Is this even a game at this point?

https://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/half-minute-halo-an-interview-with-jaime-griesemer/ Fun must always be present, if the game is not fun, it has no business existing.

Is this even a game at this point?

Dayz Standalone 0.63 is pathetic. Let attempt to explain why. Wool coats and track suites everywhere. Why? Who in their right mind would pick a wool coat or track suite over their starting equipment? It's super frustrating to find those items in 5 out of 10 houses (then 4 out of 10 are empty). The loot economy is terrible, it is frustrating to walk from house to house and not find useful items. Even more frustrating to walk from house to house and find spawn points taken up by people switching their gear with what they've found. Most important item you can desire is water bottle and a backpack to store water bottle. Forget about making your own backpack out of burlap sack, finding rope is nearly impossible! Chances are, you will find a school or waterproof backpack before you find rope. Hunger & thirst is super annoying. The moment you wake up, your thirst is already in yellow, run a little around and it will quickly get into red, at which point you begin losing health. The icon design and functionality is *insert bad language* terrible. It provides you no useful status update aside from "YOUR THIRST IS GOING DOWN RAPIDLY". Oh really? I *insert bad language* know it because I am *insert bad language* sprinting! I'd rather know how much I have left before I begin losing health then "thirst is dropping less rapidly". I cant believe I miss the old style text in the left corner status updates. Stamina system is probably the worst offender. I understand why we need stamina system, but the way its done, just *insert bad language* kill me. You need stuff to survive, the more stuff you have, the better are your chances of survival. If you are planing a trip to the north, you better stack up on those water bottles boy. Or pop up a map in your web browser and plan a route that takes you through water sources. Looting is very punishing, I happened across a ballistic west and was like "yay", finally a useful item. Put it on and now I can't sprint anymore because it weights 14 *insert bad language* kilos, even more then my full backpack! Let me round this off by asking a simple question, where is the game play loop in Dayz? What is it even supposed to look like? Do you think that going from house to house is fun, that listening to your character wheeze as he/she is trying to catch breath is fun? Do you perhaps think wool coats and track suites are fashionable again? Do you think that occasional joust with zombies is fun while they flail wildly with their limbs? Do you perhaps like being alone for prolonged period of time because none of the players will attempt to interact with you unless it involves punching, stabbing or shooting? Do you really think that we need DayZ standalone anymore?

    Character customization?

    Probably not.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

We use containers to help us organise our bags. In real life we put socks and underwear into separated bags and put our bathroom stuff into a special bag to keep everything neat and tidy. If we just tossed everything into a suitcase, without containers, we would get more value out of available space, that's for sure. But that is not in human nature, we like our shit properly organised, we like having control over that. This is not an issue in dayz, we got user interface that help us organise everything however we like. So the need for a container is significantly diminished, both first aid, protector containers and ammo boxes have little to no value when it comes to organising your inventory. I would go as far as to claim that they obstruct fluent use of inventory UI by forcing you to take extra actions to view their content. Taking realism out of the question for now, what is the purpose of storage containers? Cooking pot can store items and water at the same item, so that one is obviously useful. Protector container? Only useful in keeping your items from being ruined when you get shot at or handing those items over to the people who shot you? Ammo box? Not like you can store more ammo in it than thing. Water proof bag? Yet, its a thing that keeps your stuff dry, given it is actually working. First aid kit? I might as well put my medical supplies into a cooking pot, put the pot into my pants and have 2 slots to spare.

    32 vs. 64...

Fair enough, not using exp atm and 0.60 is 32 bit as far my knowledge goes. For starters, 1 bit can be either 0 or 1. A 32 bit application can run on a 64 bit cpu, while a 64 bit application cant run on 32 bit cpu. CPU does not care if application is 32bit or 64, it will process everything in the same way. But in case of 32 bit, it will fill out remaining 32 bits with 0. Think of a road that got two lanes in the same direction, if you are only allowed to use a single lane during morning rush, there will be hell. Using both lanes you may be able to process all of traffic in a timely manner. Same logic can be applied to 32bit vs 64bit applications, using 32bit application on 64bit CPU is like cramming all of morning rush traffic into single lane. In other words, 32bit application will require significantly greater amount of operations from CPU compared to 64bit application when it comes to handling equal amounts of data. Now that is only the bits stuff, they could have made changes to how game handles multi-threading and utilising your CPU cores. But I let more knowledgeable people comment on that matter :)

Dayz is still a 32 bit game.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

Books take up 1 inventory slot, contain several sheets of paper. One piece of paper takes up 1 inventory slot. Magic is already in the game and the name is POCKETS. Do you have problem with magic pockets?

    Coordinates on client

You will most likely not find coordinates in a file. Writing coordinates to disk when they update frequently is a bit of a stupid move as it will put unnecessary strain on your hard disk. Try using cheat engine to locate their address in memory and then extract it with Python.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

No, I've had enough of playing tetris with my own inventory. Having 2 extra medical slots for first aid kit will make it a useful item again.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

No, it must be fixed so containers cant be put inside other containers and first aid kit must have 6 slots.
  12. Quantity over quality. That is the real problem. It matters not if you are in Tisy or Pavlovo. The quality of the loot stays the same, so the only way to increase chances of finding high end loot is to increase the quantity of spawns by travelling to myshkino or NWAF.

Then it simply must be forbidden.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

Because its an item specialised to hold certain type of supplies. Also, depending on how you view it, there is no point in having it around. The only "use" I can see for first aid kit right now is to keep your inventory tidy. The only use I can see for Small Protector Case is to let enemies have some "undamaged" items after they shot and killed you.

    First Aid Kit storage capacity

So I understand that from 0.57 medical kit got its capacity reduced to 4 slots (2x2). Previously I would look to obtain one because it allowed me to carry more medical stuff. But now I feel its kinda pointless to have. Should it be returned to store medical items only and have capacity of 6 slots (3x2) like it used to do or are people fine with it the way it is?
