Make sure to report public servers that kick for no reason

Like the topic says, if a public shard server is kicking you for no reason make sure to report them to their GSP. I've reported two in the last 24hrs myself. Read here for information on reporting. People can't run a public shard server and treat it as private for themselves or their clan mates. If they want to kick, then they need to run a private shard.

one kept kicking me as soon as I joined, but I had to get in because my barrel was there.  I finally had to change my in-game name to 'STOP KICKING ME', and then I got in long enough to grab all my stuff.

It only ever happened to me once and at the time I just put it down to a connection issue and berated my ISP for it. It was only in hindsight I realised it was probably the Admins,,,

They should just SIMPLY REMOVE the ability for public server admins to kick somebody. The ONLY reason for being kicked should be cheating. And when there is more than one other person on the server who you don't know, then you can not tell who is cheating. Player names don't have the faintest meaning in DayZ and you can't tell who's who until you touch pulse (unrealistic, but... however).

If the the forum admins themeselves respond in this manner to a thread with a dozen or so players voicing frustration on this topic, what are we to expect in terms of resoution of this problem. I am embarrased I ever PAID to be a tester for this game. I was so very excited and invested in this game but after this experience since the patch, never will I play it again.

I can understand your frustration.  Please empathise too, that the forums mods/admins also are humans capable of frustration.

Though it's important for you and others to air these developments and explain their frequency to the DayZ public, this isn't the correct place to complain.  Nothing will get done here.  The mods have said this until blue in the face.  The forums are not affiliated directly with BI, the GSPs or anything else.  It is a separate third party entity, which functions as an outlet only for DayZ updates and facilitates community development.

 

You need to contact the GSPs directly.  It may seem futile what with all the form letter responses and apparent lack of change etc...  but it's just something that you need to do if you want to effect any kind of change.  I don't experience these issues so i can't really comment.

 

But the tone in which you post is one thing, and mods/admins may be more or less receptive (or lenient) but they're not going to help or be capable of helping any further than suggesting you contact the GSP.

There's also been a recent spate of people abusing Blue/Green/Purples (mods/admins/devteam) and then complaining when their posts are removed, they are reprimanded, or even having audacity to scream 'big brother' and 'assault on free speech'.  This is a private website and we've all got to treat eachother with a minimum of respect.

 

Again, this isn't the correct place to complain.  If you feel it necessary to comment on the frequency and frustrations of being kicked from public servers, then highlight it to the community without personal attacks or letting your frustration spill out onto others (not a comment @ anyone in particular, just a counter argument for the devil's advocate).

 

It may not have been the response you wanted, and may have been slightly more 'forward' than you would appreciate, but just like trying to get into a bar, when the bouncer bars you from entry because 'you've had too much' when you're stone cold sober, railing against him isn't going to get you let in.  Step back, deep breath, fresh water and then try again politely :)

 

Also, not sure if your criticism is entirely valid, in that I'm not confident that Boney was responding or commenting specifically with reference to you.  It wasn't your OP from the graveyard thread you describe, and there were several other people with complaints.  But ours is not to reason why. 

 

Moral of the story:

Take note of name/IP/time&date, your name at time, kick message and any other information.

Report to the GSP that hosts the server.

Record their response and your correspondence with them.

Did you report the server or servers, you say you have been kicked from more than five (5) how many 7, 10, 18 ?

You, just like the OP of the other rant Topic give no details, no information (kick/BE messages or other), just come here to rant and complain without trying to help the situation in anyway, your feedback on these forums is less than worthless, if you consider that you are "testing" and feel "embarrased" for having "paid" to do so (lol), that is your problem and you will just have to get on and move on.

 

There indeed is a problem with certain servers but do not forget that the contract is between the person that rent/buys (Admin) and the GSP (Vilayer/Fragnet etc), not BI. That is why there are Topics giving clear instructions informing players how to report servers not complying to the server rules, also take note that there are a different set of rules for both Public and Private Hive servers.

 

I have yet to be kicked from a regular Public server in an effort to see if there is another problem behind your relentlessly being kicked problem without success (yes folks I've been server hoping behind a bush NW of Vyshnoye  :D ).

This includes high/med/populated and high ping servers, If your claims are indeed truthful I suspect you are doing/have something wrong and/or are simply joining suspect servers.

 

If there is indeed a problem which results in players being disconnected without reason I'm sure the Devs will investigate and resolve any issues that may be found.

in my experience, servers i report are taken down pretty fast, slower if it is because of kicking, but very fast if the server is public and locked/passworded/auto-kick or is against the naming convention rules

You can report them all you want, every time one gets taken down, two new spawn in it's place, this has been going on forever and nothing changed.

