Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Recommended Posts

I understand that fanboys absolutely LOVE this game,I do too (bought a new PC just to run DayZ better), but for the love of god. Stop telling yourself that a game called DAYZ with emphasis on the "Z" does not have main focus on the ZOMBIES!

.

DayZ = DayZero, not DayZombie.

Edit: I was too slow...

they just need to fix network synch for them imho. I'm beyond sick of phantom punches, punched thru wall/floor, etc. If any of that rubbish makes it past Alpha that's pretty much game ruined imho. I don't care about balance, or frames, or anything else if I'm going to get Mike-Tyson'd thru a freaking brick wall.

Have the DEVs completely forgot that this is a ZOMBIE survival game and not just a SURVIVAL game?

Did you really write this sentence in a post that Is basically about "I want the zombies to be trivial to get rid off"? So what do you want? A zombie survival where zombies pose an actual threat? Or just a survival game that happens to feature some easily dispatchable zombies?

Problem I experience with zombies is when I try to melee them. When you try to hit them in the head with a melee weapon and they are walling at you with their arms at a very high rate, their head is moving all the time, making head melee hits very difficult to land. Not to mention if you miss, they get at least somewhere between 2 to 3 hits in before you can swing your melee weapon a second time.

I can't understand why they didn't take Zombies from alfa till they made good AI for them. Thise lagging frizzing creatures are freaking me out more then perfomance problems.

In my opinion, the infected should be extremly dangerous and not just some annoyance you have to deal with while you farm for gear (which is the case in some other games). Smaller melee weapons would be useless against a frenzied infected person throwing himself at you, and should only be used as a last resort or defense against other players early in the game. Bigger melee weapons on the other hand, like the axe or pick axe, should down an infected in a hit or two, provided you time the swing right. I would like to see a system where timing is eveything; if an infected is charging you, you need to raise the axe and time the swing or else he will be all over you. In that scenario, one infected wouldn't be that dangerous after some practice, while 4-5 infected at once would be almost impossible to defeat as they grab you from behind or throw you to the ground. That would be cool, and realistic, I think.

For the love of God, please fix the horrible fighting mechanics when facing zombies!

Have the DEVs completely forgot that this is a ZOMBIE survival game and not just a SURVIVAL game?  It is impossible to kill zombies within reason.  Just the complete hand  weapon combat needs soooo much work. I could really care less about the new items yall are placing into the game.  I want to be able to go into a town and kill some zombies while I am there.  Not run from them every time one comes after me because they beat you unconscious.  One around 2 weapons will kill a zombie with 2-3 blows, other than that you better run. You might as well remove them because the mechanics are complete broke.  Very frustrating to play.

Again, please get back to the main focus on the game which is ZOMBIES.  I love the game in almost every direction that you guys are going, except for the fact that the game has been out over a year and the Zombie combat is still 100% broken.

Please if anyone else feels the same, speak up so we can get this addressed.

erm... the zombies are in a pretty good state imo, they SHOULDN'T be easy to kill without taking damage, go and outsmart them instead, lock them in houses, lose them around a few corners, shoot them with a .22, there is so much you can do...

the last thing we need is easier zombies

imagine a drugged homeless guy (no offense) would try to strangle you, do you think you could beat him down without him being able to lay a hand on you?

That individual zombies should be a threat if you are not properly armed seems perfectly straightforward to me. It sounds to me like OP is imagining something like slow walkers from TWD, where the individual zombie is not a threat, but that they only pose a threat when in large numbers in cramped surroundings, something which the zombies in the game are not and probably never will be. The most useful strategy if you do not have a high quality melee weapon is to lock zombies inside buildings, you should not be able to just casually kill them without having the proper tools to do so.

That being said, they are buggy at times, but it seems to me that it mostly is in connection with desync and lag, something which we will probably not see the end off until the proper optimisation phase in beta. That is just the way it is, but I would much rather have them in the game, functioning albeit slightly buggy, than have them removed altogether. They do have a significant impact on gameplay when they appear in numbers as they currently do (especially in exp) and are not just random props to be casually disposed of as they mostly are in TWD.

These are infected LIVING people, not undead walking corpses.

Everything you see in DayZ ALPHA is going to change drastically and in ways many of you may not like.

Very little of what you are testing right now is the final version we will see in 1.0.

The whole melee system is just really bad at the moment (has always been), and I dont understand why so many people assume that we want to have it easier when we complain about it? It can be difficult, but it should not suck ass like it does now.

I get the feeling that some people like to have a really bad and broken game, just because that makes the game hard aswell.. Here is a secret: there are good AND hard games...

With a baseball bat? Hell yeah. With big pipe or wrench? Yeah.

To be fair, I was going to ignore this thread, but OP did capitalize "RESOLVED" and included "For the love of God," so you know he means business.

Now assume said homeless person is rabid and not really feeling any pain you inflict...

Did a full train of (5)elektro zombs yday, knocked them all out with my fists before i started to bleed.

they are easy to kite and they drop in second punch.

Also if you run long enough you can almost swag walk and they wont catch you even if u wait for them.

It's like they deplete their stamina or something.

I know they're still a work in progress but it's frustrating when you dodge them and they're swinging at a bush behind you yet still manage to land punches on you. I know part of that is desync and part of it is the new wonky animations. I tolerate it because they're still not really much of a threat and also I know it's going to be changed at some point. Also if you're in a town running through a few houses or apartments and closing a few doors is a simple way to escape them... also shutting a door to lock them in a house or something is easy and fun for the next person who tries to enter!

I see people talking about how optimization efforts will help fix Player v Player lag, won't that also fix the "Z"s lag as well?

I really do like the way the Zs are more evenly distributed around the map now. A couple of patches ago, the NW bus garage and the far northwest towns never had zombies. Pre 0.57 nor did the Myshkino tents. Sometimes there are none, but I prefer to be kept on my toes...

Ever since the latest patch there has been a shortage of Zombies in villages and small towns and adjacent areas. I know they intended to redistribute Zombies and put the bulk of them in larger cities and towns but these days It can get mighty boring traveling in the outer areas. IMHO Every Village and Town on the entire map should be infested with Zombies to keep things interesting and bring on those wild dogs and bears as well.

Aye. For me .57 is one of the better builds I've played but aside from the still too easy survival part, a disappointment is the lack of zombies.

They "disabled" zombies for .57 to work on performance issues...server lag etc...until we get rid of the legacy placeholder loot system for good, survival will always be easy. We need to wait for the return of persistence. Right now its loot, loot, pew, pew = kindergarden candyland gameplay. Can't wait for the next experimental.

Lots of testers "involved" in this process don't care to stay in the loop it seems.

Makes for pointless threads.

Meh.

Zombies were originally not going to be in this build at all. They ended up leaving a few in there for us. Eventually we will see zombies everywhere, but they identified some bugs in the AI code during the last round of Experimental builds. The AI was eating server resources to a higher degree than it should have.
