Vehicles... The greatest threat to player-characters yet...
-
I've driven cars close to submerged vehicles with varied results (approximately 20 of them). If they're buried deep and you can't see the wheels, the car will be ruined. Smoke will billow out of it and have the red dot indicator. If the car is partially submerged, it will pop out but will leak fuel during operation. A lot. Like, you'll have to stop at every other gas station. I always stay in the car, put it in neutral, leave it running, and hold down the brake. Eventually it will stop and return to the surface of the map. Haven't died yet this way. Once it settles, put it in first and tap the gas to move very slowly. It will usually work itself out. The network bubble is real. Drive slower in cherno/electro. Not so much of an issue near Zvir. Yea. You can't drive off into the debug area like you could before .63. Haha. For sure. I made up a similar rule: "If you get distracted by loot and jump out to early, it's your own fault that you died. Take the door off at your own risk." Rarely, however, have I seen people die outside of the first couple of times we figured out the submerged ADA issue. Many times, when the car has a seizure, it only appears to be client-side. Often passengers see nothing abnormal.

Do Vehicles carry over to other servers?
EricJennings replied to EricJennings's topic in General Discussion
So what happens if all the vehicles are taken on a server. do they respawn with a server restart? -
Hello, i am not really an modder but LookDev and 3D Modeling artist. I was wondering how the DayZ's texture/pbr system works when using PBR materials thats made in Mari or Substance for example. I suppose it's something like in Source Engine where u need to link ur maps in text file and give certain parameters. Also is there any workflow which is best compatible with DayZ ( e.g. what the actual developers use for making these materials? which software and its workflow? ). Also what about the preview, is there something like Object viewer where u can do quick changes and get fast feedback or u need to import it ingame and then see it everytime? In future probs i would like to try to make few mods, maybe buildings, vehicles or weapons and i want them to look dope like from AAA game ( not just some random model with texture painted using GIMP ).

So what did the developers added in this update but didn't mentioned on the notes ?
TheYetiBum replied to MarczXD320's topic in Xbox
Changed values for repairable items, duct tape quite often gets used up in one use now (probably to curb people exploiting). leather kits fix ballistic vests now too, weapon kits fix suppressors now as well so thankfully there are fresh alternatives to duct tape. Not sure if its just previous characters from pre-update but my blood type became bugged after the update and any attempt to blood bag causes temporary sickness for me. I'm yet to see any cars spawn without at least one wheel after the update also, i'm assuming this is a quick fix for cars sinking into ground geometry after server resets. it seems to work too as the only cars i have seen sink into the ground after the update are vehicles ive cannabalised for parts for other cars. And yes i can confirm that the Kazuar NV scope is in game, i found it at Tisy Military base but i have friends who have found it at Zelenogorsk & NWAF. hope this helps. -
Thanks for your feedback, I noticed the same thing and though the last two vehicles were just bugged, before patch no issues.
-
Title asks it all. Do they?
-
I have plenty of experience with vehicles since they were added, and for the most part haven't had any issues like this. But after this patch every time I drive, it seems to happen. The car will get lifted off the ground, my revs will go through the roof, and most of the time I get slung into the air or under the map and plopped back on the road. It's definitely related to this patch
-
I ran all the way back from the coast to where it killed me, its still there.....rear bumper resting against tree and when you get in it, it starts spinning and rolling again, I barely hit X in time to get out. Very buggy. The vehicles are seriously messed up in this game, no power, can't handle even touching a tree or bush very well, can't drive them over 50 or you lag out and crash. If you crash approx 3 times the vehicle is toast and starts smoking then will despawn.
-
Has anybody had the good fortune of being able to locate the night scope yet ? I have been to every checkpoint , mil base on the map . Twice . Not a sniff . Has it even been implemented yet ? I’m fully aware the patch notes state it’s implementation , however I remain dubious , as I can clearly remember the same being said for the vehicles before Xmas . It still took weeks before one was found . If anyone happens to come accross one feel free to hit me up

I've been enjoying vehicles A LOT! Since getting used to all the bugs and weirdness, they have really allowed me to enjoy the VERY WELL DONE landscape! My team now has 5 cars across different servers and they have all served us very well so far. New Tip: If your friend disconnects mid ride because he is playing on a potato (like my friend john). It may cause the car to spasm out uncontrollably (See condition #2), I have been able to survive so far by ejecting rapidly.

