Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.33.114782

Recommended Posts

Performance seemed better in southern big cities. Or maybe it was just that because servers restarted every 10-20mins. Zombies are better. More agressive? Some nice new loot. Love the new warm looking jacket. Belly stuffed full of water and you die of starvation. That doesn't make sense.

I think it is a bug, because it only occurs when you are hydrated and stuffed. I ve you are not hydrated and stuffed, it takes a lot more time to get hungry.

Pretty weired .

I want to say that the character eats a lot and quickly die of hunger and thirst, it is bad for the game and balance. How many need to drink or eat to not fill a full stomach?

??? If you have full Energy, not stomach..., you can go 22 hours of game time constantly running without getting hungry, over 80 hours of game time without getting hungry if you are sitting still! That is a LONG time not to get hungry.

You can't imagine how happy I am with this update coming up... Thats a lot of things you did I can't wait till they come out, well done keep it up!

I love that we will finally get rid of combat loggers also cloning seems to be off as well thanks to this, right or I am wrong?

  • Login: Player queuing system introduced. Penalty waiting time added for switching server or disconnecting a server quickly

Also could we know some more about this:

  • Login: When players logout, their avatar sits on ground for 30 seconds. Players must make sure they logout somewhere safe

Here is my idea how you guys could do this to work quite good in my opinion:

b]Non-Character Log-off Timer

Also known as Zombie/NPC Flag, this flag becomes active when you activate any offensive module against Zombie, or when zombie attacks you.
This flag lasts for 2,5 minutes, and when active, your character will stay on server after logging off for the duration of the timer, before disappearing safely.

Character Log-Off Timer

Also known as PVP Flag is similar to the Zombie/NPC flag, this flag is activated when you use an offensive module weapon, axe, fists etc. on another player or another player uses such an effect on you. This flag lasts for 10 minutes, and as with the NPC flag, your character will remain on server after logging off for the duration of the timer. If the character is aggressed by another player while this timer is active, the timer will reset, potentially keeping the character on server indefinitely.

SAFE LOGOFF:

If you are not doing anything dangerous, you can opt to "Log Off Safely". This will give you a big on-screen timer showing you how long until you log out. When the timer runs out, your character is immediately removed from server and you are informed that you successfully logged out.

The safe log off should be accessed through the options menu, The Safe Log Off timer lasts for 30 seconds.

You cannot be safely logging off while:

You have active item in your hand
    You are bleeding
You have aggression from players or NPCs/Zombies
    You are issuing movement commands
You are launching or using items

Like if you like this idea... :P The timer settings is up to you guys

I was stuffed and I died of starvation. Wtf?!

I too experienced this!

I ate 4 cans of food and drank from a waterpump. Rougly 10-15 minutes later I was starving.

Probably just bugged out, because on my second life, I ran to cherno with barely any food and survived.

I think that the anti-combat logging and ant-server hopping measures are superlative. Anyone that complains about them are either serial combat loggers or loot hogs that often jump servers for loot. I wonder how the server hoppers would deal with the fact, if you only had one character per server and server hopping was not in the game at all. It is a survival game afterall, if loot is not in an area, then you either have to move on and deal with it, or be the early bird and hope to be the first next time. Jumping servers totally defeats the purpose of this whole game and idea behind it. There is nothing like the feeling, of searching and searching and searching, to finally find that can of beans or that much sort after scope. Going to an area, camping it and then server hoping until your items shows up, totally defeats the whole game. Anyways, just my thoughts on the matter, and iam glad something is being done to stop both of these game breakers!

I too would like to confirm that the eating/drinking system is a bit off in this experimental build. Seems to be related to the fact that you drink up at a well until your stomach is full. Short after, you start to vomit and immediately after that you get REALLY hungry. You get the green "hydrated" note showing on your character, but no sign of the "hungry" one, despite you being notified about it at an increased rate, like every 10-15 sec, down from the regular 30-40 sec or so.

After 2-3 minutes you get the "I'm starving to death" notification, but still no "Hungry" or "Starving" not on your character. Attempts to eat really don't work, you only keep losing color vision and eventually bite the dust =)

Also getting "Session lost" every 2-5 minutes, guess that is the server rebooting?

Let's be honest, there is no need for a complicated log off system. Something simple like the one used in the Epoch mod for ARMA 2 is more than sufficient.

>Hit ESC

>10 seconds log off counter with a 5m range. If a player or zombie is in this range the counter pauses.

>Once the 10 seconds are up the 'Exit' button becomes available and you can freely leave the server.

??? Если у вас есть полная Энергия, а не живот..., вы можете пойти 22 часов игрового времени постоянно работает без проголодалась, более 80 часов игрового времени без проголодалась, если вы сидите на месте! Это ДОЛГО не голодны.

at least indicators of food and water is not clear how to eat and drink ())

On the 30 seconds log off.  For those saying this is too long, imagine this:  You engage a player(s), they fire back and take cover behind a building/tree.  You wait for them to break cover.... how long to you wait, they may or may not have just logged off!!  30 seconds is not long to safely approach hidden players, they are either sat down (logged off) or pointing their guns at your approach.  Its not long to make a flanking move...  I'd prefer to see 60 seconds.

