Exp Update: 0.58 + Hot Fix.

Recommended Posts

Thanks.  I sat down in the bush and stripped neked to see how dramatic the affect was, had gear all around me. I'd been curious how water, in this case the pond, would affect body temp.  Not nearly as dramatic as I expected, much slower.  But in the end, getting to drenched status, (which took a while and seemed odd considering I was under water), returned me to just being wet, vs. overheating or hot.

Oh and it looks like you get about 30 seconds before the first warning about being out of 02.  I didn't test fate to see how long I could stay under water though.  Maybe next time.

I noticed you get drenched quicker when you actually swim. Walking talks longer than swimming. I realized this when I was crossing a creek that was much deeper than I was expected and I couldn't touch the bottom. I immediately went to drenched status.

The hot status tends to stay away when you wear light headgear or no headgear at all. I gave up wearing gas masks and ballistic helms.

On another note, how does the whole loot clean up work? We just had a few engagements in Vybor. I think we all died, 4 total. Not sure if the guy who killed me died when I shot back. I'm pretty sure I knocked him unconscious first, then I tried to do med support to my friend who was unconscious to no avail. The guy got back up, we shot at each other point blank, I went unconscious and bled out.

Long story short, I make the run back, no bodies were found, no gear found. The 2 cop cars that were there were despawned and no loot whatsoever was found anywhere in Vybor.

So another question would be, if it did a city wide loot cleanup, would that remove bodies on the ground as well? I made it there in less than 30 minutes from a cherno spawn. I'm not sure what the timer is on bodies without being touched.

This is video from the vybor gunfight and my friend got screwed by the gun glitch. As he was pulling the silenced pistol out, the guy got back up and open fired on him while his gun glitched heh. It was a learning experience, he should've shot him as soon as he got there to be sure but ah well.

Might want to fast forward to 3:43 to see the gun glitch scene.

We encountered varying levels of thick, heavy fog that kept visibility to an absolute minimum.

I never saw so much fog in SA. Is this new???

I haven't seen enough to call it fact but I'm working on a theory that dynamic events wipe a radius around them when they despawn. Not sure about bodies but have lost stashes and seen the area get stripped and slowly repopulate around the sw coast heli crash twice now.

any ETA for Stable yet meh friends?

We are waiting for another Exp.-Update that is fixing this weapon/item-drop bug that makes this build only partly playable. It's the last blocker i think. After that a build should be ok for stable. Hope for today (Exp.) and wednesday (Stable) but plan for any time this week and the next one if we are unlucky.

I was getting quite a few gun to shoulder glitches and I type "Hi, anyone seeing this? I just got the gun to shoulder glitch and I suppose someone is near?" No response every time. I was sneaking through tent city and same thing and no response. It was the 4th time in 20 minutes, so I ran off the map west, over two mountains and stood in no where for about an hour while I did a few things around the house and kept checking my character and the rifle was still in his hands. Meanwhile across the map on my 1pp character, I completely looted an area and I mean nothing left except 2 wool coats and came back after my 3pp experiment and the place was restocked mostly. Now that character has 4 orange backpacks...barf.

I was in Novy when my character put his pistol back in the inventory. I wanted to check if this is really triggered by another player and so I waited near the road between novy and stary since I assumed that this would be the most likely route another player would take. After two minutes I saw a survivor sprinting from novy to stary completely without cover. He was probably 150m away when my guy puts his gun away again. I think he got the same bug because in the same moment he stopped and went prone (he could not have seen me because I was prone behind stones and could only see him with the 3rd person camera). Strange tactic to sprint over an open field and go prone without cover... would have been an easy kill with my blaze. After some time he felt secure again and continued to the stary tents. I decided to avoid any contact and passed stary in a southern tree line. The gun to shoulder glitch then happened very often (5-6 times in a row) so I just logged out.

Have you even played the game in the past 6 months? bodies unfortunately despawn with a really low timer, like 5 minutes or so. They do stay around however if you stay in close proximity to them, for more than 2 hours actually.

Sure feels a lot different from any bad weather the three of us had ever encountered before. It was awesome.

What is the current status of cheaters in the alpha?

I recently got killed by a gun that reminded me (sounded like) to the infamous AS-50 and couldn't see the gunner after a few shots. You never know If you got killed by a legal sniper or simply by an invisible cheater.

Has anyone found netting or a boar on 0.58?

Not sure about the boar.

Netting is spawning in the small boats on the coast, but not in the boats that are static on every server.

There are a few dynamic boats (they look the same) that will appear and spawn loot in the same general areas.

For me the southern coast produced more netting, the eastern coast didn't produce but that could be luck, so ymmv

So I've looked high and low for a tent the past few days with zero results.  Checked every shed, shack, house, apt. barn, etc. across the map, but nothing.  It's dark out, spitting rain again, I'm in one of the larger cities, which I loathe. Off in the distance I see a speck, smack dab in the middle of the road, at an intersection no less.  Hmmm... kinda, looks like a motorcycle helmet, better yet, probably a trap. I turn to leave, then second guess myself and proceed to checkout said speck.  Low and behold, in the middle of the city street at the intersection, a shiny (damaged actually) large military tent, just sitting there all by itself.  Really, seriously I thought?  Looking around and waiting for the hell-fire of bullets to rain down.  I paused, found a place to dump my backpack, and whatcha know, I finally have a tent.

Now the conundrum, probably an exp. patch tomorrow, thinking I'll just sleep with my tent tonight, as a pillow.

I shall reveal the secret location of all the tents - they are in my camp!  ;)

They are actually all grouped together though - civilian, military and car tents - in the same location.

