I was on just on the YOLO server and it didn't notice any difference from the other exp servers.  

However, by my calculations it is actually 25% better because it's an official test server named YOLO  :P

 

I did notice that the server name said no zeds but I did see four in Zaprudnoe, so I guess they made some changes.

That's not what I'm saying. I've participated in many early access developments for games and commercial products.

What I'm saying is I'm not pleased with THIS particular early access, and how it's being conducted.

I know I'm kicking a bees nest saying this, but this isn't how early access or alpha/beta testing is normally conducted in the real world.

 

It's like saying you're willing to help a friend move, and he tells you it's going to be difficult (that much you understood), but when you start working, he throws rocks at you the entire time and asks you why you're getting pissed off. Then everyone else helping him move calls you a pussy because you're complaining about the asshole behavior of the friend. The job would go a lot smoother with some very basic cooperation from the host.

 

There comes a point where "Guys I know this is alpha, and bumps are expected along the way, but this is getting a little ridiculous."

 

It's kinda simple. Keep parameters easily and quickly adjustable, and listen to your user base and make adjustments in a timely manner... Or don't go freaking crazy with the adjustments and leave them for weeks at a time. You want people to test and report back, don't purposely kick their feet out from under them on every step. Yes the DayZ testers probably like a challenge. That's great, feed it, but don't mow them over in the process either. Smooth it out a bit?

 

i try to follow your examples and some of them i understand...i hope, cause my english is bad and a bit rusty...

 

But, in my opinion, go and work for BI, but stop raging here.

We might be getting a new experimental update today..  Don't see anything on the steam d-base though, yet.  Eugen did tweet something, 12 hours ago, about another experimental and .57 going to stable, but not tonight after maintenance  maybe later in the week.

This was technically on Stable, but since it's in relation to the looming push to Stable for 0.57 I figured I would share here again. Spent some time today getting a last few good pictures to remember the yellow barn/garage before it's gone.

 

Using it as the good Dean intended :)

No persistence on stable is gonna be real rough on me, I have become such a hoarder, it's seriously nuts. On the other hand it may help get me back to the "if you don't use it, lose it" kind of mentality that I had half a year back. My current back pack has like 4 heatpacks, a pebble, sticks and tons of other useless crap that I never took the time to sort out.

I do need both knives though, and are 14 rags really that much? That field shovel, I don't know, we have such nice memories to share... Those pumpkin seeds here might be a bit damaged and I have not found a canteen or bottle yet to make a garden patch, but surely it does no harm keeping them around? Then I have some rope and a couple worms, although I have not yet found a fishing hook in 3 days, you never know when they may come in handy, right?

And why should I get rid of ammo just because I don't have any weapons for it?

 

I guess you get it, sorting can get tough sometimes ^^

Oh no! We may be gaining two new enterable buildings in 0.57 in the form of the guard house and the utility tower, but we're also losing two legacy buildings that have stuck around without loot since the beginning of the Standalone...

 

R.I.P. "Yellow House" and "Yellow Barn/Garage" :(

 

You can still go visit the house in Kozlovka and Mogilevka in 0.55, and similarly the barn/garage are viewable in Kozlovka and Gorka.

 

 

 

Used to be excellent for Pistols, tools and Camo clothing in the mod, the one south of Novy near the barn thats been replaced with a summer camp used to be one of my fav loot spots

I remember seeing a video Dean did quite awhile where he goes into these houses and garages and wonders out loud why there isn't any loot in these places.  He said he was gonna speak with someone about that...

I only let myself horde if I have a tent. To combat the way that I tend to gather things I've started actively restricting the number of inventory slots I allow myself. When weight starts to matter I want to have good habits and travel light so for example I don't wear vests anymore other than a pistol holster. The leather sack seems really good but ideally I'd cut myself down to just using a courier bag (maybe the leather one ;) ). Also I use the leather water skin because it's lower volume should mean it weighs less... We'll see if there's any reason behind my madness in a few months I guess. :D

Some servers are showing up but none are populating.  

Client and server seem to match numbers .57.128067 but I'm still getting "bad version" error.  

Maybe another update pending soon? or maybe they're wiping the hive? I dunno, just speculating and waiting...
