Found a DayZ public hive with AI players

AI players is an interesting concept, regardless of whether this video is legit. For public servers, I'm not sure I'd like it, but for private hives I'm all for it. It'd add some ambiance, that's for sure.

Haha, no. Unless you know the person, or have means to communicate with them before you two bump into one another, you're going to either get shot or shoot at him. Nobody in their right mind on this patch would just let someone with loot they could potentially need just slip by, not unless you hide and hope the player just moves on or are cool enough in that situation to try and make conversation while they have their gun pointed at you or where you're hiding. Cooperation exists when you can both benefit from each other. When loot is rare enough to find on your own, sharing it will not benefit anyone. Edit: Especially, antibiotics.

I have to agree on some points mentioned, especially the fact that most people - or at least, just myself - are frustrated with zombies breaking immersion by being more annoying than they are threatening. On top of this, I'm having a hard time as it is to find good loot and survive the onslaught of ultra sensitive and wall-walking zombies, I can't imagine anyone seeing another player and immediately deciding to try and group up or help them. Every player I've met so far are out for blood and beans... Not to say this wasn't always the case, but the ratio of legitimately helpful players to murderous bandits has severely become one sided from what I can see. But yes, my point is, considering how broken PvE is with everything that's wrong with it, going to a low population server to get immersed is a rather hard task, I find myself just getting pissed at the broken mechanics making my gameplay more of a dice roll than actual survival. "LET'S SEE HOW MANY ZOMBIES INSTANTLY SEE YOU THIS TIME." *Rolls a dice* "LOOKS LIKE EVERY-FUCKING-ONE."

I had a legitimately hard time following your post but let me rephrase my earlier one; Calling others 'cod kiddies' and frowning at the game receiving more attention from the mainstream is an elitist character trait. Same goes for clans who are created solely to PvP fresh spawns or other clans because they believe they are superior. -And yes, many of the people who hate DM wind up joining or creating clans/servers/teams that end up DM'ing as well. It's called being hypocritical, or projecting their frustration onto others. Funny how things work, isn't it?

    Pistol damage is STILL broken

Hahaha, headshots. Good luck with that. Unless you funnel the zombies in one of the long barns, you're going to have a bad time trying to pull off a series of effective headshots with the twitchy animation zombies have. If you're outside, god help you. The only reliable way to kill zombies anymore is with an axe.

    DayZ Standalone Suggestion: zombies

I see many problems with this, but I love the idea, I really do. In fiction, zombies usually try to break down the doors that stand in their way, but in DayZ they open it and on some occasions are polite enough to close them too. I would love to be in a scenario where I have very limited ammunition and a bag full of food, having to wait for someone to hopefully come and give me a hand before I either starve to death or the zombies manage to get in.

If I recall correctly, DayZ was made to be about the threat of zombies and players alike. So, from day one, players killing players was a frequent event and was to be expected if you entered a populated server. I would know, I've been through it, hence why I stick to low population servers when I want to relax and play against the environment. Also, DayZ has been 'mainstream' for quite some time, if anything it's just grown in popularity simply because the new DayZ has attracted old players and new players alike with the promise of a new and more stable game based on the mod itself. I also find it funny that you're blaming 'cod kiddies'. It shows how elitist you are, and elitism is what sprouted many of the clans that exist solely to DM on public/private hives. So, in a way, you are one of said cod kiddies.

    [SA suggestion] Hiding places

Moving furniture around would definitely help the whole barricading a house concept but like icrush said, I doubt the engine will allow it. As for hiding in furniture, that shouldn't be too complicated to code; if they wanted an easy way to do it, it would basically consist of making stationary vehicles with props instead of actual vehicles as their model. The player can climb into it, just like they would in a car.

[DZwT] Hero Captured (me) for Bandit Quiz!

I have to say that this kind of stuff is what attracted me to DayZ. I love people who get into the role of their characters, act like actual bandits or heroes instead of psychotic murderers.

    [SA suggestion] Hiding places

I do like the idea of zombies being able to attack or even drag a player out of their hiding spot if they hid themselves while still in the zombie's line of sight, but I'm pretty sure the zombies would then always see you with how aggro-happy they are, and then hiding would become a gamble more than anything. I do however very much like the idea of hiding in dumpsters, closets and beds aren't the only thing out there that one can use to hide themselves. Hell, it can even borrow some aspects from Assassin's Creed and have the player jump into a bail of hay in one of the barns to hide themselves. As for players looking for players, I'm sure that would this be implemented that there'll be some form of counter to this such as pulling players out of their hiding spot or out right shooting into it.

    Get rid of chernarus.

I think it'd be quite nice to have accurate seasons along side accurate time zones. If anyone is obsessive about wanting to play on a summer version of the map during winter, I'm sure there'll be servers with inverted seasons.
  12. I've mentioned this lightly yesterday, but I'm honestly curious as to the community's opinion on it. What do you guys think about hiding places, furniture and entities that can be used to hide the player from zombies and possibly even other players. Seeing as zombies can now run indoors, I think it'd be a good idea to implement a way to safely lose them without having to zig zag through multiple buildings in town, instead, just hide in a closet until they shamble away, or crawl under a bed. Personally, I think that considering how things have changed so drastically with the zombies now being somewhat more of a threat - regardless of how much damage they initially dish out, this would be a welcomed addition. I'd love to actually lose the zombies through means that isn't just RUN-RUN-RUN-RUN. But yeah, the point of this thread is just to suggest the idea and get some feedback. What do you think?

[SA] DayZ SA Motions must be changed.

One-hand an M16, like a boss. But on a serious note, I'm worried about how easy it seems to be to get hit. While zombies currently need to stand still and attack, in the SA they seem to be able to attack while running. If they do 3k damage like in earlier patches, this'll be baaaaad. Difficult, not impossible, but unfairly so. Gotta' give the players a chance, y'know?

I rarely keep up with the changelogs for each patch, at least not anymore. But seeing as you've raised a good point, I have to ask, what about 1.7.7 and 1.7.7.1 exactly is different in terms of aggro and sickness? All I've been hearing and experiencing is frequent illnesses and ridiculously sensitive zombies that'll hunt me down from across town if I so much as enter a building, prone or not.

I'd like to point out that there is in fact a difference between difficulty and player-impairing bugs. Zombies that can detect you unfairly doesn't make the game hardcore, it makes it broken. The difficulty no longer lies in sneaking past zombies as much as exploiting their broken AI. We've all seen videos of people running through Cherno without pulling aggro, and we've all seen the exact opposite happen where a player being careful manages to get chewed on by every zombie within a ridiculous range. It's not fun when the difficulty lies in an unstable AI with spastic animations and pathing.