This is usually a big problem after a new patch that involves a wipe - when individuals essentially pay to play by kicking. There are a variety of means. Some use auto-kick bots, some do it manually, some rampantly advertise the fact in their server names.

 

Trying to get back into the game over the past couple of days, it's happened so frequently (roughly 1/3 of all servers I've tried to log into) that I could spend my entire time reporting them. No, I'm not hopping, I'm just trying to get into a playable server. This is not helped by the fact that a high proportion of 'official' servers in my neck of the woods are broken.

 

The incentives here are clearly in favour of people doing this rather than not doing it, and something more substantial needs to be done IMHO.

I agree with mookie, it happens just by looking for a server. Usually around 8:01am, or 12:01pm daytime server. Some of them are auto scripts 0/30/50

 

Reporting them is more work then what it is worth. I would wish someone could allow us to red flag these servers so we don't enter them again.

 

I do agree with these players, that it is very much true. I usually only played private but now that i am waiting until beta to restart the private server, it is as rampart as it was a year ago.

Another thing that may happen if you try to join a server after restart where the server cannot fetch your data from the hive, you may find that you spawn in Vybor without any gear.

This happened to me yesterday (Private).

The 8.01 time has been discussed in the past but will not result in a character reset (as a rule).

I actually have been doing a fair amount of reparting. First you say posting feedback here on the subject is useless because it's a contract bewtween owner, GSP etc. then you criticize for not posting useful info. Which is? Post it here or don't? Also, despite your condescending assumptions, no I haven't done anything wrong or have any naming issues. Yes, I have tried to join some non-official servers and if you had actually read my post on that thread you would understand why when I stated:

 

The advice to join an "official server" is all well and good but... Currently all of those servers are dark to those of us trying to play after normal work hours on the West Coast. Typically I dont mind playing in the dark as needed, but after a new patch with Zs reintroduced and a character wipe, I'd really like to be able to see what's going on.

 

I appreciate that you have to deal with a large number of Dbags i your job but I don't feel that gives you the right to present the attitude you have or make the assumptions you have about what I am doing or not doing as a result. I am typically a player who keeps to themselves and simply tries to enjoy their gaming experience. This situation is preventing me from doing so and I am extremely frustated by it. Where else do we go to express these things or bring these issues to public light in addition to following the reporting structure inplace?

I usually dont bother with reporting servers that kick me as soon as i join but in the last few days it has happend so much that i started doing it. The other day i reported like 10 of them. But now im seriously pissed off. Me and my friends spend all day today and yesterday setting up camp and getting vehicles fixed. One of my friends got dayz'ed when i was taking wheels of our car, the car spun out like crazy killing him. So i was driving back to the coast to go pick him up when me and my friend suddenly got kicked from the server. We tried getting back in but got kicked withing 30 sec of joining. There's just one guy on there now (the admin) and we cant get to our stuff. (2x Gaz Volga, V3S, Car tent, 2 small tents, 3 barrels)

 

Three of us have reported the server now and ill ask the rest of our group to do the same. I would also appreciate if some people from this community do the same.  216.155.140.172:2302 hosted by gameservers. Try to get on and see what happens... if u do it right now whilst the admin is on there i guarantee u will be kicked. I managed to contact the guy on steam but he didnt reply to me, i explained to him about the camp and how he was breaking the rules but he didnt care and just blocked me. Calm down sonny, i didn't say it was ok for them to use loot servers. I explained why certain people get kicked from servers all the time and some of us hardly ever do. I put it down to the split between risk averse looters and those who prefer to play on higher pop servers while we loot, instead of only when we are "geared".

 

I made no reference to a contrast between what you do and what they do, just pointed out a commonality.

 

I personally think you're both as bad as each other.

It feels to me that u are sort off missing the point of this topic.

 

Admins are not allowed to kick people so they can loot risk free if they own a public server. If we all just say f*ck it and dont bother joining those 1 people servers we allow them to continue what they are doing. I used to think like that just hop on a fuller one and dont be bothered about it. But it doesnt solve anything, admins are abusing their powers way to often. Whether they are kicking people so they can loot risk free or kicking everyone from the server after they get killed to safe their stuff. We should not allow this and activly fight it. Wich i presume this topic is about?

 

I feel that i shoud be able to join any public server i want whether its full or only has one person in it. If the admin wants to play alone let him pay the extra bucks to get a private server and have it whitlisted, if hese to cheap to get one and has a public one instead he needs to follow the rules to keep everything fair.

 

Its this kind of thinking in my opinion that causes all these ''dont join kick'' ''clan members only'' ''testing dont join or kick'' ''char wipe dont join'' servers to exist out in the open. They get away with it and it needs to stop.
