  1. Well you bring up a really good point, your eyes do adjust. That is something that could be looked into as well, adding that mechanic in. I think that is a really good point. Say if you light a fire your eyes readjust which is already kind of there, or temp blinded by a headlight or flash..One of the reasons I bring up night vision flir, is because it could be a nice alt something on could find at a crash sight that could help them at night. Also having a feature say if there is a flash or bright light it could be temp thrown off. Just an idea As far as exploits go, well like I said people will use them weather they admit or not with in MMOs. DayZ SA is a can be a really unforgiving MMO, so I would say players at times will use what ever advantage is presented to them, even more so on say a high pop when they want to survive. Now I do not turn the gamma up, although I will confess during groups we always tended to be mainly on daytime servers anyways on higher pops. I just don't ever think to use it on night servers, pref game immersion. That's just me, I will not knock people who do, because quite frankly it is completely withing the game to simply turn it up. Also I think most players gravitate toward daytime servers on higher pops, at least during the bulk of the time I spent playing. So me personally I think it is a lower on the scale of things that should be looked into. Would you agree? In fact I would say I have always had less encounters with other player at night regardless. Also the game has had much worse vis at night, you know that. It used to be really bad right at release. One could not see anything....Its way better now. So I do not think its that bad at all right now.
  2. This is an interesting subject I think. I do not hike up the GAMMA when playing at night, nor never have. When I 1st started playing back almost when the SA 1st came out, it was pitch black at night period. Night nav was really difficult. You could only see the outline of objects, street lights, tree outlines ect. I took the time to still try to run around make it to point to point b, using stars, weather on a incline or decline. I will admit not always with success. I served in the military and it was similar to night nav minus true north, and some of the more complex aspects of night nav. I did think at the time it was abit over kill for your average player, unless they were into simulations. Now days things are much more visible at night, there is a level of sight and lighting. I do not feel the need to turn up gamma. I know there are players who do turn up gamma and to gain almost day time level of sight. Exploits will be used in games if there made available period. Every game I have ever played people exploit mechanics, more so in MMOs. I think at this point it should be looked into. The level of lighting is more then good right now at night. Force players to either adapt to the lighting using lighting sources in game or simply adapt to the lower lighting. Also, maybe provide night vision optics on as a vary rare item latter in. Just my thoughts.

from fun to pretty much unplayable

The reality this game is not everyone's cup of tea lets face it. When you got games like GTA online, elite dangerous out there, ect ect....might get a little in patient and decide you know I just don't have time for it right now....I just want instant grad. It's a simulator, with zombies. I like playing flight simulators too, learning how to fly airplanes in a virtual setting. Prepare 3D....Let me tell you it is time consuming...so allot of the time I simply dont have time for it. Its a huge time suck. Same with DayZ, you can spend hours roaming the map picking up gear, then just get shot.....done! If your solo, that gear is likely to be just gone. No awards, no steam bags, nothing. So Yeah I get why some people its not always everyone's cup of tea. Really the point of it is kind of real life problem solving skills in a sim setting right? One thing I would advise, If one is serous and wants to make a serous attempt at playing. Is to read the wiki, check out dayz tv and read thru patch notes...It can save you allot of head ache. There are streamers out there that really do a good job explaining things. That's what I did returning.

from fun to pretty much unplayable

Over a year ago I was really active in the stand-alone, as well as on the forums. I pretty much fancied myself sort of a solo/group survivalist player. Did I pvp yes, but often I only got into fights I knew I was likely to win. So say games like GTA online, pvping is much more wreck-less. Really who cares, you die its just a notch off the kill death ratio, no biggy...In DayZ I always treated it more like it was a real life sim, so ultimately my goal was to walk away leave the other guy spawning back at the coast. So I used caution all the time, and so did many players who took a little serous. That was the difference between players who took it serous and the instant gradification players I played with, many only stayed alive a couple days maybe. Sometimes I kept avatars alive entire patchs til their was chr wipes. Many would give me crap about lol cause I never would run into death traps. They would say why bother, there is no real survival mechanics that make it challenging. Then 5 minutes later they would be winning of vent about how they lost all there stuff and then proceed to blame hackers.......aww the good ole days haha Also over a year ago though many would come here to the forums and say this was not a survival game yet, and it was really limited in that regard. Many would complain about it and say it was too easy and the real players were the pvp die-hards. People who tried to survive a while, well were considered kind of wimpy. WELL here we are, here is your survival game! Dam wolves, zombies that are way more believable, no food, cold as hell out! come on! Yeah probably have to pick some apples or hunt and animal...to live....I think its kind of cool, a breath of new life in this game. That's half the fun dieing and learning from it....making a plan as a new spawn.....the adventure....really having to think.... Hey if it makes you feel any better I returned after a year and got my ass handed to me haha Gamer's are so funny....never happy haha

Yeah I will not complain, maybe just say that should be tweaked a bit. I always fancied my self a survivalist player. Maybe like 30 to 40 minutes. The food count I think is good, I like the fact food is hard to come by. Honestly I think I am feeling challenged now, I am going to try again. I know one thing I probably will not be able to move as quickly across the map if there is foul weather.

