BCBasher 2465 Posted May 17, 2015 Can someone please go over the fire-starting drill with me again please? I had birch bark, and ashwood stick, a normal stick, a fireplace, and tried every combo I could come up with. I've got 2 cows worth of steaks right now and would love to try the cooking mechanics. galekast 70 Posted May 17, 2015 Had a nice wander about today.. Revisited the tanks/ural/humvee spot on the North of the map, loot is definitely respawning, same server as last night, lots of new items to be found.. UK1 01 I believe it is. Anyways, wandered about, carried on West tp Stary Yar in the very NW of the map, kept going til I hit the very NW corner.. Freaked out and ran when I saw a dude wandering around on the rocks nearby, I did try and say hi, no response, backed off quickly! Have to echo what I saw someone else say, the NW of the map is very pretty.. Started wandering south and there is a huge open plain with a massive forest in the distance and just one huge red leaved tree sitting out in the middle of it all, it looks fantastic and I hope they leave it like that as it is pretty beautiful! Took a couple of pictures and intend on heading South to Sinistok down to Lopatino.. Having a lot of fun just backpacking about, trying to find bits and pieces and the such like.. Still got enough food and drink to last a while and my bow will come in handy should I ever find an animal! Really want to test out the gas cooker (if it is working?) that I have been carrying about for ages! Really liking this update, just hoping to find one of the new guns eventually as it would be nice to see them but if not oh wow, my bow will do fine.. Wish we had a few infected running about though to keep me on my toes, although having 74 other people online certainly keeps you alert!

barnabus 1708 Posted May 17, 2015 Dammit. I hate when I set something down and POOF, it disappears. I set down my MP5 and it was just gone, logged out and back in and no MP5. Inventory management is still a horrible mess, hot bar is still strange, especially water bottles, I've had several of those go missing too when all I did was fill them up, suddenly they are no longer in my inventory for some reason, never set them down, they were just gone.

I had birch bark, and ashwood stick, a normal stick, a fireplace, and tried every combo I could come up with. I've got 2 cows worth of steaks right now and would love to try the cooking mechanics. So all you need is a piece of oak bark and a wooden stick. Combining them will create a 1x2 hand drill kit which you can then use it like you would matches but only once. The ashwood stick is just for the cooking part. (make sure you have 1x2 worth of space in your inventory before crafting! See below) Impro. backpack aka prettiest backpack out there still not working-snip- It works and here's the easiest way to do it: - Put the burlap sack, rope and stick on the ground in front of you. (Don't do this in a house*)- Remove whatever backpack you're wearing and also put that somewhere on the ground.- Craft the courier bag and then improv backpack as normal. If you try and craft it with a backpack on already, the crafted backpack will just disappear**. This applies to almost all craftables right now, be absolutely sure you have room in your inventory for them (that includes wearable slots) before crafting or they will just vanish. Following these rules I haven't lost anything. -------------*I find it's always best to craft or put things on the ground when I'm on the grass/forest floor/whatever other natural surface. Houses and such have unpredictable effects when putting stuff on the ground and stuff can vanish (often it seems to actually transport somewhere else but why risk it?) As for inventory bugginess in general, pretend the hotbar doesn't exist, don't put anything there, don't use it. ** This isn't necessarily true, it's entirely possible that if you had a big enough and empty enough backpack, it would just go there. barnabus 1708 Posted May 17, 2015 Impro. backpack aka prettiest backpack out there still not working ?? You have to have nothing in the courier bag when you make it, works just fine. To make the courier bag you can't have another pack on your back when you make it.
odin_lowe 3686 Posted May 17, 2015 Played a bit again yesterday. Surviving of the land from cows, chickens and other wildlife is viable, and somewhat very gratifying. Used the hand drill 5 times, and even though it's supposed to have a 50% chance of success, it always worked for me. Met some friendlies in Elektro.Called them the firefighter knights!Gave me some food, and we looted Elektro together. Parted ways a bit after. Overall still having a great time on experimental. Bonus pic: Suppressor on the CR75 sits correctly now.

I'm having trouble putting looks to names of trees in game. Ashwood messed with me for quite awhile because there's a tree in game that looks just like the mountain ash we have around here but isn't the ash in game.

I like where I live because even unarmed you're seen as the top of the food chain short of getting on the wrong side of a mama bear or a sick\old cougar.

ebrim 998 Posted May 17, 2015 So a few comments on map changes: New Gorka is lovely and fantastic. Really nice change and this gives me hope for the re-visiting of the other old cities/towns. The new parts of the map in the North and Northwest are ridiculously well-done in design. I was hanging around the new developments west of Kamensk (which is itself beautiful) and was just really struck by how it felt like this was a real location with a real story. Seriously whoever is doing this map work deserves some sort of award.

Some are even remote enough for very scenic campsites
finkieg 15 Posted May 17, 2015 Looks like zeds are back...I can confirm that - just had a dust up with 3 zeds on the outskirts of Cernaya Polana but found a Winchester soon after so retreated back into the wilderness to assess my situation. Am now double carrying a mosin and a winchester neither of which I have ammo for. Will roll with the first one I find ammo for so I can hunt. Yes zeds are back and my only melee weapon is my bare knuckles at this point... Hadn't been carrying one because the Z's were away at a convention or something and I've been searching for an ashwood tree today to carry a stick on my back (no luck yet)... Follow the Western or Northern edge of the map right into the NW corner and the go South a bit and look for the plains and solitary red tree, it looks incredible up there! Love it! Think I may hang out there and bit and drink in the sights!