Hello, everyone, i've seen servers with traders and the currency is kinda stupid, it's post-apocalyptic world, money should be used to lit fireplaces or clean ur butt. Changing the currency to Ammo ( reference: Metro 2033 ) would make alot more sense ( e.g. 9mm is like 1$, 7.62×39mm is like 50$ etc ), so if you loot tons of ammo and for example you don't need that some you could trade these for better ammo or other stuff. Another thing is these Spawn locations, im not really huge fan of that, but probs i need to get used to it, but it basically ruins the whole point of DayZ experience, everyone is just gonna spawn to trader in Stary/Green mount etc and it becomes like camping simulator waiting for someone to run outside. Doesn't give the "Omg, there's a player" experience anymore and safe zones becomes more like hot zones when trying to enter one especially when there's not much vehicles u cant just go in easily like in Arma 3 Exile. These could be a bit simplified and limited to coast.

With all the issues with persistence , base building , broken economy , easy to farm and kill zombies , no real threat and no soft skills + no aerial vehicles , these little radios are essentially useless cuz no one is keeping them long enough to do anything realistic with them so basically you will never use it in a real situation unless your just doing it to test with a friend . Dont expect anything fun to work proper until this game reaches an actual 1.0 stage unless you’re forcing it to work with friends of like minds . Cant wait for devs to get off their kush vacation and actually start to work on this damn game ! And no I don’t mean small hotfix patches that they prepared before they went on this long New Years break to make it seem like they are around .

What Is You Ideal Sever To Play On ?
Mantasisg replied to liquidcactus's topic in General Discussion
Perfect ? 1. Meeting people frequently and majority interactions are friendly, but not all. (that one has thousand angles) 2. Experiencing rain, darkness, cold... and surviving it. 3. Dangerous zombies, wolves, bears... perhaps even some modded zombie mutants (one can dream). 4. Loot not too sparse, but valuable. 5. Vehicles, heli crashes.. 6. Server is not less than 80people and never has less than 40 players, usually nearly full. 7. People do not kos, or camp hidden in some a**. 8. Average survival ~a hour, surviving more than average feel GREAT. Because naturally it is challenging. 9. Perhaps use some mod which gives players objectives, like representing red/blue or green team, reinforcing central base, and battle other teams. 10. Obviously good performance, and hackers free. 11. Dangerous areas for fast pace game, neutral areas for slower pace game. 12. Has some statistics. Probably more -
My team and I went through about 5-6 vehicles before learning most of the bugs and odd behavior (usually dying in the process). We now have 2 cars working well, and progress getting our third going along with a base. I have always been the "driver" of our group since the DayZMod days of yester year, so I thought I would share what I've learned for those other "drivers" out there who just crave that sweet smell of exhaust fumes and vodka! Tips for vehicles in DayZ 1.0 - 1. If the salvageable vehicle appears to be stuck in the ground. DO NOT GET IN, it will snap out of the ground so violently it will likely kill you or shoot you into outer space. - The only fix I have seen so far is to drive a running vehicle very close to the "bugged" truck, it's important to drive VERY SLOWLY near the bugged vehicle or you can destroy it. Once close enough, it should pop out of the ground and be fine. Do all repairs after this step. 2. If you get in your vehicle and it starts "hopping", "bouncing", "rolling" or "levitating", or any combination of these things, I suggest you exit immediately, if you can. This seems to be caused by server lag and will almost certainly cause major problems. - Your best bet here is to wait for a server reset or less peak times as I'm fairly sure this is caused by the server lagging. 3. Avoid driving close to trees or other objects, ESPECIALLY if any of the signs from #2 exist, I sent a car to the moon this way, my character didn't survive. 4. Pretty sure motor oil is useless, at least for now, one of my vehicles has been running for days without ever adding oil. 5. Players can pretty easily destroy the radiator by shooting at you, immobilizing the vehicle until it's replaced. - If you try to run someone over, know this might be the price you pay (not that I know from experience or anything *cough cough*) 6. Don't drive above 60kph. You can, sure, but with random client hang-ups and moments of server lag, the faster you are going only increases your chances of hitting something and bricking the car. - If you do crash, try to salvage any car parts you can, because they will otherwise despawn with the crashed car fairly quickly. 7. Use caution when running up to the car, it can launch your character up into the air above it, so far none of us have died from this but we have had some GREAT laughs! 8. Use extreme caution near the edge of the map, If the car rolls off the map (indicated by brush and foliage) it will become stuck. - We lost 2 cars at the same time driving up the edge of the map, there was a client-freeze that caused loss of control and both vehicles became stuck when they slid off the map border. 9. Most Important - Advise all passengers entering the vehicle that they may die at any moment for any reason, or for no reason at all. - This will ease the pain (a little) when the inevitable bug kills you, a party member, or all of you. It's worth noting none of this would be possible without the efforts of my solid team. Thanks to their hard work, I am able to chase my dreams of carting their asses around the wastelands while they gear up like Rambo. I can't imagine securing and maintaining a vehicle without any help. I will update this if I discover any new things that are worth mentioning! Thanks for reading!

