Tatanko - in the unofficial patch notes you posted a link to it says that truck collision is turned off between infected and trucks but I definitely killed one with a truck earlier.

Also, unless I missed it in the notes or I'm quoting bad information, someone mentioned that our eye level has been corrected to the proper height as well.

Ok, I get back in from work. And I have 10 people in vent and only 2 of them in game. One has died several times. The other is in the prison island with nothing to loot. Just sitting there. While the other 8 of us are hoping ......wait one of the players have left to go play Arma or something else. So now there is 1 playing Dayz and 8 of us hoping this is the world's worst april's fool in history. You guys really do not see what is going to happen? How can you not see it. out of 10 people we have only 1 person playing and dieing over and over again. Everyone is bitching.

As to the moron talking about picking berries. WTF man. I spotted playing H1Z1 because of that. I called H1Z1 pick a berry. And I hated pick a berry. H1Z1 was Pick a berry pick a berry pick a berry over and over then making a bow and arrows and dieing to some dick whom bought a gun from an air drop.   And you want that here?

Zombies need to be upped a little, BUT the loot did not need to be screwed over this bad. And it's bad. Really bad. Bad enough most of us are not playing. How can you guys not see this. Really.

The zombies are not the end game bad guys. Players are.  Players are scarey. Look at the Walking Dead show. WHom is scarey? A Zombie? No. 100 Zombies? Hell yeah! But the scariest of all? That group of scavengers that have started killing other survivers. Cause players can hunt you with ranged weapons and stalk you. He thinks like you. He is the challenge. Now I can not find food. WHen I do I can not find something to open it or I can not find a weapon to defend myself.

Before the Zombies were a little weak. Just like in most Movies/TV shows. But you could find food and things you need. We had guys that loved to farm. Now they are not even logging in.

And to the guy above that said they have to improve it. Yeah. Improve. Not fook it up. Which is what the last 2 patches have been screw ups. I am an old school gamer. I started plaing Asheron's Call. I went to the PK server and never looked back. Did I die? Yes but I played it for 4 and a half years. I even went back and made another level 248 3 years back to see if it was still fun. This game was set on spawns for food and weapons. Now it's not. Use to I died it's ok I can find stuff to make it out and find weapons.

I am a gun nut. I love fire arms, and I loved the guns in the game now. So I learned how to get them. And now? I am screwed cause the spawns are broke. And you can not find shit you need. So we can not gear up and go raiding. Viking is part of DayZ. Raiding is exciting and scarey. Players might be slick and out move you or just plain ballsy enough to win that fire fight. It was fun.

The old things that sucked? Dieing. not because of the gear lose, but for the fact some dim wit made it where you spawn across the map. And then you waste the next 30 minutes to an hour tring to reach you friends. Which is dumb. But Atleast I could find the gear I needed and the weapons I needed to replace what I lost. and It made sence. FIre axes in fire houses. Now?

So here we sit. I have been home 2 hours and no one is willing to log in and play. OUT OF 10 People. The last guy has left now to go play something else. and here we sit descussing playing Eoch. Now they want me go to another game to play what I bought this game to play. aybe that is what we need thou. Like a boycot. Just everyone leaves till they get it and put the loot system back and start working on the things people want. I mean if I wanted to pick berries and make bows I would have kept playing H1Z1.  I like AKs and M4s and FNXs. Heck, why are there no Glocks and M and Ps. 300 black outs. There is a number of things I can think of adding just in weapons.

Vehicles. Add in a humvee and a Warsaw Pact version of a jeep. The British have those tracked transports and the little 6 or 7 man wheeled vehicles.

Bases. So we can build up. Create something. And of course have something to help us rally and make the story. The players make the story. Give us the openness to do so. Not just sitting around picking berries.

Is anyone finding any of the repair kits anywhere? They seem to have vanished or are now extremely rare and hard to find.

found a couple of the leather sewing kits but no regular sewing kits.  you would think they'd be more common than mp5s (found 4 of those and a dozen mags), but nope.

DeputyRick - you need to relax, stop throwing thinly veiled insults at everybody, and take a break from DayZ.

I took 6 months off from the SA when I wasn't enjoying it.

Reported.

Haha, no, I definitely don't want airdrops and micro-transactions, and I'm pretty sure this isn't something devs had in mind either.  :D

Look at the Walking Dead show. WHom is scarey? A Zombie? No. 100 Zombies? Hell yeah! But the scariest of all? That group of scavengers that have started killing other survivers.

