October Round-up: #DayZDaily

I don't know when the game releases, but what I know for sure is that whenever I will hear the word standalone in the future I will right away think of the problems DayZ had with releasing the alpha.

As long as it's not "trial and error" LOL ;)

hoping

The only reason these big projects benefit from being open source is because they have many thousands if not more of programmers who will freely look through the code and find vulnerabilities and either fix them themselves or report them to the publisher(s).

With SA, since it's owned by BI, only BI's own programmers will work on the project and who would want to spend their time trying to find vulnerabilities in a client just to report the vulnerabilities to the publisher?

Besides, the BI programmers are smart enough (hopefully) to know what is exploitable and what's not, and hence don't need to make it open source.

I actually think BI would benefit from releasing the code under a Free License and concentrate on art and terrain assets - something they are really good at. Keeping the assets under copyright would still slow them charging full price for the games while benefiting from community work on the code.

This thread is a clusterfuck of idiotic speculation. Why can't people just have patience for something? "Oh noes the game took one year to make, it must never be coming out." Just retarded.

It's just rollercoaster really, give it a few and someone will start up something different soon, or the SteamDB will update giving us another little grain of hope.

Like I said several days ago, I'll be happy if SA is released by Christmas.  It seems like that actually might be a realistic possibility but I can't say for certain.  We'll just have to sit back and see what Rocket says.

When the SA is released I'm hiring professional twerkers to stand on either side of me and twerk like the apocalypse is upon us while I play.

Just imagine 2 Sir Mixalot grade booty shakin' mamas just working up a sweat beside me while I rock the apocalypse.

*takes bong hat off*

I think the only valid point regarding release dates is Duke Nukem Forever (such an ironic name) and the gargantuan list of games below it that took longer than DayZ could possibly take.

What do you think the official Dev time will be for the SA?

Maybe 14-18 months tops?

For a 225km square map and massive amounts intricate multi-layered content that needs to be shared in real time with players possibly sitting on the other side of the globe?

Easy as taking beans from a Bambi, right?

Also, I make an awesome cup-a-joe.

This really doesn't do anything for the game, it's not a fool-proof way of preventing BF fans from getting into the game. Personally, I was playing all yesterday (Korean VPN, lol) and today and still managed to check the forums every other hour for info.

He's a brown fellow whose beans I grind every morning for to perk myself up. Apparently, he doesn't mind at all.

More on topic.

Getting around as the rat must take forever.

Can I restrain a zombie?

Will bathsalts be the cure to the infection or if you feed bathsalts to the infected do you get a double zombie?

I'd imagine it to be an omen that they are mainly happy with the build, but need to tweak and polish up a bit more before 'hitting the button'.

I think the final lap is done because one month has passed and they're now testing.. After the test we see if it's really ready and do we need a grande finale lap to fix performance.
