Hmm, I wonder. It seems there are supposed to be four colors of barrel (blue, green, red, yellow) but I'm pretty sure only blue and green have been spotted in the wild so far. I wonder if the other two are having issues loading, like what you encountered.

 

I regret not getting a screenshot of the error with the full path (dz\items\objects\...or whatever) but I had a zed hot on my trail and I derped and just closed it, it definitely had "yellowbarrel" in the string though.

So while the servers are down, my thoughts on 0.56 exp so far:

 

Central Economy: I love where this is going and this iteration is vastly superior to the 0.55 version we saw as there is both some random element and also areas that make sense to look for things. Tool sheds for duct tape or rope for example. Most food difficulties I faced were related to the fact that to enhance my own challenge I only eat what I forage/grow/catch which until I got a fishing rod was tricky with frequently resetting servers or action delays due to high pop. I really look forward to further refinements, special location spawning, etc. Also of course, it'll be nice when loot-splosions are no longer a thing.

 

Zeds: Apparently zed hording in response to gunshots is a thing but I haven't come across it yet as I've basically not been firing guns. As for melee, zeds are basically a joke right now as far as a single zed being a threat but also pretty fun to fight. I've managed to take them down with a hatchet using the stagger mechanics to get away without a scratch and without silly gamey circling that was part of melee combat before. All in all, this is a more fun solution and I approve.

 

Other things!

- Cooking on a stick over a fire is amazing. It's seriously rewarding as a lone survivor chilling out at night cooking a fish fillet over a fire and under the moon.

- Please, please, please if it's possible implement the plant material as fertilizer as 0.56 goes to stable. Every patch I keep hoping this will work, try it and then cry a little inside.

- New weapons, can't really comment as I've only found the new winchester and didn't use it. Really looking forward to seeing the IZH18 though.

- Looking forward to seeing how the hand-drill is implemented that is mentioned in one of those error windows we're getting. :D

- Sardines can't be cooked right now and this is terribly sad as even eating them raw gives very little nutrition for the amount of work put into getting them.

- Similarly, any plans to make earthworms cookable or at least increase the energy value gained from eating them? One data set I saw said earthworms give 80 energy but this seems untrue as I ate 10 of them to very little effect.

after playing for 10+ hours i am really confused by this thread because my experience is completely different.

 

The new "economy system spawning " means for me that i did not find a single weapon in 10 hours running from south to east and then to NWA ... the tents and buildings at NWA had (US north east servers and UK servers) almost no loot, the only things still there were a few firefighter helmets in the firestation and a few handcuffs in the prisons.

 

all other villages had only little loot consisting of mostly little lootplosions with some hoodies and trousers...

 

also only 1 can of bacon and 2 sodas and some melee weapons of which 2 disappeared after putting on my back.

 

besides these few things and a press vest, i am still very close to a bambi after 10 hours of apple eating, pond drinking and running

 

 

also : 

server performance seems to be a big problem. sometimes when i drink or eat i have to wait 30+secs for the "i drunk xy" message

 

Sounds like Dayz is getting there...the game is meant to be about raw survival, not about running around with a auto-rifle and pockets full of ammo.  

 

Regarding running around.. are you searching everywhere? or just military hotspots?

Are the servers down ? I've been hankering to play ever since I logged off last night ... My last character succumbed to hunger while attending a garden last night , I hope someone found my body face first in my patch of tomatoes lol :) .. Now I'm hydrated , energized , and have a broken leg in balota (ya some punk ass zombies broke me so now I have to crawl around like a bitch... ) if anyone is on first person experimental servers today and want to help me out I'll owe you a favor !

Hmm that's really rough , another cockblock by the dev team lol if they were our college mates we would never get pu**y ... They have to realize .55 is so borked not many people want to suffer with it , let alone play it for another few days waiting for a new experimental or push to stable .. But I know the devs love to trollolol people so hopefully they are planning on pushing out a new experimental today (or hopefully a .56 push to stable !) it's just Biran hicks ( =) ) is so vaguely cold with his twitter posts I never know If he's punishing us or not :( !

I'm only a couple of towns inland and I recognize that my location is the problem. Believe me, I've looked for food in every out-house and under every bush. I've even been opening my inventory at all known spawn locations, in the hope that I might find some invisible food. I'm desperately trying to get further inland, but I need some food to fuel the journey.

 

I didn't find a back pack until I approached my second inland town, so I was unable to stock up on apples. Not that I necessarily would have, as it took forever and a day to pick eighteen apples! I may be a wee bit frustrated at the moment, but I am not upset. I enjoy the struggle and having nothing to rely on, but my wits and my imagination.

 

I'm not in the habit of killing myself until I get a favorable spawn. I play the cards that I am dealt and I believe that this has sharpened my survival skills. Besides, repeatedly killing myself until I got an inland spawn would probably take longer than picking a backpack full of apples.

I maybe should of clarified more; i killed myself to test loot spawning in several areas not because i didn't find any or couldn't survive.

No problem. I still don't have dick for gear, but I did manage to make it almost all of the way to Novy Sobor, before the servers went down. I'm still on a 100% apple diet, too. I can not friggin' believe that I have made it all of the way to the center of the map and so far, I have found one NotaCola and no other food items, whatsoever. The loot gods just aren't with me. Actually, it's worse than that. The loot gods are mocking and taunting me and it's going to get personal, if things don't change real soon!

It's raining here, in the Republic of Texas, so I need some indoor activities to keep me entertained. I have a whole backpack full of apples, that I worked damn hard for and I intend to eat those bastards! The devs need to get their collective butts in gear and boot up some of those Exp servers!!!

I found the journey brutal, but an absolute blast in experimental. Glad the pigs where so slow. Cant wait for fatigue to be implemented. All the idiots sprinting completely clueless around me while I'm picking apples, they look mighty tasty when your staving. If they where a tad slower I might try cannibalism.

 

If the goal is to make finding items a 10, which it is. Then it's working, I've never been so happy to find a tactical bacon in Grishino.

Hmm looks like servers are down. Hopefully an update.

 

I found a quick reload magazine with AK rounds. 5 total like what the Mosin quick reload one looks like. Anyone know which rifle it goes to? Cant be the SKS its a 10 round quick reload.

I imagine it is for the Druganov Sniper Rifle