Now look at 28 Days Later. ^_^

It all depends on personal perspective and which 'zombies' you're expecting. It's not an absolute thing, it's about how much scarier the Infected are than the Survivors (or vice versa), and is more like a scale that's not reached its final balance point yet.

Also, short reminder—

Yep, it's still an early Alpha game…

First 10 minutes of a game on the new update: you can find any loot anywhere, found military loot in a garden shed, found 2 tents IN SHEDS, in a military base found garden tools. Zombies health are doubled, they attack at the speed of Bruce Lee.
So yeah, this patch just broke the game.
Awaiting further patches...

Veiled? Everyone? Man I am not mad at anyone. I am upset at what just happened to a game I was enjoying. So much so I broke down and came to the forums. We are about to try again. New one of our guys logged on and got sick from water. So we are going to help him now. Indeed. I think a long break is needed. I think everyone up set should take a long break. Sorta makes a point.

I found my first tent and set it up 3 hours ago, was still there when I logged out. Are the all de-spawning or just some of them?

Wish the notes mentioned the change in pumpkin size 3X3 instead of 2X2 and the ones that don't fit you bag dissapear in 10 seconds. With the rarity of seeds that cost me 3 pumpkins.

Loving this right now. Yeah it's hard but that's the point. The only issue I have is the zombies that have managed to sneak up without making a sound. No snarling at you and no footsteps. Just a glitch though so once that is fixed it'll be fairer. Still hard but at least it's fair when you hear the wee bastards coming for you!!

I dunno about broken loot, on a private shard I found a complete OREL uniform, an MP5K, a stabilizer for it, four 30 rnd magazines and a 15 rnd magazine in the Berezino Police Station.

Found a combat knife in a shed.

Didn't find anything decent for melee until I found a splitting axe up at NEAF.  The civ terminal is no longer a hot spot for pistols and magazines but I did find an AKM and a magazine for it in the same UAZ out on the airfield, the one near the broke down BMP.  In that same UAZ, under the AKM mag was an AK74 mag and a mag for a Makarov.  Near there also found a frag grenade and 2 stun grenades, a couple of weapon and pistol flashlights too and a CR75.  Three zeds were out there, wandering around as they do now, in that area too but I got by them all in the dark pretty easy.  NEAF sure does pay the bill again.

Tried the hockey stick on a zed, yeah, don't bother with the hockey stick.  It has become what Don Rickles always said it would be.  That zed I just sort of blundered into, came around the corner of a shed and there he was, not making any grunts, growls, groans or foot steps, they need to start making noises again.  Ended up shooting him and freaking out about maybe drawing a horde but didn't, lucky me.

Actually, I think that got turned back on with the roll back Eugen talked about early in the .55 experimental process.  I say this because I have been routinely running them down with a truck since that patch.

So after i played a bit yesterday i watched some streams and everyone had the same weird zombie behaviour. They desync/rubberband/teleport around and they hit you without hitting you :O

As soon as they touch you you get damage, no need for them to make a hit animation. And the speed of their hits is insane.

And it feels weird that they need so many hits to die. They are infected humans, so why can i kill a player with 1-3 hits from a mele weapon but need 6 hits to kill an infected?

So, to sum up the first day:

  • Disappearing Drum mags (known issue),
  • Disappearing tents (devs are aware. fixed?),
  • No zombie footsteps, scarce (no?) zombie growls (devs are aware, ETA 0.56),
  • Some servers had no loot (fixed),
  • Wacky loot distribution (known, will take some tweaking. "a couple weeks"?),
  • Rubberbanding / desync / netcode optimizations (most likely known, but may take a while).

To me that sounds like your typical Day 1 of a new patch - issues are identified, work continues. :D

Also, Peter mentioned plant pests - did anyone encounter/test those yet?

Found a "solution" when fighting zombies. Albeit it won't be a good idea in pvp situations or near a server restart. But whenever a zombie starts coming after me I just drop all my clothes off. Fight it off and then grab all my gear back. Seems so far to be the only way to not have my clothes ruined every time I run into a zombie. Lol this game.

Feedback:

 - Nice to see zombies a bit harder, groups.

 - Nice to see that you can evade zombies.

 - Desnyc. is way to big.

Got a small nostalgia from dayz mod.

That reminds me of falling off in WoW and trying to take off all your gear before you crater to avoid the durability hit.

Game mechanics.

..at least DayZ has the excuse of this being an Alpha. ;)

I did some farming, and even before getting the fruits a tomato plant became "infected". Weird tomatoes, not rotten, but clearly not healthy.

