  1. I play the same way, but not a fan of empty servers, I like to have some danger so a 10 person is good. If everyone else logs I wont log, but I do prefer some edge to it. When they get the vehicles moving it will be cool again, I am not interested in them but they give the bad guys something to focus on and you can see the thing coming for a way so it adds allot of excitement. I will be 50 soon.
  2. Welcome to my server advertisement! I have recently opened a brand new DayZ Epoch server based on the map Chernarus. We are a new DayZ organization, willing to start or improve players experience on DayZ. If there are any problems on our server e.g hacker, glitch please report it immediately to an admin. Plugins ---------------------- AI Missions (Building Supplies, Disabled Military Helicopter, Weapons Cache, MV22 etc) Snap Building Pro Self Bloodbag Deploy Bicycle with a toolbox God mode and weapons disabled in all trader cities (including hero and bandit vendors) Donations ONLY ACCEPT GBP ---------------------- £1.00 x +5000 or -5000 in-game humanity (may consider wanting +25,000 humanity, so you will need to donate £5) £6.00 for a permanent load out (every time you respawn you will spawn with the gear that you ask us to give you e.g spawn with M4A1, British Assault backpack but remember we will have our restrictions so no stupid loadouts like, AS50, RPG-7, Large Gunbag so be reasonable) £10.00 for a Building Supplies Box As we want a reliable and smooth running server, we are not going to go over the top with scripts and custom vehicles/weapons.     Lets talk persistence.

    If you ever played the mod, you will know that persistance was an issue from the very beginning :) You could never be 100% sure items would stay and most of the time, when you dropped something in the mod, it simply vanished completely. We also never ever had real persistance, as in i drop a gun on the ground and it stays after a server restart. It was only vehicles, characters and tents, that had persistant inventory basicly, but that was only if you remembered to "save" the object before a server restart, or it would vanish hehe. Good old times lol, much have improved since then, theres no doubt. The persistance they are going for now, is way out of the mods league. I think thats why its causing trouble, combined with the global loot economy. Remember this is still an early prototype of the system, so we cant expect it to work yet. I also want to add, that i cant see anything wrong with adding it to the game. In fact Bohemia should add as much as possible to the game, as soon as possible, to collect as much data as possible, to correct as many bugs as possible. I have no issues with the game mechanics breaking over and over again, and frankly if you expect anything else but tons of bugs and half working functions, at this stage, you are truly naive :) To reach "perfection" one must build and destroy things, a 1000 times over, this is what is happening in DayZ atm. Trial and error is the way they work, most of the people working on DayZ (programming side) has never done anything like this before, let alone made the RV engine do it, so dont expect them to know exactly how to create and fix everything, in a flash :)

    What can I expect with DayZ now?

    Hello there As to what has changed check Cabooses link. Player numbers? I dont know off hand, but the player base is healthy. Community changes? Well, yes. The forum is a very fluid thing so many old time forum members have drifted away as well as some of the mods, but theyve been replaced with new blood. (nomnomnom). The forum is more organised now IMHO but that may or may not appeal. YMMV. Near future? Well vehicles are making it into dev tweets so thats going to be major. No ETA though. How "good" is the game? thats too subjective Im afraid. A billion out of 10? who can tell? Rgds LoK

    Ooooh, one step closer to the V3S :D With the physics being updated for vehicles etc, Could we see any simple form of force feedback for steering wheels? :D It was fun for a little bit using my Logitech wheel for driving in DayZ Mod... but no feedback was a bit depressing for experience, especially on the 1st person servers lol cheer Roger

    Claymores/IED's/Mines

    Easiest way to mitigate griefing is to make use of books in the game and give a dice roll to making an ied if you read book X you have a higher succesful chance to not blow yourself up when crafting. This can also add to the rp idea in that you can defacto create a class of demo experts. Besides when vehicles are into the standalone. I want to be able to blow up the happy couple joyriding through the countrside like a bunch of idiots. It will equalize the playing field in that respect and create more tension and drama since every place could, and should be booby trapped. Also it would allow for basebuilding because you and your mates could claim an apt complex- and surround it with traps and ieds and put a sniper on top
  10. ...you realize its not really the idea of "vehicles" anymore. they are confirmed, and already in development. Now the suggestions are revolving around what vehicles, specific features, etc. No offense, but its pretty obvious your new here. Look around a bit and figure out whats being added and stuff before you suggest things that are already confirmed, try to read the weekly status reports and such.