Do those vehicles "popped out of the ground" then suffer from that busted fuel tank problem?

What makes this server different? What we wanted to do is to create a server with some of the elements and balance that made DayZ mod so damn fun and less focus on adding every ugly or broken mod out there. More zombies, more guns (within reason and balanced, like in dayz mod), more vehicles and coastal spawns, extremely balanced loot table, map edits and more. We're tired of the lazy "modded" servers that just add every broken modded gun or shitty clothing re-texture, increase loot 10x and never tweak or re-balance anything. We want to create a hardcore, first person, fun but balanced environment reminiscent to the Dayz Mod experience. (Imagine DayZero meets epoch) Multiple new weapons. Glock 19, Glock18, Mac10, Lee Enfield, M14, G36, M24, Trumpet, 1911, 1911 Engraved, Longhorn, Winchester, Steyr Scout. You'll see a few other weapons on servers running the same mod packs, but we didn't add the broken guns. The modded guns that dont show magazines, eat ammo or are in other way game-breaking or could get you killed because they wont work properly were not added. Longrange and hunting scope are back. All Weapons now have a chance to spawn with compatible attachments! (because the devs couldn't be bothered to add this back in so we did) Tons of loot tweaks. Gun spawn rates have been re-balanced to resemble how it was in DayZ mod. However guns are more common than ammo. You may find loaded guns but you will have to work harder, steal or kill for additional ammo. Overall loot increased to feel more real. Items that were missing from the loot table have been added back in and others balanced. Items that are modular have a chance to spawn with attachments, such as flashlights, radios, scopes spawning with batteries or the gorka helmet spawning with the visor. Increased chopper crashes and police cars and added multiple additional spawns. Ever seen a chopper crash in cherno? Metabolism Food and water drain has been heavily changed. You dont need food or water every 2 mins, but you should still be looting it when you can. Unlimited sprint, like in the mod, but is still affected by melee and jumping. Cars. Overall spawns increased. Coastal gas stations have a high chance to have a car nearby. Cars spawn fully functional with the necessary fluids in the cargo to get it running. Traders. Traders are located in Green Mountain and Kumyrna. Trader inventory includes the new weapons and a few other things. If you find cigarettes in the world save them, they might be worth alot here. You can also find rubles in the world or on zombies. You'll notice our traders prices differ drastically from other servers. The traders aren't meant to be your easy-mode one stop shop! Coastal player spawns. Player spawns resemble how it was in the mod, bringing back the hotspots from DayZ mod. Zombies. Zombies are now a problem. Overall numbers have been increased so it actually feels like a zombie game. Cities are dangerous you'll want to avoid recklessly shooting inside them or you'll have a problem, fast. Hundreds of additional zombie spawn locations. Filling the emptiness in the vanilla game where you can go forever without seeing a zombie. Radius of spawns increased. Zombie contain loot more frequently and that loot table has also been modified. Sometimes it might be worth it to kill those zeds if you can! No dumb rules. Play however you want. RP or "KoS" no one is going to force you to play a certain way. The most thrilling factor that made DayZ mod so fun was that death can be waiting around any corner! I usually play/played on vanilla servers but since bases and vehicles are currently worthless, I sometimes play on modded servers. I really like the Winter_Chernarus, SnowClothing and Weapon Redux Pack combination. Perhaps combined with the trader to make it not 100 % a PvP fest. Even though it is only a texture a mod, it changes the game a lot and is very refreshing. Unfortunately there are very few 1pp servers with these mods and even in general. In 3pp you have a lot of people camping buildings, peeking in 3pp and waiting for their opportunity, it's utterly horseshit. I will probably play vanilla when everything is back in the game and works correctly. I will most likely switch between Chernarus and Namalsk. Not sure if I want to do this on the public hive since ghosting has become a real issue now with base building. Let's hope they will fix this.
-
Well, since you asked, I have one that fits most of your criteria. It is physically located in the United States (Seattle, WA) though, not Australia. It is 1PP only and I have reduced infected loot by 50%. There are also areas where there are hoards of infected that, if you fire your weapon there, you'll be swarmed and die if you can't find cover. Players have different random spawn-in points every day and the vehicles actually work -- they come fully-assembled. Both the vehicles and heli crashes are random spawns as well, so they could spawn anywhere -- even in cities. I am currently backing up the persistence files every 1 hour, so base building should work well on my server. There is a normal survival period of play (Sunday to Thursday) and also event-related play (Friday and Saturday), so the persistence state as of end of day Thursday resumes on Sunday morning. The world is wiped on the weekend for the events. More info on the server's forum as well at http://rsfw.forumotion.com/

