Why did you buy DayZ?

Recommended Posts

So what is your reason for buying the game in the first place?

Was it the zombies? Or the Hardcore survival aspect the game looked like it offered? Or was it just for the PvP?

In all, we should not focus on what we want out of DayZ now, but what brought us the the game in the first place.

If that aspect of the game, the part that made you think, "hmmm, this game looks nice, maybe I should spend some money on this/download the mod" Then you will have a game that people would love.

My friend told me to buy Arma 2 for the mod, and I'm just like "mm, okay why not" and I bought it. Now I'm a fan of DayZ and Arma!

I 1st got interested in the mod because I really liked zombie games. I played that and had a friend get it because it looked fun and we had a blast. Then the standalone came out and I automatically got that and three of my friends got that plus the one with the mod so now we all have a blast! XD

For the hardcore horror survival game that it is to be and to also be involved with the early development of the Standalone game as a whole.

Snip

I played the mod, waited for the SA to get through its first few inevitable major bugs and then I purchased it full well knowing what I was getting into.. I love the intensity of the pvp in the mod, and the exploration aspect of playing. I get about the same already from the SA, but must admit the mod is still a much better experience to this day.

I have faith in the products BIS puts out, but also do not expect perfection from them as that is not their track record. What they do typically bring is some of the most realistic games out there, and I know that once the SA is finished it should be leaps and bounds better than the mod itself and that is my main reason for purchasing it. Also, it was a steal at its price so I could not go wrong.

I used to think back before DayZ mod ever came out "I wish there was some sort of open world zombie game, with a huge map and permadeath and a truly hardcore environment where players are the biggest threat".Been playing DayZ and ArmA since 2012.

I watched some videos and dug it (the mod).  It seemed to capture the spirit of the type of game I'd been waiting for since I started playing UO 17 years ago, of an open sandbox with full loot/pvp.  I'm not really big on zombies, so that part doesn't matter to me much.

Pretty much played it more than anything else for close to the past 2 years.  I wrote a steam review for it, it reads:  "The best game since Ultima Online" =P

I bought DayZ SA to help test it and watch it develop.  Any other reason beyond that is the reason these forums are so full of drivel it's disgusting.

I got hyped watching youtube videos, and tought i'd have a great survivor hardcore experience, even knowing it was in alpha... what a mistake ! but i still have a lot of fun and like watching how it is progresses through the years.

For me it was the open PvP, full looting aspect of the game.

I couldn't care less about zombies or survival..... and before anyone says go play Arma 3 or whatever..... First of all, fuck off, and secondly I want to role play a bad guy and that doesn't work in a death match, you need unwilling participants in your evil to be a bad guy

Same here, even the year lol. I watched some videos and thought it was badass. Always wanted a zombie game like this, although I want features I doubt they'd put in.

Definately to pick up chicks when i saw the custom clothing options i thought this has to attract ladies!!!

Seriously to support the development started playing the mod in may 2012 and always thought they could do more with it if it was its own game so i am here to see what they do with it and enjoy the ride..