In the main I play 3rd person but I do play 1st person only servers too, sadly though when vehicles become mainstream I can see 1st person servers getting less players because let's face it, driving in 1st person sucks big time, especially as it can be so easy to run over a rock or something
  12. Let me start off by saying I am about fed up with the Dayz Mod and how ridiculously complicated it is to do anything. PlaywithSix, DayZCommander, and Steam - all offering what seem to be the same product, but how should I know - each one is several gigabytes to download so there's no way I'm waiting for each one so I can test them all. It seems that every single tutorial out there has a slightly different way of doing what SHOULD be a very straight forward task. Each one uses one of the three above, but you often times don't know which until you start reading the tutorial. Most of them are outdated, I haven't found a single PlaywithSix tutorial that uses the latest GUI. The new Stand Alone version isn't helping either, only supplying even MORE variation in the ways you could install the game. All I want to do is start from scratch, download the DayZ Mod, and join a server. A couple years ago I downloaded Steam and bought Arma II and Arma II Operation Arrowhead. I then downloaded PlaywithSix and started playing on a server. A couple months later I deleted both pieces of software as well as *some* of the game data. Today I am attempting to reinstall it and play once more. Lets take a look at a step by step of whats been done. Keep in mind this was all following tutorials online for how to supposedly fix one issue after another. 1. Install Steam 2. Download Arma II and Arma II Operation Arrowhead by going to "Library" and clicking "Install" 3. Download the latest version of PlaywithSix 4. Click on "Games", go to "Installed", and select "Arma II Combined Operations" 5. Go to "Mods" and select "Original DayZ Zombie RPG - @DayZ" made by the dayzdevteam 6. Go to "Servers" and attempt to navigate this section 7. Select a server and hit "Install" where the join button should be. 8. Finally click the play button that has appeared A message appeared saying that BattlEye could not be started or something like that. 1. Go to battleye.com 2. Download "BE Client for Windows (32-bit) - v1.223" 3. Put it in the Expansion > BattlEye folder for Operation Arrowhead. So at this point I tried joining it again and I was stuck at "wait for host". Another server I tried actually got the chat started in the lower left corner but lost connection twice. So I gave up on that server. I look up issues with "wait for host" and tried a couple solutions. 1. Download "ARMA2_OA_Build_94876.zip" file 2. Run program within 3. Get error message that the installed version is newer than the beta version I read that some files need to be deleted in order for this to work. The tutorial DID say I was supposed to moving to a LOWER build number not a higher one. Which I am. 1. Delete several files that I will not name for the sake of time. 2. Try again. 3. Same error message 4. Put files back in respective folders I deleted 4 files - two were put back so there is nothing to worry about. The other two were files in the BattlEye folder. Now this intrigues me. I had lost them and tried to get them back off the internet, but nobody mentioned them anywhere. Every screenshot of the folder on google images doesn't show them. What it DOES show is a BattlEyeUninstall file or something like that. I did not have any uninstall files. I still do not. I only have BEClient and BEServer. 1. Attempt to join the server one more time. 2. Stuck waiting an hour for it to download "2 mods" - neither of which I know the name of nor did I tell it to download. I'm completely lost to the point where I'm not even sure where I am in this post of what I've left out. I do not know what to do. Every server I see, every *ing single server I see, has some kind of issue. Not a single one has a ping, most are empty, thousands have the wrong version, and the ones that are left require another Mod on top of another Mod. I just want to join a simple vanilla server (maybe more vehicles) and play. Thats it!
  13. I like this idea of having vehicles. its faster to get to places than getting killed on foot by Zombies or other players. I hope drive some cars soon. :)

    Lets talk persistence.