You need to head to the short tenement buildings

uI2bExf.jpg

The secret is this:  tenement buildings are clumped together and all of them will be empty of loot except for one.

(I'm guessing that most people give up after searching a single building and find no loot at all)

When you find the right building it will have all of the tents.

IMT and I took a single trip to Novaya Petrovka and came back with a full camp.

I found a mil tent backpack and I carried a car tent,

IMT put two civ tents in a mountain backpack and also carried one back.  Instant camp!

There were at least 6 more civ tents in that single tenement building.

So just keep looking until you find the right building, then shop for your tent of choice  :D

I've seen this in both Novaya Petrovka and Novod, I suspect it's probably true anywhere short tenements are clumped together though

I've got some more interesting issues with the CLE. Some villages seem to be completely empty, for example I was in Stary and Novy today and not a single item had spawned anywhere; nothing in tent city, either. I didn't check all the houses but at least 70%, and I've seen this before, so I guess it is a problem. It could be that the CLE cycles some villages as "empty" as an additional challenge, but I think it is just a bug. I've seen the same thing happen in Dolina a couple of days ago.

I also came across two trucks in Stary, one toppled over and lying on its side, the other missing all but three wheels. We need a method to "turn" these vehicles again. A pulley has been mentioned more than once, and I think it is a great idea.

I'm a bit disappointed with military barracks at the moment. They seem to spawn more civilian gear than military. Most of it is completely useless, unless you wanna go to military bases, just to get fancy dressed. The officers barracks seem a bit better, but I mainly find buttstocks and handrails and a couple of rounds of ammo there. Are military rifles really only to be found at heli crashes? The best thing I found inside a military camp was the SKS. I'm looking for an UMP, but had no luck yet.

I finally found some charcoal tablets and they spawned in a wooden shed. I searched lots of hospitals all over the map for those, but all I found in hopsitals were epipens (in south) and morphine (up north). The loots needs to be sorted a bit better. Like I wrote before, jerrycans at garages, construction sites and fuel stations. Medicine in hospitals, etc.

The CLE seems to have slowed down a bit, spawning fewer items or taking longer time to spawn them. Maybe that is just a personal observation, but it felt like stuff was spawning a bit faster in the first day(s) after release. Apart from moonwalking sometimes and the short and hefty frame stutter I get when entering Novy and Stary (and a few other towns), I've had quite a smooth experience. Got shot at nothern airfield today when looking for a tent, but I know that is not the place to look now. I only had a crafted bag anyway and a pistol. Tried to talk to the guys, but negotiating at the airfield is still not a great idea.

I found a boar a few builds of .58 ago -maybe a week?  Haven't seen one in the current build.

I think the spawning might slow down due to items held/placed by players taking up slots on the cleanup system.

If you take an item, and the server repopulates that item, but then you place it in the world, wont you then have to remove both for that item to spawn again?

Hmm that would imply an interesting, yet probably involuntary mechanic. Because as more camps get build and more stuff saved in world containers, it could mean less and less of it would be found in the world. Or at least you would have to search more and wait longer for it to respawn. Making it feasible to spend resources on finding camps and robbing them, rather than gathering just from the towns. There would still be consumables, but for people looking for certain items, especially high grade, they would look more at camps than at actual spawnpoints. Depending on how it's all balanced in the end, this could actually be really nice, but also really annoying as people could feel forced to break into camps more than explore the map. And breaking into camps is probably going to mean grinding for explosives, or getting your own camp set up first, in order to be able to craft such things at a workbench. Still, quite interesting.

I've seen some strange gear spawning in both the green officers barracks and the long ones, shovels and IV kits in abundance as pictured below. The only ones that seemed to be property spawning military loot is the one at the Myshkino tents, where I eventually found a damage M4, and at the Vybor base.

nah I found 15 UMPs total, 4 or more AUGs, like 2 M4s total, a couple AK101s and lots of m4 attachments, ammo etc all at the airfield

(not to mention the masses of barrets, shovels, tactical shirts and vests)

also since I am OCD about that kind of stuff: you dont need any of that http://prntscr.com/85n5yk , you already have a tier1 gun.

I can't find the actual quote so I'm paraphrasing here - but I think I remember the devs mentioning (maybe a few months ago?) that once items were placed in inventory, stashes or camps they were no longer included in the cle equations

edit: It was in Eugen's original post in "Central Economy" from April

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/223307-central-economy/

Each item in persistence binary also carries a lifetime value, Aka the time in seconds it can stay on the ground before expiring. Tents and backpacks/cases have the value greatly increased while other items diminish in matter of hours. Thus the loot caches should only happen with tents/cases/backpacks. While the system cleanes these items, it quickly starts restocking the original spawn points (memory points on buildings). Items in tents/backpacks/player inventories are not part of the calculation!

I've wondered how that works with guns.  I've dropped guns on the ground near/in my camps before.  They have stayed for days.  Does the CLE recognize them as being in player "inventory" or are they hogging up a worldwide gun spot?

We've had a repeater in our camp just lying on the ground for at least 4 days now and it hasn't been cleaned up.

The CLE is mystical voodoo magic to me, so I don't really know but as I understand it - the gun should now be removed from the overall item spawn count and now just part of the clean up and/or the gun persistence timer.

I thought they said fog and the like were not possible/weren't going to be added until the new renderer came around? If that's the case, this further supports the theory I've had for about a month now that they have already begun implementing some part of the new renderer and haven't told us about it.

Can confirm, though for me I've found them in more than one building, but those buildings are always side-by-side. These screenshots were also in Novaya Petrovka I believe. Second one is just a zoomed view from the same spot as the first, showing the tents across on the other roof.
