hq397 6 Posted November 1, 2012 Rocket I seriously love you not in a homosexual way, but in a way that a man can be so close to loving another man without it being gay because you are such an awesome dude I absolutely love the way you listen to your fans and players of DayZ and your game is going to be one of the greatest of all time because it is helped to create by the community to suit almost any PC gamer. St. Jimmy 1631 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Number One Priority is fixing the graphics glitches. I couldn't care less about any other bug fixes.Well I think this is Arma 2 or drivers issue because I get those glitches even without DayZ. chris_uk 16 Posted November 1, 2012 Err, yes you are. The countdown is on when you shoot the cow. Agreed on the kung fu. lolI know in the game we are but in real life if i go to throw a bean can at a wall im not in combat am i. If you look up what combat means it will say something like a fight or conquest against individuals or groups. I just think acts of a non violent nature towards other players shouldnt be classed as combat. Eg throwing a flare or chopping down some trees for a campfire. Etc. KField86 237 Posted November 1, 2012 About time. Great work to everyone involved. This was exactly what the majority of DayZ players, both the new and the ones who have been here since the beginning, have been wanting to see fixed with this mod for a long time now. Well, minus a complete stop to hacking but that's out of reach for the time being. I'm hoping, with WarZ's ridiculous 24hr lock-out in place if you kill off your limited amount of characters, it will send all the douchebags over there as it will be more enticing for them to piss off the people who spent $40 to test a garbage game. There's already private hack advertisment videos on youtube for the alpha there. Lawl.
venthos 605 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) The Combat menu is good but I definitely noticed a lag spike when it gets triggered and when it goes away. Lag spike at the onset of combat is not exactly ideal. This is not a lag spike. This is the fact that the player monitor script runs in an infinite loop and sleeps (pauses) for 2 seconds between iterations. This is done to *prevent* lag (and the monitor script has been this way since forever). You may not have noticed it before, but that behavior isn't new. The Debug Monitor was always delayed by up to 2 seconds as well (it used the same monitor script). It doesn't make sense to run a script that's looping hundreds of times per second to say "Are we in/out of combat?", so the existing monitor script is leveraged which only checks every 2 seconds. It's a reasonable tradeoff in my opinion. For all those upset about the distances involved, I think perhaps I should've named the system the "Action System". instead of Combat System. I don't care if you're lighting someone up with an Mk 48 Mod 0 or sitting in the forest playing blackjack with a friend. If you're "doing" something in the game and should be prevented from logging out on a potentially pursuing player ;PWhile I think the original distances involved are fantastic and work great (they've been in use for a month on the DayZ Redux servers), we (the community team) have ultimately decided on more conservative values for DayZ Official. Next patch, the radius in which firing sets others into combat around you is being reduced from 70m to 30m, and the radius from bullet/object impact from 50m to 15m (although they're still subject to tweaking before next patch). So, there ya go ;) I yield to the fact that I always want to make DayZ even more frustrating and unforgiving than it already is, which seems to be way too far on that spectrum for some folks to cope with. I concede that for the general DayZ official mod, the proposed new conservative values make more sense. Edited November 1, 2012 by Venthos

St. Jimmy 1631 Posted November 1, 2012 Little question about this "combat log" system. If server is getting restarted and I'm in combat do I combat log then?
ast65 11 Posted November 1, 2012 I just wonder why most of servers are still on 1.726...too lazy to update or what?
Mos1ey 6301 Posted November 1, 2012 the cow isnt going to turn around and kung fu kick you in the side of your head is it?You obviously haven't seen Kung Pow!I agree with the rest of your post though. This could be easily fixed by getting rid of the combat icon and just having the abort button disabled. People shouldn't be alt + F4ing to close the game anyway, so if you get killed because you alt + F4d not knowing you we're in combat then that's your problem. xD

DaGolem 95 Posted November 1, 2012 What a HUGE victory for HACKERS!!!!Initially, the Alt-F4 players were a problem. Then there was a shift in DayZ and the BIGGEST game breaker was the hordes of HACKERS. Many players have left DayZ due the unacceptable instances of hacking.Too little too late. The combat system was needed in JUNE 2012. Now it will do more harm than good to the DayZ Community. Where is the long list of anti-hacker fixes?Due to this new combat system, there is absolutely nothing a legit player can do. He simply MUST die at the first hint of a hacker and give-up ALL his hard-earned kit.The hackers get the last laugh, unfortunately. I was wondering why the hell someone integrated a ProHacker system and why Rocket alowed to do that. For me it is not a Community Patch because there was no Vote about. It seem to me like only a handful from the Comunity can integrate what they want. The good thing is you can DownPatch with DayZCommander and there are many Servers.Looks like many people are pissed off with this total unlogical system. So you can play without the crap ProHacker Combatsystem.Have my Debug monitor back....can see my humanity,my Blood, how many Zeds i killed.... NonovUrbizniz (DayZ) 137 Posted November 1, 2012 I just wonder why most of servers are still on 1.726...too lazy to update or what?I run a Gameservers.com server and LOTS of them are setup with web interfaces, that leaves it up to the hosts to provide the update in THEIR format to their users... if you have FTP access you can work around it but just directly updating the files linked here... I did that last night so I was the second or third Gameservers.com server to be up to date. Still today there are only 3 or 4 out of 55 servers. Play Cifor NY/NJ Yo! I keep that thing up to date yo!. root 48 Posted November 1, 2012 Why the G17 icon wasn't ported from Redux as well? I would rather have that than some test telling me that I'm in combat.
JamesButlin 108 Posted November 1, 2012 God are people gonna cry any more?! I for one am glad about this update and think it's brilliant. I've never alt+f4'd anyway. Been killed by a few hackers but fgs don't get so attached to your gear in an alpha of a mod!Lighten up, hackers wont be able to teleport themselves/you much longer.
hulkingunicorn 20 Posted November 1, 2012 [...]what happens if the player kills the DayZ client program (via some bound macro-tool), or rejects all network traffic?[...]The countermeasures are triggered.Search for 'cdn' in the topic, someone posted a link in the first few pages.Seriously anyone have the server files???Try the github repository.[...]What happened to peripheral dots?I do not see them anymore.Difficulty settings on the server. These were rediculous... good thing that those are gone, no way to "cheat" now. They're meant to counter the limited FOV, but I agree they're overpowered. The CAT-5 cable goes around your ankle twice then plugs into the computer. one quick yank and you're safe. Of course, wireless connections are a bit trickier.... ;)It doesn't matter how; if the server loses touch with your client when you're deemed to be in combat, the system triggers.[...]For me it is not a Community Patch because there was no Vote about. parratt 0 Posted November 1, 2012 Loving the new features, Kinda iffy about the 30sec abort block, just for modders will probably abuse that. And my gear will not save now nor my location, I found a G-17 and a Remington 500 and logged out to play on with my squad, then when i logged onto that server i was back ontop of the hospital with my 1911 and missing the new loot,

Did I miss that one or is this the thread you guys mean when you say this?Yes, that's the thread. It's about integration of the private hives:[...]Try to get a single repository managed and run by the community for the DayZ Mod.[...]Read: Have the DayZ community share the same code base. Also:And along with that, Matt has personally contacted and discussed with all the people we could find to invite them to the project.
