Masgel 48 Posted November 28, 2020 1 hour ago, Riddick_2K said: It is not so. 1) If it is external it is irrelevant, here we are talking about the humidity that affects the character, therefore internal and not external: which is impossible if it is truly waterproof. 2) When it rains even a little, it immediately becomes humid and the character begins to consume too much food even without doing anything and constantly complaining about the cold, so it is NOT irrelevant, but very annoying. All these things are absurdities and inconsistencies made deliberately (as admitted by the developer himself) that's what makes them even more annoying ... they seem to want to ruin this game on purpose, creating any kind of difficulty, even absurd, unreal and unlikely to create many types of difficulties. But what's the sense of this? And what also puzzles me is that few argue and there is even someone who defends this meaningless approach. Provided that ... this is an idea that is coming to me little by little, seeing how this game is treated and managed ... that they want to make it stupid, unreal and buggy (not fixing very important things) on purpose to push as many players as possible to go and play on private servers that is managed in a different way and with MODs to recover the shortcomings and absurdities of the vanilla game...thus they would save game repair work and resources to manage the vanilla servers. Other reasons for treating a game in this way I just don't know The character gets hungry more quickly if he's cold and/or sprinting. Wetness simply takes away your body temperature, which in turn makes you hungry faster if your body temperature gets below average. For example, if you stand next to a fireplace drenched, but your character's temperature is OK, then you'd still go hungry in a normal pace.
olyeller 5 Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) So tired of removing mod after mod... Ever since 1.09 release I have not been able to add a single mod! I've probably lost about 10 mods so far that I'd love to add back, but as of now, with every mod update, I have to remove something to avoid the server.core.xml hanging... Last 3 days in a row now I have woken up to a hung server and spent way too much time trying to figure out which mods i can keep. This is ridiculous and needs to be a priority after the performance issue Edited November 28, 2020 by olyeller
amadieus 315 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) Walked around and saw this guy bleeding. He ignored my comments about bandaging up and came in my personal space. I smacked him with a heavy attack and a few light attacks. Then we got into an exchange of fits fighting. Suprsingly he won this, even though we smacked each other at the same time. How is this possible? I was sure I was hitting him. Maybe I wasn't actually hitting him? In that case fix this shit and show some proper feedback when giving out punches. Melone (DayZ) 16 Posted November 29, 2020 After several months of gaming experience in DayZ SA, it is up to me to brand the developers as idiots. It's not the only idiotic bug. The developers are totally overwhelmed with the complexity and probably the developers take performance-enhancing substances to get along with the requirements. But that usually backfires. There's no other way to explain why such crap keeps coming out during development. When will androids be invented, whose mental abilities are far superior to humans and can take over the development of complex software completely. I've asked before, but is it really that difficult to implement a system whereby the toon can eat two or three meals in a game day? Maybe having to eat twice during the day and twice at night? I can't imagine that would be that hard to do. Killing a cow, cooking a steak and eating it should fill up the player's character for a few game hours. Derleth 1357 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) @ImpulZ I have noticed that if you are using a server side mod to change the starting clothes array, picking the customised character from the new respawn dialog (Custom or Random) the clothes from customisation will override the server array, even if those clothes are not even present in the array. So, on my winter server I'm running now, respawning players have to pick between random character (with a wee bit of survival chance) or their customised character who will freeze to death in 10 minutes unless they get really lucky.. Will having the mod client side too allow players to customise with the modded array? Edited November 29, 2020 by Derleth

Let’s get this straight, once and for all, when your Apple is in the yellow, you are literally starving. You are going through starvation. When it turns red, you begin dying from starvation. The Apple icon doesn’t measure how full you are relative to being satisfied after a meal. The Apple icon is your Energy Capacity. Even when it is “full” your character could theoretically be “hungry.” This is a fact, because when your stomach is full, you will see a separate icon with two rotating arrows. Then after a short time, once you “digest,” you can eat more without throwing up and you will see up arrows above the Apple icon because you are increasing your Energy Capacity. When you see your Apple icon is not full, but is still white, treat this as meaning that your character is extremely low on energy, you are extremely fatigued. It’s not at all like sitting down for lunch because you feel a bit hungry.

I've levied PLENTY of criticisms and frustrations about The Dev Team and DayZ over the years, but insults are not the way to go about doing it. It's childish and in bad faith. That kind of behavior isn't interested in seeing DayZ improve, it's only interested in tearing people down. The segment of people that hang around here and the subreddit only to endlessly bash the people that work on the game and the people that enjoy DayZ is truly, truly, exhausting. Any valid criticism or point you make goes out the window the second you start with insulting the people working on the game, full stop. It's not constructive or necessary, and it happens way too much on these forums and to a lesser extend the subreddit. And really, nothing that person said was correct anyway. The food system works fine. It's been addressed. There was a better way to voice that concern than how it was handled. I'm mainly just tired of seeing that stuff on these forums. I liked this approach to my work from the side of the game authors. I loved the development of Mods on the working platform of the game. Since 2012, players have been waiting for a stable game on a stable platform. Since 2012, we are always in the hope of releasing an update with fixes for problems, but without adding new problems. I play a game where I often spend time replaying the problem, recording a video of the problem, and creating a ticket for the problem in detail. Our help in funding the game and its payback. Also our help for the development of the game in reproducing problems and testing problems. The authors of Mods are trying to expand the content and possibilities in the gameplay. But our tickets have been on the tracker for a long time. Are we worthy to see the answer in the tickets in the form of the progress of work on the problem, not 2-3 years? Plus, you can't wolf down more than three full steaks at once without the stomach symbol turning up, keep eating then and you'll puke it all up. However the character currently processes food stupidly fast, you only need to pause a minute or so before you can eat another steak so the fullness mechanic doesn't really have enough impact as I see it. They should slow down this process by at least factor five*, that would make binging half a cow in short time impractical, and make it more important to actually bring some food along rather than eating everything you find when you find it. The lowering of max energy was a good change in this direction. *) Tore that number out of my rear end and it just dawned on me that it would probably make energy gain slower than it is actually drained when a character is cold and sick, so maybe not the best idea. The rate of processing food needs to slow down though to make the mechanic relevant, maybe by making it relative - so you process quicker when hungry and low on energy but slower when full and energised?