I'm having the issue finding weapons, I went through about 10 towns and the NWAF twice, and I couldn't find much for weapons. no sks and only one m4 found so far.

I item spawns are not being reduced to this level, it would be a real pain to find just about anything

Problem is, that loot is only respawing if the server restarts....IF the server is running for several hours, its hard to find anythin.

You got me, I totally agree with you. I think the same, or just do like 3-6h delay after switching a server. There are three major bugs at the moment which ruins the fun, it is:

* Combat logging/

* Cloning stuff

* Switching servers for better loot because you are in Balota aifield, there is no loot? Ok lets switch to another server... wait for host... 2/40 players... mniam... BALOTA FULL LOOT, LETS LOOT AND GO HIGH SERVER 40/40 and show how pro I am... <sarcasm off>

Me and a lot of my friends agree on that, props for DayZ team for working hard but I'd love to see these things to be removed as fast as possible, so we would feel more survi climat in this game as u said, we would go to another city with friends for cans or water because the one we are is totally lotted, sometimes we would fight for that if we would see someone looting it etc....

Currently ppls do not care because if there is no loot, they just switch server if again no loot they switch on another until they find... :(

Sorry for my English, it's my 3rd language I am learning on my own I hope you guys understand everything ^^

I was on when test servers were goin up and down so i got lucky and i had change to loot military base with 1 prison and 3 barracks for like 4-5 times and then all NW airfield. All i found was 1 or maybe 2 m4 and few magnums and fnx'es. What was no big deal for me anyway since i got my Mosin. I think its just perfect! It should be hard to freaking get weapon like that in zombie apocalypse. It should not be DM game when u have weapon after 1 minute and You are ready! It should take hours and alot of KM before You can get really good stuff what is military loot.

I agree with you...but...not everybody is a pro-supa-dedicated-gamer. What if your children starts to cry and you have to go immediately? You can't go in the woods, just a few seconds to logout. Imagine also that when that happens there are no firefights, no players around. A zed knocks you out while you are sitting there and you lose a week character (talking about finished product of course).

Yes, combat logging is a gamebreaking problem and this one is a solution, but maybe not the best one: I hope it evolves in something more user friendly. Atm, the logout timer there was in the mod was more user friendly and still doing partially the job, so I prefer that.

We'll see the future developments.

Edit: what I mean, in case it isn't clear, is that all points of view and situation have to be considered. This is against combat logging and it partially works, but firefights will not be the only game situation, and players also have a RL around them.

Played the experimental branch all night. Awesome changes. Why do the servers restart so often? One of them was restarting every five minutes.

I'm sure it's to test restarts and spawn points or something I was just curious.

Thought it might be to test the new spawning myself at first, but just a crash caused by crafting it seems.

Part of the problem is a known crash, that we've already fixed but that we have not pushed to experimental yet.

It's 11pm here so we will push it to experimental sometime tomorrow. The server crashes when someone tries to craft an object in hands that there is no space for.

This SKS gun can actually be good thanks to semi automatic fire. But in game m4 still will be better becouse more bullets in magazine.

You can remove the fixed magazine and replace it easily with 20 or 30 round mags.  http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/prod/SKS_30_Round_Magazine

And unsurprisingly, the SKS is exceedingly simple to convert to full auto fire.  (not reccomended though, as it can fire out of battery, and isn't really switchable)

I understand entirely.. i have a 4 year old and pregnant wife..so when RL calls..

But you spend the vast majority of your time in game in relative safety, so when RL does have to make you drop everything, its unlikely to cost you your life, and if it does, hell, RL is more important.  Its a compromise worth paying, 30 seconds is nothing really.

Also I would like to see food and water take up more inventory space, and longer periods between thirst and hunger.

Inventory having weight which effects stamina and stealth would be cool.

There are long periods between thirst and hunger. The problem is that we all start out dehydrated and on the verge of starvation. Once you get your energy level and hydration up, you can go for hours without eating or drinking.

That 'stuffed' notifier would appear to be bugged out just like 'healthy' is in all the other builds, it just doesn't go away on it's own. I have verified this stuffing myself, running for 10 minutes or so, and then eating a bunch more. After having a pack of dried milk and a couple cans of food, the bottom left of the screen came up with the white text 'you are full' warning again. If I was truly stuffed before doing that, then I'd have vomited and that warning would have come up in red.

The "stuffed" message comes up when your stomach is half full, IIRC. If you eat after that, you might throw up, with the chance of puking increasing as you approach a full stomach - i think, that last bit is conjecture.

Of course, the new patch might be bugged as well.

I was stuffed and I died of starvation. Wtf?!

"stuffed" just means that your stomach is getting full, can be water or food, or a combination of the two. You can still have low energy and starve to death, if your stomach is full of water.

nice changelog, GG.

Edit: the logout timer on the mod never worked , you could just open your inventory and press alt+f4. took about 0,2 secs longer than before to combatlog. so this 30sec solution is better imo, even if less controllable/more dangerous.
