. And if you allow this kind of crap on consoles like renting servers allowing abuse by admins and allowing loot farming then it will dead in the water as soon as it arrives.

    Future of public hive servers

For my opinion, Dayz doesnt need public-hives. Serverhopping, ghosting, hackers etc...just no. Or otherwise, just bring basebuiling into the game and the problem would also be solved ;) edit: Joined: July 4, 2012 srsly? 5 years?

    Future of public hive servers

Great topic. I personally dislike shared hives due to ghosting as others have mentioned but if we are to have one this change will make it a better introduction to the game than the current state of affairs. If there here is a public hive it should not have private management.

    Future of public hive servers

I think that's good idea. Only official servers should be on public hive and everything else on private. As far as I know most public hives are anyway not used as they should: - they are treated as gear farms (join and you will be kicked, they are passworded sometimes even thought it shouldn't be possible or owners just turn them off when they leave server) - they are treated as gear hiding spots (Few times when I joined some public non official server with low pop I found tons of tents and barrels filled to the max with gear in places like Cherno, Bere and I mean in the middle of them or near/on general military zones) - they are treated as safe way to travel to you destination. You have own server you gear on, they go on public one and die, so you just switch to your own, grab gear from barrels/tents places in coastal areas, travel to place where you died and log in back on server where you died. I would like to also see some more mechanics that would prevent ghosting. I'm sure you will figure something out.

    Future of public hive servers

In my opinion public hives should not exist. Every server should be a private hive. The idea of being able to leave one server, join another and still have all the same gear just rubs me the wrong way. It leads to all kinds cheap tactics and things that people do. I know public hive is never going away, so yes not allowing the renting of public servers is a good first step, but maybe also if you leave a server in any way besides crashing or a server reset should start a 10 minute timer to join a server. This would stop these cheap tactics of ghosting/ combat logging.

    Future of public hive servers

By not allowing us to rent public servers, I can think of only a couple of reasons that it would be helpful. It would cut down on server admins duping and using it as a personal loot farm. I dont know how much of a problem that really is, though. How many servers are rented by players, and out of all of those how many are using dupe glitches? Even if every single player/server admin used his or her own server for easy loot storage, thats what 1 person and their friends per potentially 60 people? Having gear doesnt always mean you know how to use it either. I have personally been fully kitted out only to be killed by a freshie with a 1911, so I dont really see an issue there. If someone wants to pay 50+ dollars a month to host a server, I dont mind if that 1 person has a ton of gear, legit or not. They arent invincible, and their bases can still be raided. The only other benefit of not allowing public hives to be rented out i can think of is it will end the "high loot" servers and the public servers that kick you when you join. I know its just a name and the loot is the same as every other server, but I wonder if that issue may be solved by just enforcing the terms of service. That would also help curb the kicking on a public server for no reason abuse. Going after the server hosting companies themselves is probably easier than tracking down individual customers who rent the servers. What other benefits would there be from not renting out public servers? Ultimately, I dont think we should have public hives at all. Every server should be its own independent hive in my opinion, even if its "public" or official. I always think of how base building will be affected by public hives. It will be way too easy to break into anyone's base, no matter how intricate or secure it is. Its too easy to jump onto another public server, run to the middle of where you know a base is, and server jump back. Public hives have the potential to ruin base building before that feature is even ready. Also, people use this server hop technique during firefights as well. I honestly can't think of any real benefit to having public hives connected together at all, really. All in all, I think it would be a step in the right direction to not allow public servers for rent, but it's a little like putting a band aid on a bullet hole. It helps a tiny bit, but still leaves the bigger and more common problems of server hopping and server ghosting

    Spawning items

I just put up a vanilla Dayz mod server. The first time someone connects after the server restarts, they get stuck on Spawning items. If they wait it out the server tries connecting them again, they get a message about ghosting and after a countdown for antighosting, they get in. Why does this happen?
