ebrim 998 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Can you elaborate? Sure, for example if you use it as a can opener, you'll only get ~50% as opposed to 100%. I haven't tried it on an animal yet (I have my bow, so soon!) but I'm guessing it'll be less efficient there too. Edited March 19, 2015 by Ebrim

Nice to know that it's still a superior option to, say, attempting to get energized by opening cans of food with a crowbar as a fresh spawn -- a kind of "it's there if you need it, but it will never be the best option" sort of thing. ☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) I just booted up and saw the server list and closed the game just to come in here and say in comic sans and bold pink THANK YOU to whomever switched like half the servers over to 1st person only!!! <3's and :beans: 's Edit: RIP press corps badass (pump shotty and a magnum). Whatever they switchified with the servers this morning did not preserve my 1st person character (the one that seemingly wasn't healing). Trying to log on to the same server as last night resulted in "wait for host". Exited after a few minutes and joined a "new" 1st person server and found myself as a fresh spawn. C'est la DayZ. ebrim 998 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Anyone have a good way to cool down a cooking pot? My poor bastard is going to get hyperthermic soon from carrying a fat-greased, fire-hot cooking pot. :D Another thing I noticed with this build that never happened to me before: I was growing a garden with zucchini and pumpkins and my pumpkins grew rotten. And... death by invisible zombie. :( Edited March 19, 2015 by Ebrim

