This is really sad, there was nothing immersion breaking about the food names, we have just as silly food names in reality. This whole uproar is sad and it sickens me that there was such a knee jerk reaction for something that is not game breaking in any manner.

Honestly, People that got mad over Cans of Food? Get over yourselves. Personally I think it was a great idea. It was good while it lasted.

Edit : Just like half the people that posted they are staying on 1.7.6, I will be joining them aswell.

I'm disappointed by this. I was hoping to enjoy the food items that were recently updated to the mod version.

That's some quality debating material right there.

I'm REALLY angry that Spanish is in the game, I mean, it's breaking my immersion every time I think about it. We're in Russia for Christ's sake.

I guess I missed the whole issue, but I've also been stuck back in 1.7.4.4

I think it's great that the community is maintaining the mod, but I also think it's important to acknowledge that DayZ is an established and beloved concept, when you adjust, replace or add new features. I'm still having a bit of a problem with it's current direction and I think those name dropping items feel more like something that belong at a private hive rather than to the official mod.

I'm disgusted by the small childish populace of this community. I for one believe that content deserves to be in the game, after all it's because of their work MOSTLY IF NOT ALL UNPAID work that we could not even give them a token of our gratitude.

I'm sure the people complaining about the new cans would stop complaining if their name was on a can. Everyone that got there name on a can deserved it and the people that took that away from them better be VERY proud of themselves and think that they did the DayZ world some sort of favor. News flash: You didn't. This is why we can't have nice things.

The issue is that most people supporting the removal of the cans did not realize that the names of the people were not present in the main inventory list of items, but only in the item description box when you click on it and on the actual texture. The worry was that it would clutter up the inventory and force people to read the name every time, which is actually not the case. All the people see in the main inventory item list is something along the lines of "Muffins (can)". This was not communicated well at all to the people who voiced their concerns and the situation continued to churn into a ridicule-filled storm. I'd say debate, but the radical generalizations that were thrown out (on both sides) based on the website a person used prevents the thread from being elevated to that level of civil discussion.

To be honest, I don't think the removal of the items was needed at all. What was needed was an official statement that clarified exactly what it looked like in-game and that the only thing most people would notice was new types of food.
