That is entirely dependant on how 0.59 exp runs with them. No mechanics changed, they still have the same new AI and Sensors that they do in 0.58. Lootable infected? Not yet.

so has we see vehicule destruction  the door,hood,ect fall appart ,will we be able to take them off with tool or deconstruct car ?

 

Any part that can fall off, can be taken off. Yes sir.

Is it similiar to SQF? (By syntax)

No.

Will the interiors get an overhaul so they'll feel less cookie cutter?  On that note, I recall from way back there was discussion on barricading and furniture having physics rather than being static models.  Is this something still being considered or was that just a rocketism?

 

We don't have anything cookie cutter, everything was made by hand - by some awesome artists. Repeating models, textures, etc is just a reality of game development. Especially in larger worlds.

We don't have any plans to change static objects in structures to active dynamic physical objects at this time.

Why don't you guys freeze the screen on the client as soon as it looses connection to the server. That would fix the lagswitch or any random desync that happens on a client. Counter strike has it like that and its impossible to lagswitch there or kill someone because someone has shitty internet or downloading porn.

 

Honestly, at this point in time I'm going to remain tight lipped about network infrastructure, and security. There are a lot of things in flux right now, and I'd like to play my cards close to my chest -for the time being-. That said, thank you for the feedback though.

Hicks mate, can you tell us if there are plans to expand melee mechanics in game, and if yes, what kind of thing should we expect?

Ooooh, loving the timed animation/action system (what do you call that feature?). So many questions!

1) Do you have plans to vary the counter/timer? On the test it looked like a linear counter, but say for example, could you slow the timer (and subsequent animation) to indicate the character is close to 'stuffed'? Or perhaps even having the counter spike in time with the animation when you put food in your mouth?

2) I'd be guessing this will be kept close to the chest, but how will this system affect foraging? I enjoy the random nature of it, but I wonder whether that's even feasible with a timer? What about having some sort of diminishing returns for foraging too to discourage 'farming'?

3) It seemed in that test that the character immediately consumed ~200g of rice before the timer started. It hits me that people would immediately find that to be an exploit, unless it was just being used as a part of the testing,

 

4) (Not associated with the animation/action) No love for the vehicle's front quarter panels? Or are we saving up for that?

Q:Is shooting from vehicles still in plans? Will there be more commercial vehicles like pick-up or vans (like ones in mod).

Last night I played latest Origins mod update and new thing is that you need different tools for repairs of different parts. Since we have all those already in game, will it be like that in dayz? Can't change tire without tireiron,or battery without small wrench and screwdriver.

 

Yes sir - we talked about it at PAX Prime infact. (Shooting from vehicles)

As far as more vehicles, yes - more are planned but it is important to understand that DayZ Mod had the large variety it did because it pulled from Arma 2 - which itself pulled from several scrapped projects in addition to its own planned vehicles.

Yes, we plan on requiring different tools for different types of repairs.

4) We have no soldier AI to pilot vehicles, and no plans for it. I firmly believe if you see a vehicle being operated, or a survivor moving - it needs to be a *real person* - not a predictable AI.

You mentioned ground swimming and duping as top priority. What about players glitching through buildings. As far as I know every building can be glitched into.  Will this game-breaking exploit finally be fixed in the upcoming .59?

Hicks, I've got some questions about pre-existing tech that hasn't been fully implemented yet.

 

1. When might we see fixed/lootable world containers such as the minsk fridge inside buildings? And do you plan to add container animations (ie. fridge door opens when being looted)

 

2. Will it be possible to make a frankenstein vehicle by using various parts from other vehicles? (such as putting offroad tires on a sedan or vice versa)

 

3. How advanced will object placement get? (Such as placing maps on walls, moving furniture, attaching objects to each other, placing tent/barrels etc.)

 

4. Is domesticating animals still planned? (especially cows, goats, pigs, chickens)

We don't have hipfiring in DayZ? The character in question had his weapon shouldered.

Brian, please don't focus on calling it hip fire or shouldered; it's not aiming down sights which was the key of the question. Together with the crosshair showing off the alignment of the gun.

 

I am really disappointed that you ignored the question over semantics :(

Regarding animals in the game. 

 

1. Will there ever be something setup to where shooting an animal in the heart/lungs would allow you to kill it easier than say if you hit a leg?

2. We have all seen animation for players with bum legs and such. Would animals ever get this as well? 

3. Remembering the UO days with Taming and even today with games like ARK, any idea if we would ever be able to tame/train animals to stay with us? 

4. As I do not use arrows much, do they or will arrows ever hang out of people/animals/surfaces?

Hey Brian! Thanks for taking the time out for this Q&A. If you're still around - I'd love to hear more about any plans to remodel existing vegetation? Is this intended and to what extent? Pretty sure Chris and his team could make the plants of chernarus look just as good as the new buildings and item models.

Q: Any word on the new player controler, really feel like it's one of those quality of life improvments that's going to make make the experience as a whole that much better, and what are you most looking for to about .59?

 

Though of another question: Meele combat, will we ever come any closer to something reminicent of pherhaps Chivalry combat? Really anything is better than what we have at the moment. I just think that a guy with nothing but his hands should be plenty capable of dealing with anyone no matter how armed they are if actually manage to sneak up on someone, as it is right now meele ranges from totally random to absolutley useless, I feel like this hasn't been talked about in a long time.

  1. What is the number one misconception you wish you could dispel once and for all?
  2. If there was one aspect of Vanilla DayZ that you would change, what would be?  Why?  etc stuff.
  3. Are there any details from dev meetings you can share about unmanned base security you can elaborate on or hint at?  Advanced booby traps and the like?  (crafted shotgun stands + shotty + wire, etc)
  4. Are there any plans to support friendly survivor/nomad gameplay such as longer persistence of filled packs left at wells?  Currently all packs despawn after 4 hours (max) and this makes the friendly note leaving bug-out bag style gameplay nearly pointless.
  5. Do you like long walks on the beach and small dogs with disabilities?

I strangely approve of this, though a % would be odd.  How about a chance of a live chicken in the coop rather than the silly apple style %?

Any additional development news and intent to implement changes to the UI? When mod support is enabled, will this also be changeable based on user created content?

 

- One thing I noticed is a boost to the frame rate when using -newui.

That's actually a good question for Brian. He mentioned on Reddit that the current, horrible, apple picking system was only temporary.

 

Brian: Any chance to elaborate on the plans for removing some of the random gameplay elements like apple and berry picking and opening cans?

OK I got some questions

1-what new weapons are we going to see in .59.

2-can you tease us a spawn location for one of the new vehicles

3-are there any plans for some new revolvers or reapeaters

4-are there any plans on more shotguns

5-is the new cherno going to put in in .59

6-are 7.62×39mmr and .45 acp going to be spawning in civilian and military for now on to have people actually be able to use there izh 18s and derringers.

7-are the camo jails gonna spawn mil loot(really they should just have rarer chances on finding mil weapons or high end mil gear).

8-are police stations gonna spawn some actual police loot instead of jackets pants and cr 75 stuff.

9- is the handgaurd glitch gonna be fixed.

10-are the new enter able buildings of .58 gonna spawn loot.

11- are the wip enterable building gonna be enter able in .59

12- is there a estimate time arrival of when .59s gonna hit exp.