Sometimes I'd open a can and have 90% left, other times close to 20% left.
barnabus 1708 Posted March 19, 2015 Heli-crash is persistence ?, it shouldn't be ( even in persistence-on server) as it doesn't make any sense , yesterday I found a heli-crash in which I found M4 so I dropped my SKS and took the M4 and logged out near it, today I logged in (same server) and found a heli-crash in the same spot along with my SKS and what left stuff from yesterday ! so it's either the server didn't restart from yesterday which I doubt or the heli-crash is persistence and it shouldn't be or maybe a bug that need to be fixed. This has been a problem for a while now. BleedoutBill 1636 Posted March 19, 2015 I just booted up and saw the server list and closed the game just to come in here and say in comic sans and bold pink THANK YOU to whomever switched like half the servers over to 1st person only!!! <3's and :beans: 'sNow yer talkin', thanks for the heads up. Unlike last weekend, I didn't see a single zed last night. I got a spawn on the North side of Novo and I was immediately caught in a downpour. I was cold and shaking long before I made it to shelter. I ducked into some garages and I found a can of spaghetti and a shovel. I can't get a prompt to wring my clothes, but I find another pair of jeans and some worn out boots. At least they're dry, but I'm still damp, shaking and cold. I ran laps in the garage, waiting for a break in the clouds. In between showers, I searched the houses in the immediate vicinity and I found a couple of tomatos and another can of spaaghetti. I was still damp and shaking when hunger became severe, I opened the spaghetti with the shovel and I got 11% from one can and 30% from the other. I didn't expect much from the shovel, but this is a serious let down. I find a heat pack! I haven't seen one of these for the past couple of builds, but I'm not complaining. Maybe I'm going to make it out of here alive, after all. If so, I'm going to have to come up with a new strategy. I've been extra stealthy and I haven't aggro'd any zeds. I haven't seen any, either, but I know that they're out there ... waiting. In my current shape I'm pretty weak and I'll have a hard time recovering from an attack. Novo's a big town, and I'm overdue for another survivor trying to take me out, too ... not that they'd profit from it. I'm getting surprisingly good performance in the big city, 45+ FPS, but I'm a country boy at heart. I give it some thought and I decide to move on to Kapmahobka. I check one last house on the way out of town and I find a sack of rice. Whew! First the heat pack and now the rice; things are finally starting to look up. I climb the hill and duck into the shed at the radio tower. I relax for a few minutes to enjoy the rice and a drink of water. I review my plans. As soon as I get to Kapmahobka, I'm going to dig a garden plot and plant some seeds. By the time I finish looting, it'll be dinner time. I wonder to myself if this is a preview of the new loot (food) economy. Are the devs trying to turn all of us into farmers? In the future, is the hoe going to be my best friend? I'll consider these questions at a later time. I have more pressing issues right now. I press on and my destination is just around the corner, when <No Message Received> To be continued ... TL/DR: I had a great PVE struggle, but I'm disappointed that I didn't see a single zed.
Tatanko 5591 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Another thing I noticed with this build that never happened to me before: I was growing a garden with zucchini and pumpkins and my pumpkins grew rotten. I think that was added in 0.53, but I could be mistaken -- I don't grow plants often enough to speak accurately on that. Are you saying they were rotten right from the get-go, or they became rotten after a while? The intended behavior is that they rot if you don't pick them soon enough, but if they grow rotten right off the bat that would be news to me. I have not personally seen a rotten pumpkin, so I think you just gave me an idea for tonight. Thanks! Edited March 19, 2015 by Tatanko
barnabus 1708 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Finally found some infected to kill. Had a mosin and a magnum. Due to lack of infected and the fact that the server emptied out I was running around rather carelessly clearing one end of large town. I killed 3 with my mosin all well within earshot of each other and none of them seemed to aggro to the sound of the gun. Running to a derelict apartment complex I carelessly stepped onto the street noticed 1 zombie right in front of me just in time to see 2 others on each flank as well. Killing the first as he aggro'd I ran for the hills in hopes that I might put some distance between myself and the 2 left. I believe I shot the 2nd one with the magnum 3 times at very close range and he only staggered and did not drop. I switched to my sledge while trying to dodge in between trees and took more hits. I then find the sledge is no longer as effective as it once was and ended up taking more hits before a 5th blow with the hammer knocked it down. I killed the 3rd zombie with hammer in 3 hits and climbed a nearby newstand or snackshop thing to find an mp133! I was down to 7 mosin rounds but happened to be carrying 70 shotgun shells, just in case.... I checked my health and found I was still energized and hydrated but not healing. I crouched in a building and tried to promote healing with a little extra food and water but nothing seemed to change. After a couple more minutes and no healing I decided to keep on eating to see if it would have any effect. I ate a whole box of cereal, a powdered milk, 1 can of food, 1 soda, and drank a whole canteen with neither healing nor stuffed status. I'm hoping logging back in might correct this somehow. I did also have the blurry vision stuck from getting hit as well....Yeah, so the MP5 will definitely agro any zeds that hear it. I just got swarmed by 4 in Zelengorsk, I killed three and kept on getting hit. WTH? Then I see the one of them I could not find and when I did finally find him it was too late. He was about 25 meters up the hill from me beating the ground, which, apparently was me. Passed out from blood loss then died. So the new AI is good, the speed is OK, however, the sync appears to be shit. If they are hitting me they should be where I can see them, not 25 meters away up a hill. Thank the gods I have a tent full of goodies (an Aug and a fully kitted AK74) and I was just carrying a crudey MP5.. Yeah, as soon as it matured it was rotten. :( I haven't tried growing another pumpkin since, I'll have to give it another go. Everything I've grown since has been fine but that's mostly been zucchini. Don't know why really but I'm always making garden plots, I just find it very satisfying. A crucial component of my gear is to always have a potato now. Just in case. Edited March 19, 2015 by Ebrim

Melee mostly useless against zeds, at least more than 3-4 in a group. I still think they should be 15-20% slower. they will probably polished later. Edit: invisible zombies everywhere, very iritating. Edited March 19, 2015 by igor-vk

Well, that sort of makes sense, melee against a superior number of humans would be the same. I haven't had quite so much trouble with invisible zombies, the one I met did kill me though, mostly because I still tried to fight it. :D Edited March 19, 2015 by Ebrim

They are in desync with their carachter. Zombie carachter stops or falls behind, but actualy it is hiting you. Almost all zobies tonight did that.

mustard tiger phil collins 32 Posted March 20, 2015 Anyone else finding the best way to kill zombies is with fists? They can't hit you when yer punching them and only 1-3 hits to the head there dead.
Deathlove 2286 Posted March 20, 2015 It takes two shots now to kill normal infected in the chest with a Repeater. The first shot makes them stagger for a moment than it takes a second shot to bring them down. Repeater definitely got nerfed a tad but its still a damn good weapon.
