Yeah they are op when they hit you while:

 

* far away

* behind walls

* invisible

* obviously missing

* teleporting

* not having an attack animation

* sliding through obstacles

* facing the other way

 

etc.

from what i can tell ( and this is more Feeling than fact ):

the damage inside the pack is distributed from top left to lower right in exact the order the items are stored.

Thus after i had one row of "useless crap" in the first row subsequently ruined it seems to not harm anything below it...ALTHO, could be that the damage i took wasent that severe.

On the other Hand..i got one-hit killed by some Z bitch some days a go so...who knows...

Another Thing...i NEVER store anything valuable in Pants or uppergarments...just not worth it since they get ruined the fastest. BUT i do store helmets in them, i have NO idea if that helps a bit but iam just too stubborn to give up that practice...

Yeah the zeds are stupidly dangerous now. Freaking first zed on patch went invisible on me and one hit ruined my gear and hurt my leg.

To hell with these patches. The game gets worse everytime.

They are bugged, yes (less bugged than two patches before though). That doesn't make them op - they are still pathetically weak and stupid. Right now they are reduced to annyoing gear destructors when you should worry more about your health in my opinion.

 

Maybe make them deal less damage to equipment but increase their health to survivor levels (yes thats probably my #1 wish regarding zombies) and fix the mentioned issues.

What the hell is weak about being invisible and one hit ruins gear and breaks legs? Another gift from this crappy patch is zeds that are outside of a house can hit you while you are inside from 10 feet.

When the zombies work as well as they do in Dead Island, I'm happy :P At least those were scary to some degree and not just an annoyance.

they are borked at the minute the more stuff you carry multiplies the damage they do I think, or something like that, it will change eventually thoough i'm sure they're working away at them in the background

I got attacked by so many zombies and never had this. Its probably not linked to zombie strength but simply a bug - actually it sounds like you got the leg breaking bug that has nothing to to with zombies in the first place.

 

All the other bugs mentioned... are bugs and do not change the fact the zombies are weak. We cannot even be sure if those are linked to zombie attributes and I doubt they are. Its like saying the M4 is OP because a lagger killed you while using it and teleporting all over the place.

Are zeds now ruining items in you pants? I've only ever had them ruin the stuff in my jacket/hoodie. Well I guess that means nothing is safe in your inventory and I'm gonna have to find a way to reduce the amount of stuff I carry, which sucks cause I always have a bunch of food and medical supplies to assist others if they need the help.

OP zombies, really? I wonder if dayz is the first game that you ever played in your life.

 

Yeah zombies are OP. They spawn way too fast and they can't die. I blame physics for it. I was at the airfield yesterday, shot a zombie then his ragdoll kept following me and hit me, barely managed to escape.

I wouldn't say they were OP, just a little broke atm but are still very easy to kill imo

 

Some zombies kill you instantly with 2-3 hits, and no I am not exagerating. I was at Balota yesteday and a zombie hit me twice and killed me meanwhile I was healhy and well fed.

Unfortunately your best bet for not loosing pristine gear is staying out of towns or using guns more often. Thats all i can really give you guys as a tip that want to keep everything fresh.

 

But its rather boring if you avoid every single town so i mean if its common gear i understand. But for high capacity vest and rarer items i can understand the frustration.

The ones that stand up all the time and attack you wont HOWEVER in some rare cases the crawler zombies can mess up legs and boots if your not careful about it.

After playing last night, I don't think that the zombies are OPed. I think really glitchy maybe a much better word, or really buggy. When my melee weapon DID work it was a one hit deal, that was with a regular axe not even a fire axe. But they are buggy as all hell. Sometimes they can't go through walls and they work like they should, some times it doesn't. Some times they can hit you from really far away and sometimes not. Sometimes they are invis sometimes not. Sometimes melee weapons don't even swing when you need it too. 

 

With this said, for me I don't really even want to deal with zombies at all. In fact I don't really even want to play DayZ SA in its current state. Its a waste of time. I don't really trust the melee system or feel I can relly on it anymore. The zombies are completely bugged I sorry to say. Its a prefect storm to make not want to play, and wait. Its been this way since .47 stable. It has nothing to do with player skill, its bugs.  

 

I think in the future I'm going to wait and see what other people are saying about the state of DayZ before I pick the game back up after future patches. Just to save my poor avatar the trouble, and keep from wasting time. When it seems stable is stable I'll come back....I'm going to read closely to the known issues, to see if its worth playing or not. Otherwise its just a big waste of time, like a few hours...which is a lot for me cause my free time is limited.

Yep. I always distribute a row of sticks at the top of my backpacks. Even if they're ruined, just leave them there. They'll still protect whatever is underneath them (unless someone blows an entire magazine into you).

Agree but its very common for zeds to be invisible since new patch. I know its just alpha so it will get better but they should weaken zeds until the desync is not so awful. Edited by hothtimeblues

Dude, are you not reading what we are saying? The desync from this patch is making zeds invisible, so you cant help but get ruined gear or broken legs. Stop ignoring-how shitty the patch is.

I think the reason people are so quick to say "Nerf" or call skill level into question is the vary name of this thread "Zombies a little OP again?". When it should be named "Zombies buggy again? and WTF up with this melee crap?". LOL It makes it sound like the Zombies are over powerful and they are just beating up on players which is not what I saw. Which calls player skill into question. When the real issue is the Zombies are terribly bugged, and melee dosn't always work. Which has every thing to do with broken game mechanics, serous bandwith issues, and rushing out patches and content to quickly. And nothing to do with player skill what so ever. This is not the players fault.  

 

This is the problem that happens with pre releases. They are building the game as we play it. The reason, they don't want to pay software testers "game testers", could be that its an indie game and they just didn't have the budget for it. So everyone who plays DayZ is kind of an unknowing tester. My feeling about this is really mixed. It is really cool to watch it be developed right in front of our eyes. But then again, its something that normally game company's pay people to do before release, then in BETA they will go ahead and give free copys to "BETA" testers which are unpaid. DayZ SA is not doing that at all, so we will have to go through all the growing pains with the game.

You serious? I can take hits and not bleed for ages, I have only ever died by zombies once and that was when I was a fresh spawn and about 5 rushed in a building at me and this guy and they broke by legs, he shut the door and put me out my pain, I think zombies should be more powerful tbh. I am never getting ruined gear and 1 hit deaths by them

Those things remind me of creepy crawly clowns, really really freaky. All those bastards need is a multi colored car and clown music and I'd never touch this game again, well maybe I'd never kill another player....just spend the rest of my days killing those bastards

EDIT: I have yet to experience the problem. And I have been playing the patch all day.

Had a crawler zombie sneak up on me last night with no growls or warning. Also my friend shot a stand up zombie and I saw it die and slide down the hill, but he just saw it continue to run towards him, got so far and just running insanely on the spot. Then another crawler zombie, killed it by shooting it also but instead of the dying animation it just hopped into the distance like a frog on a mission. Also noticed that even if you kill the stand up zombie with melee, they can still hit you on a back swing.

 

There is just no pleasure to be had fighting zombies with the current shitty melee system however easy or hard it is made.