    As others have said, the Stable hive offers a level of testing that they couldn't achieve through neither internal testing or experimental testing. The stable branch offers a wider array of feedback. That, & because roadmap. Test & fix persistence now, so that they can focus on the mechanics of persistent items (such as vehicles), without having to worry about persistence itself in the future (roadmap). Irish, y u no leik persistence¿ :huh:

We been doing a bit of clan infil lately and it has to be said it's a right good fucking laugh, either me or Lee joins a clan and 'befriends' them then the other one joins too and we then feed intel to a rival clan whats asked us to do it for em normally for revenge or maybe just out of pure spite, we dont care why we just love taking clans apart, sowing mistrust and paranoia and setting the wheels of in-fighting in action. It is quite a labour intensive endeavor, you need to spend a lot of quality time with these mugs, you need to pretend to like them, you need to earn trust and respect and lying all the time can get a little wearing but when the pay off finally comes, my god it aint half worth it i tell yer, proper fun times me and lee are having right now. Our favourite caper was in this German hjardcore clan, proper carebear types and quite organised, we spent 3 months behaving ourselves and becoming accepted and trusted members then the fun and games, lying, stealing, shit stirring, rumour spreading and just generally fucking with their heads, a real blast, in the end they disbanded after the leader and his #2 fell out because the boss man was convinced the #2 was setting him up for kills, but he weren't lol, it was me and Lee, we had em set up so many times for a rival clan that bore some grudge for some percieved slight that me and Lee didn't care about. Tents and vehicles are the future for our little enterprise, we are currently members of 16 clans between us, just logging in from time to time and being nice, generating good feels and nurturing fake friendships but, when the game goes full release we are planning to really go to work on these communities, most of them are genuine commissions, other clans aquire our services in return for games off of steam or other goodies but others we just doing for giggle an shit, maybe we seen a dick on the forums and decided to make him and his crew our next project lol. the reason i'm sharing this is not because you're remotely interestd, no, i just want to get it date stamped and on the record because soon we will be taking down a prominent youtuber who has been our 'buddy' now for several months and we regularly join him and his ass licking acolytes for live stream sessions, but this one is gonna be a classic and we are saving it for when we can do the most damage, timing is of the essence. Whats really awseome about this line of work is the way we never get suspected, incredible, we have become very adept at casting aspersions and suspicions amongst the clan while managing to remain close to the powerbase, often one of us is the main targets closest confidante at the very time we are slowly and methodically destroying his gaming life LOL. Clans and groups watch yer backs, professional sociopaths are in your midst.

    Lets talk persistence.

    Tents have been in the game since May and persistence has been in progress since then too. It is now mid November and persistence is still incredibly buggy and requires packing tents up weekly. As far as I understand it persistence worked relatively well in standard Arma2 engine so this doesn't sound like it should have been a 6 month project to implement in SA. I understand complications do arise in the course of any project but this seems excessive for a core feature. However, this development progress is slightly concerning as it causes me to doubt much more significant changes (new renderer, vehicles) will be implemented smoothly. More like big patch 0.60 to introduce vehicle models, but guess what they are not functional or driveable yet.

    The same way Wobo came up with this magical condition. At least he did testing to "make up" the so-called "bone condition" stat. Whereas your evidence is simply the following: "In 0.50 overall damage assessment seems to be was corrected. I didn't do sufficient testing yet, but since 0.50 release I don't remember single insta-death complain, which is good. I think )" Not hearing any insta-death complaints. Great investigative work there, sherlock. Lol. I'd sooner trust Wobo. That or wait for the game to have 70+ player servers, vehicles or more zombies and thus actually want to play more. Right now it's a bit dry :/

    0.51 Ammo Rarity

    I found tons of rounds for my SKS at the military prison of Turovo and you can also find them in wrecked vehicles. The SKS is still viable because its way easier to get your hands on than any assault rifle. The CR527 on the other side... its already quite weak and both ammo and magazines being very hard to find is just the final nail in the coffin.
  19. Overpoch is the epoch files/features with overwatch weapons, vehicles, and skins added. To be clear all epoch features are included in overpoch and the overwatch assets that will be there are up to the servers developer. As for hardest to play that all depends on the servers and other factors. Hope this helps clarify.

    Lets talk persistence.

