What you guys think about the new update?

Recommended Posts

Grammar -1

Defering to 'you fail grammar arguments' before i had even finished editing, good stuff . Just Rotts roundabout way of doing nothing constructive.

havent noticed any diffrenece.

You guys sure there has been an update?

According to 1.7 patch detractors common logic dictates that you should have starved or died by an infection from a zombie passing through the opposite side of Cherno. You havn't been bounced around a swarm of zombies like a ping pong ball (because you thought from prior experience that you could sprint through hundreds of zombies without a scratch) What about loot? Didn't find a tin can after three hours of searching? Apparatnly to find a can you need 6. Maybe you just adapted your gamestyle by reading the change log or are you sure you patched!? The difference is palpable. Havn't you noticed the higher levels of rage than usual?

Ive been playing on 40-50 player servers and had no trouble finding enough food, Its certainly rarer but i'd say to a degree that actually makes you worry about where your next tin of beans is going to come from, no more.

and thats how it should be i'd say.

One problem that did come up in testing was that if a player was using the wrong arma2 beta patch it was causing loot not to spawn in and even if you have the correct patch there could be another player in that area causing no loot for anyone near them.

The required patch is 103718

Point. I accidentaly discovered a Makarov which was invisible. I couldn't see it but I had it on the crosshair.

Maybe some people who don't find anything usefull have a BETA patch problem? Awesome catch, if this is true.

Edit

My patch version is 105785 and I have an invisible Makarov to confirm and on video.

I can load it up to youtube if needed, would just need a bit of time.

Edit

Nope, nonsense, watched the video more closely and the Makarov was there, just almost impossible to see with the NVG.

There is a screenshot:

I dunno, I found one of them industrial warehouses east of Elektro with 20 zombies in it, most of them stuck underground, spinning in circles and somehow launching themselves trough the wall to their deaths. I thought someone was killing zombies with a melee weapon until I went inside and looked. Mother of god.

Oh and I also found some "wet playing cards"

And I see a lot of complains about the "knockdown" thing, it only happened to me once. I tried sprinting trough the zombie sausagefest in the warehouse and thought I went unconscious, but it was the knockdown thingy.

make mod so disgusting that peeps will flock to SA... sounds legit!!!

That was exactly what i had in mind

Flock too non existent SA? If you read anything from E3 you would see that more of this type of thing is in store for you and then some...zombies running in buildings, jumping/vaulting leaping zombies, more broken bones, equally scare loot for exmaple...imagaine the rage then! Ahh more salty tears to drink. Get out now while you can.

Every post of yours in this thread is incredibly annoying. We get it, you are super leet and your opinion is the only one that matters.

The Standalone is different and should go back to the roots with a better system, less glitches, better zombies, and hopefully more to do than just kill people. I played the patch last night for a couple of hours and while I did not hate it I do understand some of the complaints. Zombies have always been broken and that is not going to change in the mod and just adding more glitches is more annoying than difficult. I died once to them when I first started playing but after that is was not that difficult to deal with them, just annoying. I also am fine with lower levels of loot but like others have stated there has to be balance. In a full server things are picked clean to the point that it seems like the only way to get any items is to take them from zombies or other survivors. Having an honest discussion about loot availability does not make someone a noob, acting like a prick to anyone who mentions it makes some posters seem like douchebags though.

Having said all of that those who are raging should calm down a little. Server owners will tweak loot tables or just stay at the last patch. They will add in things and remove others that their communities find annoying, it is a balancing act and that is what is cool about the mod. For someone like Trizzo he can feel super hard core in a server while others can go Battle of Dutyfield in other servers.

Tent placement is totally bugged. Since the update, tents can be only set in a large open area. You can't hide them anymore.

I've placed one under a tree just fine.

"Zombies should one shot players, if you get hit by a zombie you die."

I am expecting some dumb shit to say this. I'm 36 years old, and a gamer, and i've found the most amusing thing is this: People want shit to be extremely hard and then they just quit playing it. MAN WE WANT REALISM! MAKE THE ZOMBIES HARDER! Then one day, they get bullshit on by zombies, and probably die 4 times in one day to getting chain knocked down or whatever and they quit. They don't come back to the forums but then a patch comes out that changes zombies and back they come.

In EVERY single game i've played there's this huge community who want 'hardcore' mode but then when they get it they don't like it.

I'm a hero, I play against zombies and dodging bandits and zombies need to be tweaked right now. The knock down thing is perfectly fine, it's losing aggros in the way you're SUPPOSED to lose them that is the problem. They don't work most of the time and that's a bit of an issue. If I can go all through a city with 12 zombies, run through several buildings and then come out the other side with 10... then somethings wrong. We don't have the ability to close doors behind us, or make obstacles to slow zombies down. De-aggro was the way this was supposed to work, and yet now it's very very hard to do it.

De-aggro needs to be tweaked a little, I don't care about the loot because quite frankly there was way too much to begin with. Hording and server hopping didn't help the number of things on a server so *shrug*.