Is this the extent of Basebuilding?
MaxwellHouse69420 replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
They won’t ever get to it unless it’s paid dlc . at this point my vision of the devs is the worst it could be , and they are still on that fat kushy 3-4 week vacation (I wish I could take a vacation that long for simply doing my job). Im so disappointed with how dayz is right now , I want to play so bad and every time I do in the past few weeks it’s nothing but bugs and bullshit - when the glitches clear you are about bored to death cuz all you have experienced is a little pvp and a lot of walking around (because vehicles don’t work worth a damn unless you’re on a low pop private server). What a damn shame 1.0 turned out to be , and the worst part is the dayz dev team saw it coming, which is why Brian Hicks left the project so prematurely (and frankly out of the blue) and that Is also why we are seeing more of the interns behind the scenes instead of eugen , Peter (and of course no more Brian on status reports). It feels like they’ve pulled the longest con by creating a game 75% of the way and now they are just going to slowly abandon it for vigor and other silly terrible titles . Be the men we thought you were dayz devs ; finish this fucking project and do it fast , time is ticking and soon even the sheeple won’t want to play your broken game. :( . -
[SOLVED] Car Stuck In the Ground
MaxwellHouse69420 replied to Antonio1290's topic in General Discussion
This is not how dayz 1.0 should be . We’re working on workarounds just to be able to play the fucking game that is supposed to be almost bug free at this point . Such a grand disappointment , I had utter faith in these devs until they started to show their flaws , and when they were seen they broke the whole project wide open . They spread themselves too thin and couldn’t get Men that could go the long haul , even their PR guy (Brian Hicks) quit before the game even became 1.0 (stating that “his job was done” lmfao it was far from done if he could see the PR disaster that we have now). Overall , I wouldn’t have ever guessed that Dayz Sa would take such a drastic turn from an amazing detail rich game that feels smooth and right with vehicles working , to a broken mishap of a game with a 1.0 label on it of all things . I never assumed the devs would destroy their own integrity and game for a cheap cash in right before Xmas. So fucking sad . -
Known issue: all vehicles intended for players (currently Niva 4x4 in version 1.0.150000) gradually "sink" underground. It seems like it happens with every server restart. In a few days if left untouched, it can go as deep as half way down. When you get into the vehicle driver's seat, the vehicle "jumps out" of the ground, and usually kills the player. Depending on how deep it was, the car gets either damaged (and gets a leaky fuel tank) or instantly ruined. Workaround: if you have another car (or know someone who has), just drive by it as close as possible (about 1 meter from it or less). The car pops out of the ground on its own, without any damage and becomes safe to enter. If you don't have another car and really-really want to build one... Just destroy all the sunk cars you come across by shooting into its engine compartment until it starts smoking. It will despawn in a matter of minutes. Then, after server restart, the cars supply on the server will get replenished automatically, however they will spawn in random locations. So you can scout for the fresh new cars (have a few friends scattered around the map to make it easier).

Hello, we need more info like, what type of event you made. (Heli, Car etc...) And the "mapgroupproto.xml" is for positioning loot on type Building / Vehicles, it's not for loot on the map.