My 1st real attempt at surviving ended in a really a nasty death. So I pretty much was doing my normal old deal. Gear up with basic stuff, get the green bars, gather food then set off for military camps, explore or just better loot. I was down at electro doing really well. I logged out then logged back in, on a rainy server began heading west headed toward cherno. I had the green bars not thinking much of it. Kept moving looted some more the noticed my avatar was gravely hypothermic. I did not want to light fires in cherno so I headed north to a smaller town....by then it was getting critical. Zombie attack! died really quick. haha....It was crazy how quick my avatar went from green bars to hypothermic...took a matter of 10 20 minutes. Part of me thinks, that mechanic is kind of over done, must be really cold. On the flip side It really does add a since of survival which I like. In the future I will probably have a fire starting kit on my person or most of the things needed for it. Def not as easy as it once was. Funny thing was I was more concerned with the elements then other players. Def a new dynamic there, that changes the play field.

Regardless the zombies work way better then they did over a year ago when really there were just 3 or 4 types and they had no stealth mechanic.......They are much better now I think they should just be x number of them on a map, every restart...no spawning they gravitate in the citys maybe but can wonder off......might be allot of memory issues with that maybe........or bandwidth issues created by that

Was kind of wondering if it met, like beware there is a weather system coming. Yeah it really does seem like it is coming together finally. I found the hot and cold mechanics with respect to the avatar to be much more balanced now. I remember a year ago it was like either there was no effect, or it was really over done. I think right now I am going to explore the map, check out all the new sights. Hopefully I don't eaten by wolves haha.
  9. Hello, Been gone a while, checked on a few patches but I think .61 really caught my eye. I played the crap out of dayz a year ago, ran solo, clans and decided to leave it alone a while and see just give it some time to be developed further. Part of it was I was simply burned out haha after playing for some 600 hours. What was there left to do? So i played other games for a while, elite dangerous, GTA ect ect I spent a few hours playing .61. build..................I like it! I like the new loot count. I think I only found 2 cans of food. The rest I had to get off the land. Much more of a realistic survival exp. This I def give a thumbs up! All my time running solo a year ago I kind of hoped for a day with in the game. Also the zombies I think have come a long way. There appear to be much more of them, they seem more organic with in the game. Not just running after the instant you near them, if one uses stealth they can be avoided. Kind of something that was totally missing before. Technology wise I improved my cards to 970 slis...and 5.1 head phones, which make for a much more realistic game play, vary enjoyable. So that plus the improvements to the engine makes for a much better game play exp. Also really like the gritty improvements to the city's and map itself. So yes there was a zombie apoc in a eastern euro hell hole and no this is not just arma 2 with zombies. I am really glad to see much progress! I think my interest has been re-sparked. So what is weather advisorys? I keep seeing that pop up on server mes? is that something new?
  10. I think DayZ SA is what it is right now. I still love the concept of the game, and enjoy playing it. Like you I also took a break for a long while, and mainly sat back and watched. With that said, its a alpha and its not going to be done for a while. So why should I burn my self out on it. I paid 29 bucks quite a while ago. I got lots of play time out of it and had a great time when it runs well and vary different game exp out of it then with other games. It is worth playing to me, and would never want to see it just shut down. BUT I'm not dumping all my free gaming time into playing it right now. I play patches that I think look fun, If its buggy or there is nothing added that interests me. I simply wait. There's tons of other games and things to do then to get to hung up on it, unless they just dumped it. I would rant and rave then, because it would be allot wasted. But I don't think that will ever happen. So If you enjoy the concept, I would say just be patient with it. There going to finish, and in fact the plan is to even make it mod-a-ble by players. So were talking unlimited game play with in the confines of the engine.....At the end of the day I think it will be pretty dam interesting. It's kind the problem with early access. Software development of any kind, can be a painful process. This new early access game thing is kind of a double edged sword in my opinion. One one end you get to get in on a game your really interested in early with out waiting. On the other end, you have to go through the growing pains patch after patch and slow. Games take years to make. It also is cool to see indi developers make the idea into reality who other wise would not. Players have to understand it though and made vary clear what it all means. Which sometimes steam doesn't always do well.