Just looked in 3 different towns in a 7/50 server - No food/Water just clothes, as for the Zombies i understand they're supposed to be a challenge but what they are now is far from that, i've said it from the beginning and i'll say it again. - Z's should NOT SPRINT. The speed they sprint, they fact they made no sound when in aggressive mode makes them OP. I got hit 4 times trying to kill one with an Axe, what the FUCK is that shit? Take out the brain/head that should be the zombie down and that's not the way it is atm, it's too inconsistent. Sneak? That doesn't work, i was behind a zombie by about 10/20 ft and it somehow spotted me. You can't out run them because they run faster than you do, you can't run in an out of buildings shutting doors because the minute you do, they're waiting at the OTHER exit. Super speed, super strong, super quiet with barely any loot anywhere/ Whoever decided to make Z's the way they are needs a slap in the face with a chair, it was a terrible decision to implement these changes with the game in it's current state. And as for loot and persistence i don't think it will ever be a success, another month away from this while there's some hopefully SENSIBLE changes made.

I actually like a lot about this patch, but I kept my old character and am still geared to the teeth with guns and ammo. There are two clear ways to engage an infected now: attack or avoid. And I loved shooting zombies, since the first silenced pistols appeared. So I usually get by quite well by shooting them. A real issue are the missing sounds. In the mod, I felt much more confident in towns about spotting infected before they see me. That's pretty impossible in the SA, because they still simply charge out of nowhere. I avoid spawning in towns completely since this patch.

What's so frustrating about the current melee is that you get so little feedback. I fought 4 or 5 zombies with melee and they all just seemed to hit the air next to me, yet I got damage. You can stun them and strafe them, but they still land too many punches. I think we need more time after stunning them to land a hit and I'd really like the addition of a push or a kick to keep them away (on middle mouse button for example). The worst part of this is that it ruined 2 raincoats entirely. The damage didn't affect my crafted vest, but each time I had to look for a new rainproof jacket (why are there so few civilian ones?). The damage infected do on clothes is over the top now.

You can sneak around them most of the time. They didn't attack me when crouched, even when crouch running at a reasonable distance. But this only works in villages and fields. In most cities I found myself wondering where and how I triggered a zombie response. I understand that the devs don't want us to sprint through cities and instead advance through them tactically. However, especially in the beginning you want to cover a lot of ground to get geared up and it's annoying to be slowed down to a snail's pace then. Even in the mod with its many more infected you felt moderately safe after picking up a fire axe. There has to be some kind of satisfaction to getting your first gear and being able to defend yourself.

I do think we will see some more use of the medical stuff now. Saline bags seem a fair replacement for a few zombie hits. Provided you travel with a friend or make one. This is the kind of necessity that forces players into cooperation and interchange, so I'm all up for that. We will see more of it happening when we need to rebuild the vehicles with parts. The game changes, but we will change with it.

About central economy. We see local economy within our own clans and groups. There is always interaction between me and my mates, as we share food and resoures. I'm sure most of you do the same. But this is just microeconomy and works, because we are in the same place at the same time (and don't shoot at each other). I still wonder how a central economy would work in that regard: neither can you trust or simply meet anyone you want to. I have thought about all kinds of ways to do that and I don't really see how. It would require some no-shooting zones. It would require a messaging system. Sure you can leave notes, but then what?

One thing I keep thinking is to make a kind of trade house in some locations. Put a blackboard with messages next to it "will be here every saturday at 16:00 GMT +1, trading leather and food for ammo." Make two or more entries to the place, which lead up to rooms on different sides of the trading door. You can permanently lock the door, once you are inside. There is a table inside with a drawer that only works when both trays are filled. Through the bulletproof window you can check the other guy's trade, before unlocking your tray. Make your trade, check outside, unlock door and make it back out on one of the two (or more) exits.

So far, 0.55 is great. I was on a server with 10 players, having 50 ms ping, everything seems ok. Minor desync from time to time. Zombie animations are working well.

I like 0.55 very much.

I hope persistence data base will not be wiped every week. Do you have more info about this?

so Popo stations spawn loot like you would expect a little random but mainly police themed.

The mil bases are practically empty of any mil gear.

My theory is they will make the mill bases spawn loot like the police station does but they just did not make those tweaks yet.

Any how I looted from Svelto to Lopatino with the mindset of "loot the places no one used to loot"...this paid off i found loads of HC vests, 1 SMERSH, a few aks, several hand guns, a sword and loads of mags.

I also now am the proud owner of 5 trucks mwhahahah
