Stable Branch - 0.57 Discussion

Last night I played on the highest populated server on my Favorites list. Only 12 people, but meh. It's something. Spawned fresh in Berezino and by the time I walked out of the town not but half an hour later, I had put a land mine in the police station and I looked like this:

 

GH1Dkgb.jpg?1  So, yea...loot can be pretty crazy. Those porch buildings with the military loot explosions are crazy. 

 

 

The biggest step forwards with the CLE in my eyes is that looting is no longer the "Check the three hotspots in the town, pray to your god, move to next town" cycle it used to be. I feel encouraged to check out all the buildings, stands, outhouses, sheds, and cars. Not just make a beeline for the Police Station or Fire Station and then leave. Loot spawning is still more fucked up than Sylvester Stallone's English, but at least it's a whole lot more interesting and better for gameplay now.

Where's the best place to find the winchester? I have found about everything else but that! I'm un lucky I guess

When I first start I hit every possible loot spot where ever I am and then move on to the next town until I have the winchester. I have found it in many places. I think the last time I found it, it was in that boring house that has the stone steps up the side into the door of the house. Lately the big starter quest begins with a backpack, so I can pick up all the loot I stumble over as I walk around.

It's just too easy on stable re loot. It's a real double edged sword, .57 is a solid release and people like it but the loot is a joke and there's no real reason to leave the coast. When they eventually take away the loot there will be hysteria.

 

I love pvp and I quite like the coast but the best part of the game is the struggle early on and there's no real struggle in .57 stable.

 

Cannot wait for the next experimental. I think I've honestly had more fun trying to survive in a broken game than in stable. And I'm not one of those people loves picking apples either. But exp had a bit of The Long Dark feel about it for me in various exp releases i.e. fucking hard to survive and when you do it feels like you've achieved something.

 

Anyway onwards and upwards.

Anyone noticed other players are no longer making footstep noises and you cant hear the heavy breathing if a player runs past you? I was chatting to a guy I bumped into last night outside Cherno who asked me about this then ran around my vicinity and made no noise?

 

I thought nothing of it untill today when I practically jogged over a gillie suited sniper in the bushes outside Zelenogorsk... he must of not heard me coming.......... I killed him and stole is cammo. Then about a minute later I nearly ran into another guy kneeling in some long grass (unfortunately he died also).

 

Im sure I would be dead if they had heard my footsteps??

 

Anyway... 0.57 is fun, Easy mode PvP B)

The PC Gaming Show brough on DayZ producer Brian HIcks to discuss the Early Access process and developing the game. In the discussion, Hicks revealed three big features that will soon be coming to the game. 

 

1. DayZ will support a single player mode, so that players won't require an online connection to play.

2. Steam Workshop mods will be supported.

3. Players will be able to set up private servers, so they can set up their own LAN parties or exclusive worlds.

Any one of these features would be a big deal, and DayZ is really reaching for the top by going for all three.

I think I've honestly had more fun trying to survive in a broken game than in stable. And I'm not one of those people loves picking apples either. But exp had a bit of The Long Dark feel about it for me in various exp releases i.e. fucking hard to survive and when you do it feels like you've achieved something.

Pretty amazing to have a ghillie suit. I have not seen a single net since..hmm..since..uh..since.

The guy had 8 pieces of netting!! I just kept enough to make hat and left the rest.. Must have taken him ages to collect it all. What let him down was that he was wearing a skull mask which caught my attention

naa, there are some boats with always two full stacks of netting. its like the guardhouses, know where they are and you find the stuff you want.

What I like concerning the new loot distribution system is, that you find specific loot in areas. For example medical loot in hospitals, hunting stuff at deerstands, mixed up stuff in normal little houses. What I dont like is that you sometimes can find the nearly te same stuff at the same places. Like the Humwee Wreck at pustoshka. I lost AK74 by climbing up a deerstand, just went back to humwee wreck and took a new one --- mmmh. The same with the western milbase near myshkino. There are a few armed vehicle wrecks. One of them always has a shotgun with pistol grip, sks and ammo and a few ak mags etc. another wreck from the same model never spawn loot. I hope those spots are currently not setted up and within the next months they will fix those problems. If its like that, and persistence is working correctly, than it´s a really strong build in my opinion.