    PVP zones

If your "thirsty as fuck" for pvp, go onto a high pop and take you and "squad" over to NWAF. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of ass-hats over there for to you to pvp with, and if not go on down to Vybor were everyone and their uncle goes...which makes zero tactical since, seeing how out in the open it is there, with about zero cover. Or here's a fun idea take over the prison with your budy's. There is no shortage of ass hats that go there too. And if there's not then loot the crap out of the place. Either way its win win for you, seeing your probably going to die all the time, its kind how of it works, its how it is in dayz for the instant grad pvper, if you want trouble well you can find it. You die, then you can quickly gear back up, instant grad pvp and repeat the cycle right? That's my basic advice to you if your looking for pvp, any military loot spawn serves 2 purposes, PvP or gearing lol Careful what you ask for
  12. To me the game map it self is pretty good. Compared to the old Arma 2 map there's allot more. I chose strangely to some the weather vote. Lets be real, .59 is pretty easy to survive in when you set aside pvp. I have never been cold, and only get hot for a short amount of time. I wanna see rain, snow and wind. I want the tention to be there when it gets bad, give the feel that you need to do something about your situation. Also I think its time to change the anbience as well. Get some more sounds and an even more gritty feel to the game. But I know they probably have an order there doing it in for good reason. More Zombies would also be nice, but I wanna see many types. Not hord's of the same old hooker, military and dude zombies. But I'm sure there working on that. Animals, well in a realistic manor. I don't wolfs just appearing out of the either.

    LOOT SPAWNS

I have to admit.............returning after many months my self I wondered that myself about no loot in the prisons. I knew there had to be a reason for it, now I know. As far as loot in game in general, I will say there's quite a bit really, as long as you can settle for not having some of the more high end rare military items right off the bat. Really you can get geared well enough to survive for some time, in probably a game session really. Getting the higher end stuff can take a long time. Although simply shooting a geared player or ambushing someone....well that cuts down on that time radically. Not the nicest way, but people do it. Because players that go through military areas who know the game, generally are hostile in the military areas, at the min on high alert...unless they haven't learned yet. So really its kind of a free for all. Right?
  14. Its kind of funny but I noticed players have become even more careless over since a year ago. Not even paying attention in military areas, and yes me and you know helo crashes are military loot areas. To me that means hostile area and KOS. But whats funny is there's like a new bread of players/hoppers now, that are almost like drivers that text. They kind of run into areas and just loot without paying any attention to whats around them. I seen this a few times since my return, no shit people running right past me not even knowing I'm there. Its because there in a mad rush to get all that fancy new gear. I say let them do it. Let them have there fun. Let the people who hunt them have theirs as well. I just don't wanna hear KOS this and that complaining when they lose all there stuff. Typical DayZ with a twist, now there the new distracted driver players now..haha hoping server to server almost on auto pilot. To get the cool gear. Helo sites have all the new and latest military high gear. Stuff is not rare at all.......well stuff we REALLY need isn't. The weather is pretty nice too. So no need to worry about getting cold and crap is every were including "smokers". Zombies are light, you can just sneak past them. Games running smooth. Did we play this game a year ago? haha Things are great now. Yep the Mosin was my choice gun a year ago, it is really effective. I love the mosin too. The helo spawns to me are not a problem what so ever, in-fact it seems there plentiful. I gotta say.....the game is taking a long time to get to release state. I say lets not insist on the devs spending time on something, that can be corrected later. Instead focus on completed this thing.
  15. What I noticed about DayZ now vs several months ago, it seems that there is more helo crash sites then ever. Maybe its just me. I ran into 3 or 4 smokers a week ago just by accident. Only western though. Super rare guns, well to me you can get by with something else. I found a AK-74 with all the with attachments my 1st day back. Even has a silencer. All found in standard military areas. And let me tell you its effective against geared players spending more time paying attention to looting then whats around them lol. But really....I my self am not going to spend a huge amount of time helo hunting in game. My luck is I spend a huge amount of time helo just to be shot....Its this weird dayz karma I seem to have. I always live much longer just getting what I really need then moving onto other stuff. That's how you get shot, spending huge amount of time in military areas, paying more attention to looting then whats around you. So I would rather the devs focus on more pressing stuff.