Oh, PS: Reset vehicles that haven't been used in 3 days. If you're not active on a server and you've got 6 vehicles stashed away then reset that shit.

let me fix that for you

>can't run sprint through the same old streets on the same old loot runs (that i have been practicing for months) without falling to the now improved and threatening zombies 70% of the time, WHY would anybody want to improve zombie AI in a zombie survival sim?

> the only loot i immediatly found was cans and flares (aka junk loot) in a failed state that was hit by a zombie uprising, can't figure out why this might be

>can't find medical supplies in what would be the most obvious and easy place to find medical supplies in a post crisis, crisis, maybe i should keep looking and not give up as that is the desperate nature of survival

this dayz patch is awsome, thanks razor and co

Man up and stop whining. It's zombie apocalypse.

Lol I tested the zombies out earlier and got knocked down and lost 25% health before i got away

It's awesome

And yeah man up

OP needs to man up.

Rarer loot is a great addition. Finding gear should mean something.

And zombies needed to be made more threatening. A zombie apocalypse where zombies weren't an issue was a tad silly.

In my opinion, people need to stop saying "MAN UP". What if you lost a 7 day character with NVG's, DMR, Rangefinders, and other such good gear? And dont even begin to say you wouldnt care, because everybody does. In my expierience, ive only played the game for 15 minutes and its already VERY VERY annoying. example? A zombie looking a different direction saw me when i was prone, and i didnt hit the capslock button to even talk. explain? you guys said this new update was going to be good, i respectuflly Disagree

Welcome to Windows, has nothing to do with the 'thread maker'.

All other thread makers are virtually flawless when it comes to Editing or correcting. windows is not the problem. try again.....

I do agree that the zombies aggro way too easily, even in prone mode, I'm afraid of aggroing a zombie 30 meters away while crawling. Also, when will they fix the bug where courch-running or running on roads and concrete make zombies in 80 meter radius aggro? I remember when I could crouch-run past zombies that were 50 meters away from me. It gets extremely annoying in cities, you simply don't want to walk or crawl trough the busy streets or you'll get killed. If you could quickly sneak without aggroing zombies, it would be great.

The update is good. It made a lot of very nice improvements. I love the item numbers which are shown at tents, so you always know, what fits in. Combining magazines is another feature I fell in love with. The new journal is just beyond awesome. It ads so much to the game. If you have other opinions on certain elements, fine, try to voice them kindly without just questioning everything. This is really hard and tough work. There went a lot of work, love, knowledge, time and probably a bit of pain in. Modding games just somehow uses to faces you with problems everywhere.

**Suggestion**

How about making journals lootable? What if you could read other peoples journales. If you find a dead survivor, you could read it and learn who he/she was.

I'm not entirely sure what to think about the update...

What there's no doubt about is that Zs are now definitely a threat to the player. They spawn everywhere, aggro quickly and their ability to infect players is nasty. And here's already my main gripe: players get infected way to easily and antibiotics are FAR to rare. Getting infected is basically a death sentence since you will need to consume food (which also spawns quite rarely) at VAST quantities to fight the blood loss. If you're not yet equipped for hunting you can as well run into a group of Zs and be done with it. Several times it happened to me that I got infected by 1-2 hits by the very first Zombie I encountered. Not fun.

I'm totally unsure, its certainly taken out some of the fun of it for me.

Last night I was on my usual server, 45 players and for the first hour I couldn't find anything. I kept spawning in Cherno/Elec/Prig and finding loot was nigh on impossible. I did notice a lot more player interaction and less shoot on site, mainly because no one had anything which sucked. Eventually I found a Winchester and M1911 and some ammo, then died when I got cornered. I gave up for then, came back an hour later on a new spawn and found my body in the middle of a road in Cherno still with its kit! How often does that happen!

Pain points for me though, Zombies spawning in the doorways of every loot building so you cant go in without luring them out. Pain.

Loot is none existant. Sure its realistic, but for a game its just not fun anymore.

Knockdowns - Fix this, way to frequent.

Agro range - Fix this. One one spawn I crawl up from the beach going about 20ft, look over a feield and there are 3 Zeds argoing towards me from about 100m away! WTF?!

I'm playing in 40-50 crowded servers and IMHO it's about the way you search. You mentioned the Cherno/Electro swap... I did found good loot on small villages away from the coast. Maybe people should consider change the way they use to play. I know the learning curve can be a pain in the ass, but that's the way it is with this patch.

The infection factor brings the "the walking dead" fear of being bitten. And it's freaking awesome!

I'm not entirely sure about the scarce loot, but well... I'll try hard to adapt first.

I did enjoy the new patch. Maybe some balance can be studied and added in a near future (I'm pretty sure Razor is reading the boards and Reddit to take some feedback from the players).

I think it would be more constructive if we talk to the team more directly if we don't like something, so they can elucidate us the expectations of every change they did.

Not really. I once lost a URAL topped up with that sort of gear to a server side bug. I didn't really care.

two days ago, i killed the admin on the server i play on. shortly after looting his gear (which included some things that are extremely rare...rangefinder, svd camo, etc) he kicked me out of the game and i lost everything i had just looted.was i pissed? you bet your ass i was...for a whole 2-3 minutes. the cardinal rule of this game is to not get too attached to any of your gear. learn to love that rule