 

I think its moving in the right direction, but there need to be many fixes in the next weeks.

i'm getting bored with DayZ right now, i had some good PVP but that's it... . i'm starting to hope next XP will have almost no loot like the good old broken loot exp after 1 week.

Some bugs and oddities I have experienced:

 

1) Got shot while driving a truck. Ran out of gas. Got out and my energized/hydration bars said full/green...no healing. Pants and contents ruined. After a minute or two I realized my screen was turning white. I log out and back in and I actually had a chipped leg and was bleeding...no indicator prior to logout.

 

2) Getting in/out of the trucks creates issues with losing guns and unable to change weapons and using hot key items...seems more predominant after hitting something with the truck like a sign or tree.

 

3) When chopping a tree down you lose the axe and get the long stick as a replacement.

 

4) When carrying a container like the pot/pan/medkit/protector/pouches/ and even some cloths like the Autumn Camo Jacket...if your inventory is full your opening food or picking up items stores them in those containers, makes it seem as they disappear.

 

5) Trucks and Heli Crashes are all being heavily camped and respawn in the same place every restart.

 

6) Sever hopping is rampet and many players are logging ONLY at restart times to loot specific locations with good spawn items like guns/ammo and then logout...untill they are totally geared.

 

7) Server admin/clans are abusing the power to restart servers to respawn and exploit trucks/crash sites/ and loot dumps.

 

8) Zombies run through doors again.

 

9) The collision sound gets stuck when you hit a zombie with a truck. Annoying.

 

10) The truck head lights get glitched on and will not turn back off ... especially if you even lightly hit something.

 

11) Energize/Hydration indicators get stuck and do not indicate when your full/stuffed/overstuffed...until you log out and back in only to puck it all up.

Dude he even wrote that he looted the guardhouses like everybody does atm. There are so many vests, pistols, boots, guns etc that it is difficult to pick up the one you want.

PS: I wanted so ask if any of you pvp oriented guys notices a really strange behaviour regarding the bugged status updates and damage you take and give with bullets. It's like you regularly need 5-6 shots from an AK74 or sometimes take headshots and just shake them off... imho there is some major thing bugged with damage calculation

yes, i noticed some stranges things with current damages. i was used to see fully geared people go down unconscious with one .308 shot in the upper body (from winchester or blaze 95) in 0.57 experimental. i shot a guy this morning, right in the middle of the back with my .308 rifle and he kept running... i then shot him once again with at least one .45 ACP round out of my FNX, still not down. he finally dropped dead after another .45 ACP bullet. 1 .308 and 2 .45 ACP, that's a lot of firepower to drop one man !

 

i had one firefight with the AK74 too, hit 3 times a zigzagging target but it was not enought, i had to rush him and empty my mag at point blank to finish the job  :( . i almost reconsider using the good old mosin since power is way more usefull than rate of fire with my playstyle and 7.62*54 seems to be on chest hit killer all the time.

I had a strange bug. I was fireing with a Makarov and then reloading mags with the mouse-wheel, 3 times, and all mags were gone (beside the one in the gun).

So it seems that the emty ones did not went back into the inventory.

Can anyone confirm this?

Maybe they're doing a new thing where they don't post change-logs and they actually want you to discover the new items instead of them flat-out telling you. Just a thought.

Seems to me like they spawn more near barracks than guardhouses. However, I found mine with its pouch at a blown-up tank. (Actual tank, not a BTR)

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but in the school building if you want to swap clothing items make sure to put whatever you want to keep into the new clothes before you swap. I lost a bunch of stuff in my cargo pants when I tried to change into some hunter pants and my cargo pants just disappeared. I searched all over for them, outside also and they were nowhere to be found. 

 

Not sure why I spent so much time looking for the lost stuff, when things are so plentiful this build.  :blush:

I'v had no trouble dropping people with one shot from the Winchester or CR.  But that AK74 is screwy.  I hit a guy twice in the head with it - once from about 60m, another from about 1m (double tap) and while I'm looting him, he friggin stands up!!!
