September Rant Topic.

The game has had ups and downs.  Some patches really have been bad, others just plain great (as the last one on stable as per now).  Tons of new stuff, crafting, loot, hunting, fishing, weapondry, etc,.

BUT above all, the game has evolved to a more stable one.  I cannot believe how good sync is now.  4 or 5 months ago it was impossible. (rubber banding, mates dissapearing, etc)

And more important: I have seen other games related to zombies and by far, this one has the most outstanding graphics.....so go figure.

Cheers!

First of all, thanks for the first serious answer in this thread.

And no i'm not expecting it to be flawless, i realise this is (still) an alpha, but i'm just too tired of all the false promises being made.

Sure i know i'm part of the first people who play the ½ game and yes some thing needs fixing in the beginning

It's just that the ''beginning'' is a pretty long and slow one. Zombies walking through walls, loot disappearing, players randomly dying. Really?

This game has had so much time to develop, and errors in the first few days of the SA are still in it.

So we got new zombie skins! Who cares if they're walking through the entire bloody building ignoring walls, stairs etc?!

I wasn't going to reply to your thread, but this post got me going. As a coder/programmer you think 10 months is a lot of time to develop a game of this magnitude? Don't make me laugh. This game came out last year in December and they've come a long way. I'm not fan boying, but you have to realize and do the research before you spout nonsense. Coding takes time and lots of it. There are many stages to coding. Design, code, implementation, bug identification, debuging, etc...There is a lot of things that are going on behind the scenes that you as a player don't see. It's a lot of hard work and long hours to give you what you see today. So please do your due diligence and research before you speak. My 2 cents.

OK.  I will accept that everything is fine and normal.    I will say that literally 5 minutes ago I was on a full server and I just experienced the new fucking hack where everyone is teleported to a lake as a naked spawn.   (and we just read about this new hack yesterday)

So the alpha is pretty much screwed right now unless there is a patch that stops this hack soon.  It literally ruins all 40 people's game instantly.

Seems like a hell of a party you had there at the lake.....too much tequila.

LOL.  Well as pissed as I was.  It was kind of funny to hear other players near me saying... "what the fuck"  then someone typed.... "hacker again".

And people were all black female characters in underwear.  They are not all AI.   I could hear people talking on their mic to me.

the only good news is that it does not kill your real character.  When you exit the game, you still have your original character.

But the server renters/admins are extremely pissed off about this new hack.

I guess the ''easily butthurt'' warning didn't really get through.

I'm just wondering how in the world you guys can play a buggy game like this and enjoy it.

The communication to the players is the worst i've seen in any game. The ''improvements'' is just as much a screw-up as the whole game (yeah let's throw in ragdoll, great idea!)

The most basic, fundamental aspects of the game, like movement, picking stuff up, looking around, is still broken.

we're talking about 3,5 years of development!!!!

That is insane!

I agree with you on time taken to make this game is ridiculous, however its shaping up to be an awesome game, nothing comes close to it. So its probably better to give this game a break and come back next year. Im enjoying 7d2d at the moment and occasionally play dayz

The game now, almost a year after it's release hasn't even come close to what was capable in the mod.

The game hasn't been released yet.

Also, it's done a whole ton of things that were literally impossible to do in the mod.  Can you take off your shoes in the mod? no? Okay.  That's not sarcasm, if you can't extrapolate all the other improvements from there, then there's no helping you.

Yeah the mod doesn't have to focus on any engine/backend stuff at all. And that stuff is the major focus of Alpha right now.

I remember this from the mod. The key is to go prone!

Cry me a river kid, and by the way as another poster said, "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." You wont be missed as we have cry babies aplenty just like you in this neck of the woods.

*snip*

Now they've promised us at the release of the game (that release that has been prosponed for over a year) that it would offer the same options as the mod and from there the game would steadily improve.

The game now, almost a year after it's release hasn't even come close to what was capable in the mod.

*snip*

Wait!

They released DayZ standalone and I'm still playing the Alpha version!!

Quick, someone tell me where I can get the finished version of DayZ!!!

What's that you say....there are many examples of great games taking 5+ years to develop?

The only one butthurt here is the OP who is obviously one of the massively self entitled idiots the few half attentive people on thios planet have to put up with.

Go back to sleep baby boy.

if you´re easily butthurt. leave now.

I dunno, just sounds like you need some ointment for your butthurt and maybe some cheese to go with your wine... especially because you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about nor any clue what an early alpha is nor how to read up on the roadmap and status. You'd be better off purchasing a game in full release and not trying to participate in an early access alpha.

I thought the last few updates have actually been going fairly fast. We got fairly large chunks of the game like hunting, the start of the zombie fixes, melee fixes, the start of item persistence, the start of the advanced weather effects and so on. Really the only thing we have left is building and vehicles tell it has as much as the mod. All the bugs are here due to it being a fucking alpha so shut the fuck up,read the disclaimers and come back in a year when the game is farther along if your to immature to deal with a playable alpha.

the game as been out for year? did the OP time travel to the future and didnt bring a copy for us? shame on you. serious though why the heck ppl are thinking that game this big takes 6 months to get rdy?

dont count the mod in, since it was just a mod. using another game as a base for it. ppl forget this, if had passed 2 years since SA came out then i would be pissed.

I kinda' agree and kinda' disagree. There has been a lot of progress made on the game but it has all been shit like server-side physics, ragdoll, hunting, fishing, cooking, ugly clothes that are not even used and other shit that I really don't care about when they could have added item persistence, faction identification and barricading. Real (basic) features that change gameplay in a major way.

So, I do feel their priorities are wrong but it isn't my game sooo... eh.

The thing this being an alpha doesn't change anything. We were still given expected results. It's like they weren't working day and night on the game that millions of people bought. It's like they'll fix the game if they feel like it.

It kinda does change everything.

One could or should expect what was promised by the Alpha warning we received at every step of acquiring this wip game. In reality what is happening is the over expectations that people are putting on this wip game, who clearly can't read the warnings, haven't an idea what an Alpha is or just flat refuse to acknowledge DayZ is a wip alpha state game. That's the problem.

He is probably referring to the fact that dates/milestones that are repeatedly missed. The alpha status of a game has nothing to do with project management and broken deadlines.

I have begun to accept that the development cycle is consistent with any other alpha build and have moved towards being bitter that they used our goodwill from the mod to purchase something unplayable. But we get what we deserve. We were told its alpha, but most of us having never participated in an alpha build of anything outside of Linux programs felt it would be something other than what it is. But it is what it should be, we are foolish for having expected more.

I DONT GET PEOPLE THAT KEEP SAYING ALPHA!!! They are like parotts reapeating that alpha warning for close to a year now. I can see them IN 2015 KEEP SAYING THE SAME THING.

Ever heard of deadlines?

Welp..."facepalm friday" came early. :(

I dont care if they miss a Deadline that has been set internaly. Sometimes things take time.

Too bad there wasent a "common sense" test before buying this. I guess "DONT BUY THIS GAME.." everywhere until checkout in steam wasent enough for some of the low Flyers...

Ever heard of deadlines?

9 months isent alot of development time...given most Major titels Need 2-3 Years...gah you ranters are so boring...sososoos repetitive and boring...
