Actually, they were going to add transition animations, but that would have made movement and shooting not clunky.

 As long as we can turn that 'Days of our Lives' Bloom off ...then they can lather that shit everywhere ArmA

The game feels really drab without it, and the yellowish grass looks like shit because...because it's drab and bright. And everything deegisio  says contradicts how I feel, so I feel inclined to make a threatening and badass one liner directed torwards him.

The bayonet does look nice doesn't it? I like the sneak peek we have had into the new weapon system.

 

I wonder if it will be implemented for HMG's/LMG's/Mortars etc?

Also, the bolt carrier on the M4 is visibly moving with each round...is that new?

God damn, is it me or does the game look as good as ArmA 3? Yeah, lighting and texture quality are an A+ in my book. As much as the ArmA elitists hate it, bloom is good. It makes people like the game. So lather that bitch in bloom, lather it. Lather it so I don't need post processing to get bloom. Oh, and the M4 texture looks nice but that sight is pretty low poly. About as low poly as most current A2 sights. The animations add some variety and appeal, but they're only so much better than ArmA 2. Oh, and THANK YOU GOD, JESUS, CTHULU AND ROCKET FOR THE NEW HANDS. YOU MADE THEM LOOK DECENT? WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO HATES ARMA 2'S HANDS? Why isn't anyone complaining, why? God, I need to lay off the 5 hour energy.

 

low poly indeed, but the lighting in  arma 3 is way better, play dayz on arma 3 to see =D

i wonder which purpose drawing on label may can have...?

I was wondering that too.  Maybe different antibiotics, meds etc will be able to be found individually and it'll be up to us as the player to figure out the different drugs/pills available and their uses.  Once you've figured out the use for a particular drug you can stick it in a jar and label it.

 

Something like this would mean organised medic clans would have a big advantage over (or become very useful too) players not willing/prepared to take the time to figure it out.

 

I guess you could also put false labels on things to get some sweet revenge on anyone that kills you and tries to use your meds.

if this will be the case, the game certainly will piss many ppl off due to the micromanaging aspect...I LOVE IT!. It may be even possible that you can craft all sort of things cook all sort of meals and put them in whatever "container" you have, you would need labels for that container

After reviewing this blog again, I am seeing and hearing some things that would be considered crap.

 

Firstly, rocket stated that wepons could be considerd levels. This will make the game crap. ALL Weapons have certain advantages and disadvantages, so there should be no clearly defined levels for guns. To say that there exists some better weapon that will automatically trump a previously owned weapon is absurd.

 

Advantages/disadvantages over for example: revolvers vs semi-auto handguns, repeater shotguns vs. bolt actions, automatic rifles vs. double barrel shotguns should be incorporated into the game, as it is a key reason why there are still so many variations of old, yet fine weaponry out there for people to choose from, and most of it has to do with the functionality that the user would like to exploit from that gun. If the current DayZ concept of 'gun levels were true', then there would have long been designed a gun to render all others obsolete. Clearly, this is not the case. Currently, even though you do have a variety of weapons to choose from in DayZ, there is nothing really to set one rifle apart from the other, other than the fact that one fires multiple timess, whereas the other does not. This is BORING and childish!!

 

You don't just design an authentic weapon model forDayZ by designing moving parts for it, and maybe tweeking with the detail. You start with the internal functionality, right down to the level of the type of ammunition it uses. Any less and it is all one big farce.

 

Secondly, where are all the blood and poop stains that go on the inside walls of building?? I am tired of seeing pristine hotel rooms in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

 

Lastly, if beans sound crunchy or have a crunchy texture when you munch on them, then maybe you shouldn't be etating them unless you desire a serious 'bout of the shittings... just a thought.

I think you missunderstood Dean a little bit, because he did a parable between weapons and levels. What he actually ment was that a good weapon is like having a higher level in comparison with a crapy weapon wich basically makes you to a lowbie. There wouldn't be any lvling system on a weapon or such. That would ruin the whole concept in my opinion.

So are you saying it is more like say, a butter knife verses an axe, then? If so then this is acceptable commonsense. The question is, how will one be able to explain why newbies tend to find the crappiest of weapons first instead of good ones... Bad luck?

 

I cannot stress enough however, that categories of guns must be designed from the inside out, each one having distinguishing features in terms of their action, range, power, spread, caliber, weight and handling. In essence, a class system must go into designing weapons for use, similar to how class systems for players worked in past games. And there must be sufficient difference in these classes such that the player identifies these differences immediately. This is not the case in the current DayZ dispensation. Here, you can only tell the difference between an AK and an M4 by appearance and maybe sound... how boring is this, especially when you consider that these two weapons are worlds apart?

Yap Rocket always stated that progress (levelling) in the game will be made by getting better gear (weapons) ..

 

For the blood and poop stains...they can't do unique interiors for every single house, so if they would create for example a bloody slaughterhouse interior for let's say the small yellow farmhouse...all small yellow farm houses in the game would have this bloody slaughterhouse interiors, which would be very boring pretty soon. But in this case I see a lot of potential for modding. For example a nice mod would be making interiors special and unique...just my thoughts
