Tatanko 5591 Posted October 7, 2014 Senchi just sent out a couple of interesting tweets: Anyone have any thoughts? I know a particular fellow explorer who may or may not have been investigating the underground parts for a while now (I'm looking at you, Weyland ;)). I, for one, think this can be nothing but awesome. I have complete faith that they will do a great job with this. My only hope is that we don't have to wait forever to get it!
doomdude1 48 Posted October 7, 2014 That's excellent, if they use that as a new loot spawn and slowly start reducing the coastline high-tier spawns we might migrate players further inland.
boneboys 7988 Posted October 7, 2014 Please note.. "We've got a slight misunderstanding here. Senchi was a bit excited to share what he was currently working on, which included some work placing some structures/models over some small holes in the ground. This should not be taken as any confirmation of an underground system, or sewers, mines, or anything else like that. :)" http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2ijl4f/underground_cavernsmines/cl2q0ij

scriptfactory 620 Posted October 7, 2014 I can't wait to play a survival horror game that has caves. Caves are pretty much necessary for a bandit hideout.

Caves are pretty much necessary for a bandit hideout. There aren't technically any caves in Chernarus, but there are some awesome rock formations in a few different places -- particularly along the coast just north of Svetlojarsk. With barricading in place, they could be made into a quasi-base structure very easily and have large overhangs to keep you and your stuff dry and safe.
yazar8 584 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Great to hear, because I'm bored of looting Vybor, Pavlovo, NWAF and that ridicilous base at Zelenagorsk. By the way, what's up with that base at 109 - 019 there is a base there but no loot. Edited October 7, 2014 by Yazar8

Tatanko 5591 Posted October 7, 2014 By the way, what's up with that base at 109 - 019 there is a base there but no loot. The compound? http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Compound_(Krasnostav) Nobody really knows yet. I've discussed this facility at length with another forum member and we can't really come to any conclusion. That has been there for many versions now, but they haven't really done much with it. It has military-style walls and towers, but the bunk-houses don't immediately indicate "military". It also wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to de-militarize the NEAF and then re-add military items in basically the same spot, at least in my opinion.

I remember when I first noticed buildings there on the in-game map and went to check it out. It was in my first couple days of playing. I think the fact that I found nothing there made it even more interesting to me. I kinda hope it stays like it is, a fun little enigma in a relatively peaceful part of the map. Drawing my route for the first time I was going to to NWAF from Chernaya Polona, by the way literally "drawing" because I planned my run there before going. I wanted to take a look, went there and found nothing and I was expecting good stuff there, but nope, nothing at all. It looks more like a military base though. Wolfe(^..^) 9 Posted October 7, 2014 Any further confirmation on the Tisy location? I'm really glad that they'll be putting it there, if so. It'll be cool to see some action in the northwest.

They included a map that outlined all of their intentions in the North, including that base and other towns.

Tatanko 5591 Posted October 7, 2014 + Thanks, I feel derpy, lol.Totally okay! We all have our moments. Now you know :) Where is this cave (huge hole) you speak of sir??The largest "cave" that I know of is up north at about ~148 016. It's in the huge mess of rocks between Svetlo and the new village of Berezhki. http://dayzdb.com/map#6.148.
escobert 112 Posted October 7, 2014 I think there's 3 or 4 "caves" on the map at the moment. They're very small and can barely be entered.
Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) Anybody that follows Senchi should know that: I was talking/speculating to Tatanko about how the Mine next to Kemansk would be underground when Senchi first dropped the new map of the Northern Corridor. Then we have the ^ pic. Which leads me to thinking about Underground Bases. During the roadmap presentation [or was it post-presentation during the Twitch interview?] Dean Hall talked about how they took it off the map, but also said that didn't mean it was off the table. I know they've been wanted to to underground bases since the mod circa late 2012 and when you want somehting that long, you find a way for it to work. Is the Mine a prototype for an underground base? Sometihng to think about! Edited October 9, 2014 by Weyland Yutani
odin_lowe 3686 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) Sadly: Update from Hicks: We've got a slight misunderstanding here. Senchi was a bit excited to share what he was currently working on, which included some work placing some structures/models over some small holes in the ground. This should not be taken as any confirmation of an underground system, or sewers, mines, or anything else like that. :) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/212559-twitter-senchi-new-northern-military-base-in-progress-not-tent-base-will-include-some-underground-places/ Edit: I would love to have underground facilities. Of course, a lot of people would say it doesn't fit with the fictitious region we're in and all, but an underground base similar to let's say, Object A2 on Namalsk, placed under Green Mountain on Chernaurus would have been great!! (In my opinion.) Edited October 9, 2014 by Odin Lowe
