Well, I combat logged.

Not to be stereotypical of any country but just pointing out that you can't really accuse Scotland of being weak as it's long military history shows.

Its just cracks me up when ppl get so angry and stuff in video games. Although i cannot blame some ppl really. Talking about certain things in video games is almost as bad as talking about other taboo real world issues.

Off topic: Thats true they do have a very bloody history of war like allot of other countries do.

Yeah but it's like any internet debate, We can get all sh*tty with folk because we are stuck at home and not face to face with them similar to the way people behave in cars. I can be an arse online but I'm very polite in real life maybe its catharsis?

If you're going to practice prissy gameplay, stop throwing around the fact that you're Canadian.

Fleeing from a fight you know you're not going to win isn't cowardly (as long as you stay in the game).  Escaping would give you the chance to regroup with your buddies, plan a counter-attack, or really just. y'know.  survive.   This is a survival simulator.

The only combat log i find acceptable is logging out when being attacked on all sides by invisible Zeds .I have been there and i thought about logging but i took my medicine and died to the bug ( wasnt happy about it and if i thought i could have survived logging i would have lol ).

If your going to log out when you see a player ,sorry you shouldn't really be playing this game.(glad you logged back in and took your medicine..)

There is nothing wrong with retreating. There is something wrong with taking a shot at someone, missing, then logging when they turn to aim at you (happened to me a couple of days ago. Shouldn't have logged on top of the flat factory roof, pal. I threw your Mosin and LRS into the ocean. Hope you like swimming!)

I forgot you can even throw your weapon lol. Can the bayonets even do damage yet when you throw them at living things in game? They should do something but i guess we will have to wait till the bayonets are functional overall to see if they do.

Nothing wrong with combat logging iv done it and i feel no shame. But if you find yourself in a firefight that you cant get out of try to get in a better position with a pistol or a Full Automatic. There the best for tight fights.

In a game where camping is encouraged, combat logging is unconscionable.

The only person being punished is the asshole trying to shoot me as i blow there ass away.

How can you blow anything away when you log off once shot at?

Well i guess if you didn't try to attack me in such a manner in the first place we wouldn't be going down these roads now would we? Instead of attacking me with personal insults you might have thought of a better way to vent your anger.

Well hell, can't attack you in game becaue you are okay with logging once someone shoots at you. By reading text on a forum you seem to know the posters feelings at that time, maybe you should try being a pyschic for a line of work I hear law enforcement pays pyschics well once a case is solved.

What you have stated here is completely different from combat logging and is better response to combat on the game if you aren't ready for it. I totaly agree with this style of gaming.

This whole post is actually a double edged sword. Yes it shows how much of a coward the logger is but it also shows how much of a bad shot the shooter is. If you are going to shoot at someone you make each and every shot count, this rule should become #1 in an apocolyptic setting game. Do not waste the ammo to spray and pray. Shoot to kill, most kills on sight are spray and pray killers. So all those who complain about people who combat log ... maybe you should just learn to aim better.

So...you essentially admit to Ghosting? That is, log out when shot at, move to a better position, then attack and kill the now-essentially-clueless enemy? And you think this is a good and admirable way to play?!

Shit, kids these days. Not an ounce of "honor" among them. At least live up to your death, make it worthy of song. Make them fight and bleed for your loot, not cheat at the game and talk trash on the Internet.

Nope, nice try trying to take what i said way out of proportion though lol. No i simply stand my ground and blow them away with a fully automatic.

Combat logging is pathetic. It has nothing to do with survival and trying to stay alive. Surviving an ambush or a gun fight by out smarting and out playing your opponent is surviving. Not running into a building and clicking a button in a corner. It's your fault you were in a bad situation, if you die oh well don't make the same mistake but don't take the easy way out in a game thats supposed to be hardcore by pressing logout.

This could all be easily fixed though. If a player is engaging another enemy there should be a stopping mechanism that prevents ppl from sitting down to log at all. I know in the mod if zombies are attacking you or within close proximity you cannot log. Im not sure if the same applies to player combat but im sure it could be similar.

Play YOUR game how you want. I don't log either, since it has really never been an option, but if I successfully evade an attacker I will log out if I make it at least 2km or one major terrain feature away. But it is your game, don't ever let anyone tell you how to play it.

Well until something like that is in place combat logging will continue to be a pathetic cop out by people who don't bother being careful or don't want to deal with a core part of the game.

I wouldn't really consider that combat logging, your getting a fair distance away and not just running into a room and closing the door.

LIVE.... INTERUPTABLE ....LOG OUT TIMER

Isnt it time they just gave us the ability to stop a combat log attempt. Iv had quite enough of the lazy half assed "blind" log out. IMO we need the system the mod tried to get perfect but never could because of the alt f4 issue. I say kill alt f4 ers, and give back the timer where if a shot lands close the timer restarts.

Private hives will help a lot with combat logging. OK so you logged out...well done...you still gonna drop back in in the exact same spot and with no sea of servers to disappear into your goose is cooked anyway.

Bring on a better log out system/private hives asap :)

Sound logic. Did you say this all heavy of breath to yourself as you typed it? There are certain things you don't do in DayZ, and combat logging is very near the top of the list.

DON'T COMBAT LOG. Some might think I'm being dramatic, but I don't care. I've wasted many hours of my life waiting for someone to make a mistake after pinning them down, only to find they logged out the moment they took fire. That's equivalent to the guy in the war movies that ducks and covers his head in the trench while his friend is slowly dying ten feet from him, crying for his help.

I wouldn't care if the realism was SHATTERED when it comes to combat logging by announcing that someone near you has logged out while taking fire as an admin message before striking them down with a bolt of lightning.

Don't combat log. Ever. Die with honor.

Combat logging merely shows what a poor gamer you are and is best avoided.
