Cheese Grinder 91 Posted March 10, 2013 not me :)I'm not really in to my PvP in Dayz but it *is* an important aspect. The point being that hopefully it wont be the *only* aspect to the game.Lastly, I still stick to my steering people away from DAYZ and to vanilla Arma2/3 if they want a pure PvP experience. Just as I would point players who wanted a pure flight sim to IL2 for example.RgdsLoKDon't forget that Dayz pvp is much different from vanilla pvp.
OrLoK 16182 Posted March 10, 2013 I'm not :)But as I said wasteland, for example, can give a similar but purer version of PvP. (if that's what you are after)L
shadowjack 254 Posted March 10, 2013 Until PVP is somehow nerfed, all of Rockets survival plans will be for not.You have that backwards my friend. PVP will never be nurfed, nor should it be. The "survival plans" will make PVP less of a first option for many players. Not all players but i belive enough to see a noticable difference.

PvP in Dayz is much more than that. It's a bigger gamble since its much harder to find weapons and food and so on.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) Just from what I saw, I don't think that was Novoselki they were in. If you think about the positioning of that supermarket in the devblog, and the way Rocket ran towards that hill, that implies that they are where the Vysota Barn and farm area used to be. I believe Novoselki is in fact over the hill, actually directly North of Cherno, rather than North-East which is where this was.I can't find the pic I was thinking about, but when I first saw the devblog it looked to me like they were in a bit that would be off to the right in this pic.I think the Vybor barn is the bit circled in red. It was my example for something totally unrelated. But it serves this purpose well enough. That little area carries a lot of weight in my "memorable moments" section.Note, the little tower to the right of my circle(under E in HERE!), and the long white cowshed to the left, up the hill. You can see what looks to me like the new apartment buildings to the bottom right.Obviously I'm probably totally wrong, but maybe this can explain my little bit of speculation. :PHonestly, I didn't study the video at all, I just made that assumption right off the bat and didn't think about it much after that.EDIT:I'd rather not have things confirmed or denied, I enjoy wonder and anticipation far more. Gunther (DayZ) 65 Posted March 10, 2013 PVP is going to be very different when you are actually facing consequences for you actions. Right now in the mod it is way too easy for people to get their hands on all the high end gear they want, so it makes no difference to them if they run into town guns blazing. If they end up dying, all they need to do is get on whatever server their stash of spawned in gear is at and then they are good to go again. If you don't have a M4A1 CCO SD and unlimited amounts of ammo, you may want to hold back and not get into gun battles with everyone you see. It seems like in standalone you may even need to think about saving some ammo for actually killing zombies.
Shadow Man 142 Posted March 10, 2013 the busiest biggest servers full 24/7 are pvp servers ! denying pvp play is a bad move its clearly wanted . just because minoritys want no pvp thats not how it works. you cater for the biggest majoirty.infact make a poll no pvp or pvp in the game the pvp will win everytime ! i do agree other things need adding but people denying the power of play pvp brings to dayz are living in cloud cuckoo land. That is quite possibly the worst philosophy for this game. If there was one thing I hoped that the DayZ devs would do, its to not cater for the majority or implement things because thats what the people are doing or wanted. Pvp is a part of DayZ, but it definitely should not be the definition.Personally, anyone who still thinks DayZ is purely a pvp game will be disappointed.Your point about the most popular servers being pvp servers may be true, but they have all been playing a mod, not the finished game. It did became pvp, but only because there is nothing else in the game. With the zombie improvements and all the survival elements, I honestly cannot see DayZ remaining so heavily pvp orientated.Saying it is a bad move to remove some pvp makes the assumption that the devs are only interested in the game being popular, which I don't think is true. They hope it will be, but Rocket has said that he wants to make it his way but if no one likes it then "Oh well".

Private Evans 1303 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) no not totally removing it just some are trying to make out pvp isnt needed or isnt a vital part of the game. its one of the biggest parts of the game . trying to deny this is foolish. whether it was meant to be by rocket is a different story but the game has evolved itself into a pvp game. trying to alter the product that masses enjoy to cater for minorities is a bad idea.what i dont get is all you have to do is look at walking dead tv series which is basically this game just in game form.rick and his crew started out lets help all lots died people betrayed people and after you get fooked over a few times you dont go back you become less trusting you would kill more on sight you wont take risks.this is highlighted in the later series and just shows the differences in how dayz is played now and how it started out.i do agree more things need to be added to dayz but im just saying dont overlook how many people play dayz for pvp.Thx god Rocket is creating this game not for casual gaming CoD kids. PvP will always be a big part of the game but it will defenetely not be the main aspect of the SA ! For example The Walking Dead game by Telltales was such a huge success because people are bored of playing the same stupid crappy shooting games again and again. roykingtree 125 Posted March 10, 2013 The only reason I PVP is because there is nothing interesting to do in the mod. It's boring lol. When SA comes out, I will finally be able to retreat to my cave and build myself a little place to survive the zeds.

terrvik 2409 Posted March 10, 2013 As said before: PvP, at least for me, sounds so competitive and "gamey". I bunch the word, or term, together with leaderboards, killcounts, scores and achievements. Am I the only one bothered with this? :)Please remove PvP from the game, but keep the ability to murder the shit out of eachother.

x7steelers7x 1 Posted March 10, 2013 Flocks of zombies? Does this mean there could be giant hordes that pass through towns unannounced? Reminds me of the walking dead when they were looting cars on the highway and a giant horde came through..

deetaili 49 Posted March 10, 2013 Great work with the zombie hordes. I wish there will be zombies laying still (and making only subtle sounds) that would jump and attack players close enough, or maybe just grab their feet. Then you couldn't be sure if a body laying in the ground is actually safe to pass by. And if you can make them spawn sitting inside car wrecks, even better... B)I like this idea, it reminds me of the Walking Dead Season 2 where they were passing the cars and were unsure to whether or not the bodies inside were alive/zombified or actually dead. Player VS Player. ;) Edited March 11, 2013 by twinturbonet

I'd like them to lie in wait, camouflaged, and then pop up all at once, Red Dawn-style.
soapmak3r 677 Posted March 11, 2013 I think that the golf club from Dead Rising 2 should be in DayZ standalone...for no other reason than it is really funny...And I should be able to dress as an old granny too...
DemonGroover 8836 Posted March 11, 2013 Granny, and cross dressing in general, has to be a priority for the Standalone.Because really, if you had a choice of hiking boots or a nice set of stilettos there isn't really a choice is there?
