Experimental Branch: 0.50 Discussion

Recommended Posts

As far as trolling / complaints in regards to Experimental and the banning of those go:

It's still the decision of the Moderating Team whether to suspend or ban anyone - but it's usually not a thing, as long as it's not abusive. Let's not start a witchhunt.

Not sure if this is directed at me. Or why if so.

It wasn't, just the discussion over the last few pages.

As smasht explained, it isn't directed at you. Was just a general information to calm things down. :)

Let's just all get along and please watch this vine ? ^^^^^^^ 7 up

Had an awesome time on experimental last night me and three friends tried to get a farming operation going in Svetlo and ended up meeting 3 bandits , my two cousins got killed on seperate occasions but both in Svetlo and both by different deuche bags with a shotgun ... Although both of those bandits lives ceased to exist via the business end of my bakail mp-133 , I still felt slightly annoyed because we hadn't been paying good enough attention ... But the night went on we saw plenty of respawning loot despite everyone's worries that loot only respawns in certain areas , It was respawning all over in Svetlo and we only left once for about an hour to go to novo to get one of us back after dying .. The server was also 50/50 :0!

Finally at the end of the night , one of my friend Says he's suddenly gone unconcious in one of the piano houses near the Svetlo docks .. I rush to his LKP immediately and notice a sneaky man bleeding from a zombie attack .. Not putting the pieces together right away I ask if he needs bandaging and start to walk towards him , but in the brief moments it takes to get over to him I suddenly realize this man is the reason as to why Ster comma Lau , our bandit friend, went unconcious ... The great sledgehammer the kid was wielding on his back was used to bludgeon my buddy in the back of the head .. So I decide to let him know how it feels as I sledge him with my own , twice in the dome ..

The bandit runs ,bleeding ,away from me .. He eluded us for about 15 minutes by playing hide and seek but my buddy chads "seeking" skills were far too adept as he opens one of the closed containers in the backyard of the Svetlo office buildings and reveals our sneaky bandit ... Too bad he couldn't hear the 6 rounds of 12 gauge I unloaded into all of his shitty gear he had stolen from unconcious defensless players ... To all the crappy bandits out there : don't even try , Grapefruit always gets ya ..

So all in all a great night , I slew 3 men with my trusty shotgun , all in defense of the group so I feel good about that :) .

I don't think anyone is calling for a witch hunt, I think we just feel like the trolls are being allowed to do as they please and clutter up the legitimate discussion that the rest of us are having. They seem to have free reign to shout over everyone else with no repercussions and it doesn't seem "fair". Is it ruining anything? Not really. It would just be nice not to have to wade through crap when it could just as easily be deleted or hidden by someone with the authority to do so.

To be clear: we aren't whining, it just seems like a blind eye is being turned to the problem. Isn't there some way to give these people a warning and some sort of canned response regarding the need to stay on-topic and constructive?

EDIT: Like this, except for posts instead of just flaming threads.

There is. But instead of discussing it in this thread, make use of the "Report"-button. We can't be everywhere and if you're using the report-function regularly it will be taken care of. We can't turn a blind eye on something we're not aware of. Make use of the Report-Button, make us aware of it and it will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

It is up to you to make us aware of it, as we can't be everywhere and can't read your mind to see what you think is inappropriate or offtopic. Just take the appropriate measures yourself. It starts with you reporting it. :)

Will do, sir. Hopefully it doesn't get abused :)

What will be abused? The Report-Function? Rather report more than necessary instead of reporting nothing at all.

Pump-action shotgun sucks.

Empited six rounds on a dude wearing a raincoat a meter away and he died only when I shot him in the face.

always been a one shoot killer for me. kill 2 guys with this beast, been killed once with it, never heard more than one shot (and it makes a hell of a sound !)

one round, one round is all it takes at close range.

Pump-action rocks, usually a 1-shotter within any reasonable distance. Blame it on lag, the gun did nothing wrong!

Mogilevka is the land of loot. More guns and food than anyone could ever want....sks, double barrel, pump shotty, and repeaters everywhere. NE 0-4 1pp. Apparently no one ever visits this town.

Same here. I've gotten kills at 75m+ with that thing already. Kills where my reaction was, "Wait, seriously?! I really killed him??"

Just spawned in Elektro and did a loot run heading west along the coast then up into Pusta, naturally another freshspawn spotted me with my shirt and waterproof pack, he had nothing, just a knife and tactical shirt, this being dayz, and there being no consequences for dying when you have little gear, he tried it on, aaaand I killed him with my sledge, it is nonetheless annoying having to bash every fresh spawn who spots me's head in, pls devs, pls.

I am not sure what you expect the devs to do. Do you want to have players banned for an hour each time they die?

Also, if you don't want to be chased by fresh spawns on the coast, don't run along the coast. There are fresh spawns there!

I was going to say the same thing. Developers can control the environment that players are in, but they can't control the behavior of those players.

We already had someone propose banning you from the game for 30 minutes if you die as a fresh spawn.

1] Neither am I tbh,but definitely not the 1 hour every time you die thing. 2] Hard not to when I am a freshspawn clawing his way off the coast  :D

They can however influence it, Give incentives for players to interact* with each other regardless of whether they're fresh spawns, low tier equipped or fully kitted. *in ways that don't involve blunt force trauma and/or gunshot wounds.

'Incentives' is usually where this one gets bogged down.

Is there anything stopping players from that interaction ? No ? Which means that given the choice between helping one another and killing one another they chose the latter,

Gonna interrupt the flow of the topic for a second, I'm sorry! Kinda... Anyway, has anyone else noticed the trees that used to give ashwood sticks no longer drop them? I chopped down enough to where my pristine splitting axe went to badly damaged, over 10 I believe. I have everything I need for a fishing rod, except the stick. Can anyone confirm this? The trees are the big, round ones with multiple "trunks" right?

There is very little benefit to be gained from the former at the moment, but it's safe to say Zombies and the environment as a whole will pose much more of a threat in later builds and encourage either pacifist/stealthy or outright co-operative gameplay between strangers, one can hope.

While I agree on the first part of your answer, I need to write down a comment on the last one...Dean Hill and team Bohemia have all my (ours) respect for the job they're doing and for the artistic vision of the game...but they're not "kind" and the alpha-early access is not a benign concession to the playerbase, it's a common strategy used nowadays to fund games. So, we're not guests of a benevolent patron that need to thread carefully on what we do or what we say. We're customers, and we're funding this game.

There's a line between respect, passion and helpful suggestions (what we should provide as alpha-testers/customers) and subservience, and it's not so thin. Having a "stable" and "experimental" build, for example, is not something our dear developers-friends have gifted us...it's a common strategy to perform massive server and user based tests. DayZ is not a mod, it's no more the pet project of a talented individual...it's an honest product that is going to be developed, tested, marketed and then sold worldwide.

K good point did not know that.

Lol tell me about it but I went up to gorka and the towns below it. Found 3 of the new guns pump action, reaperter, derringer. The best part about my loot run was in gorka when I found an mp5k. Another odd thing I noticed was 3 waterproof bags sitting in a field with one gun next to it. Kind of odd.