    If you read as much of what the devs say than other places, you'd know that this ALPHA is for releasing content, and releasing TONS of content. They'll fix things that break, but ALPHA is about 'finishing the code base'. The next stage, BETA, is when the 'broken' things in the game get refined, redone, and 'fixed'. They have a simple form of barricading in the game, with lockpicks and locking doors. OBVIOUSLY, it's not the final state, but it's content that is in the game. We'll have vehicles soon, but not the final refined version. We have one of the first iterations of loot cycling and persistence, which isn't complete, yet. When the map is 'complete', when they won't be adding more towns or changing the terrain, they'll be going through the old towns (Cherno, Balota, Kamishovo, Elektro for example) and updating them with newer, more varied houses, and other buildings. One of the biggest undertakings is the new renderer, which they've talked about for months, and have stated that it will take into Q1 2015. When the renderer is in, that's when everything else will really get scrubbed and polished. And the 'separation of church and state' reference is a silly one; that is, unless you can find it in the Constitution :)

As 0.50 is pushed to stable branch today, it is important that survivors understand a few key points about this latest update in the DayZ development cycle. 0.50 and features specific to this update, as are as always - very early prototypes. While we do iterate weekly on experimental branch servers for both functional, and gameplay reasons many systems behave very differently when exposed to the much larger audiences on stable branch. Additionally, as we blaze ahead towards our end of year goals we will see performance server side bounce back and forth. We here on the DayZ development team endeavor to finish off the year with not only the additional features mentioned in last weeks status report, but with a healthy and steady server performance rate. As always, please use the feedback tracker when reporting issues and make sure to work with your game server provider's support if you are a DayZ server operator. That said, lets revisit last weeks comments regarding changes to how project updates and development info on DayZ is communicated to the Early Access survivors. As mentioned last week, we will be rolling out some changes to the DayZ.com website: Project CalendarExperimental & Stable branch updatesDev StreamsMaintenanceStatus ReportsEventsDev Hub will be moved to the landing page of DayZ.com to allow easier access to the latest news and updates about the development of DayZServer Status widget/block - (This displays the current status of Stable and Experimental branches eg: Online / Offline)In addition to the changes to DayZ.com - we will be reapproaching how we handle the dev streams. We will continue with the dev team play sessions - however we will replace the alternating week play session / Q&A frequency with a dev blog / commentary style video that covers the teams commentary on the previous play session as well as discusses and shows things upcoming to experimental branch. As we roll these changes to DayZ.com and our dev streams / blogs out we will as always engage the community for feedback at the official DayZ.com forums. Lastly, as many may be aware - our game server partners recently started rolling out support for the renting of private shard servers on stable branch. To celebrate this, and coincide with the upcoming Christmas holiday we are looking for the best / strongest / most epic / generally most awesome communities. However work didn't stopped for the team. Currently we are working on enhancement of horticulture with fertilisers and protection against pests. Cooking is being prepared for refactoring and at the end gas cooker and fireplace will offer similar possibilities. Apart from that there are ongoing discussions about construction (base building), zombies AI, inventory and other aspects of the game. Vehicles. As nearly everyone is looking forward to them so I would like to disclose the current status of them a little. Vehicles implementation in the engine itself like handling, physics and other parts was completely written from scratch. We (design) finally got our hands on them as the programmers finished their work on basic needs and they will continue further with their work in parallel with ours. So far we have a driveable V3S with basic configuration in game along with some basic controls and our main focus now is to bring the initial implementation to the public as soon as possible. Of course as it will be just basic stuff for now I would like to point out that it will be not wise to await advanced features like complete repairing with full controls, all parts, upgrading, mounting points, shooting from vehicles and such. All this and much more will be ongoing iterative process like with everything and it will take a while to reach the final implementation so bear with us.   22. I am an extremely experienced player of DayZ Mod. I have over 400 hours total in game with Epoch. I have a large knowledge of guns, vehicles and more. I love to communicate with a good group of people that are on the same page that I am, and that is running a server because we are so skilled. I can hold more than my own in a PVP fight. I am looking to play other maps, besides Chernarus. Requirements: Microphone Teamspeak Incredible PVP skills Knowledge of the maps Great communication skills

    Any update on magic leg breaking?

    No the bottleneck is always the communication between server and client. Just compare the speeds inside of your PC with those outside of it. That being said, the main concern is server performance, and Hicks already stated that it's far from being what they want and that it's being adressed as a priority right now, since its also the main issue to be solved for increased player and zombie count. Inb4 they add vehicles and the crowd posts threads like "Driving randomly kills you when going faster then 20mph!!!!omg"
