Why do you chose Dayz over Origins

Recommended Posts

Hello. So I've been wondering, why a lot of players chose Dayz regular over Dayz Origins. I mean, just look, Dayz origins have houses, vehicle modding, other nice features, like salvation island, there are a lot more activities, and houses, are just a good way to store items, I mean, I haven't played dayz regular for long, but where do you all store your items, in Origins, you can build a house and keep them safe there, but Dayz, you can't have a house, so what's left? Tents? I don't know, if you could lead me to the point about saving loot, would be great. So yeah, Origins has a lot of nice features. Why would players chose vanilla dayz over that?

Some people just like vanilla over other mods, i like origins dont get me wrong but its also very broken, i hate the humanity system on there on vanilla its "Hero Vs Bandits" but on Origins IMO its "Red Vs Blue", Hero's and bandits act exactly the same, and why? because points, as soon as you make killing someone beneficial in someway besides gathering there gear, the game slowly turns into a death-match, sure hero's wont shoot hero's. but they shoot everything els, ive been a fresh spawn bandit (dropped my starting pistol) and been mowed down by Lvl 2 hero's because im worth points to them while asking for help, so the reason i prefer Vanilla is it doesn't have this "Red Vs Blue" attitude.

Principle :P

Origins are money grabbing whores who can all fuck of and die :D

All of these features you mention we done using stolen code with no credit to the original authors, Origins is the ONLY mod that makes money, every other mod was made for free by the community, for the community.

Its the same question as :

- why do people drink pepsi if coca cola tastes better ?...

- why do people buy apple products if samsung is cheaper and better ?...

- Why u prefere AMD over Intel ?...

its a matter of taste ;)

But just tell me one thing about vanilla dayz, where do you store your loot? House system is most likely awesome in origins, one of the reasons I choose origins, but Dayz vanilla, I just don't see any point at gathering better loot, as if you store it in a tent, anyone can take it.

explain how the hell you would have time (and want) to build a house during the zombie apocalypse?

Houses removes another challenge. All gear is supposed to be vulnerable. Its a risk needed to be taken. Origins seems to make the game look more casual.

"Nothing is safe, everything is permitted" ;)

I found that having camps on a popular server for 2 months with no one finding them is waaaaaaaaay more satisfying than building a house in origins.

I think Origins has made some great additions to DayZ. I also think they've completely misunderstood what it is many of us enjoy about DayZ. That's pretty apparent by the fact they've added NPC's and magical loot storage.

There is also the whole "thing" about them being the only mod that makes money from DayZ whilst the DayZ community devs themselves such as Razor work for free and then there's the using code without permission issues and so on (which has broken a tradition modders of Arma games have had for a decade) but it's probably better I don't get involved in that.

INB4 the Origins devs PM me a copy/pasted legal notification from the interwebz about my slander and force me to remove this message

As I don't dabble in politics, I will just go with I'm not a fan of origins.

I don't even like tent storage because that removes the "permadeath" because you can gear up quickly.

You wouldn't build a house during the apocalypse, but you would certainly have one where you can store your gear and sleep. Think I Am Legend. Because you can't fortify any current houses in Arma, Origins have allowed players to build their own. Having a house during a 'zombie apocalypse' is NOT a crazy idea, lmao.

Personally, I just enjoy the vanilla mod. No need to add to it. Do not get me wrong, I have seen a lot of the mods for DayZ and they really are amazing. It's just not my cup of tea. =)

If you like vanilla DayZ, you should play dayzero... Much more balanced than other mods.

I for one do not like most of the other mods because of "big" changes they have made, some have the ability to build houses, build vehicles, become a zombie and many of the mods and dayz included have weapons that are just imbalanced and overpowered, feels like i.e. breaking point just randomly chose arma 2 weapons.

Dayzero haven't added big changes, just refined the original DayZ experience.

Because it isn't dayz. Magic houses that can't be looted, zombies that need 50 shots to the head. Crappy npcs.

And that is even before we get into the issue of them modifying dayz and packaging it up as their own game and making money out of it.

Apart from that, yeah it is brilliant.

Because it offers a completely different gameplay experience and the devs compilers are douchebags.

I play DayZ for an immersive survival experience based around scavenging, going from dirt poor to a deadly bushman who'll transfuse you without you even knowing it and then scamper off like a ninja.

While I haven't played Origins too much, I didn't feel as if it was the apocalypse as much as it was turf wars. Every city had a base of some sort, many of which weren't lootable.

Personally I hate Tavianna. When I played it, you walked through cities with 50 floor apartment complexes and only 1 floor that you could loot.

OP: The question should be, assuming you are an Origins fan, why would you even hint at trying to make a case to get more DayZ guys on Origins? Don't even act like you haven't noticed the gameplay difference when that happens.

I ain't gonna say too much.
